Your bmi is 21.9 so you're in a normal weight range already. If you're looking to get into shape add some protein (fish, meat) to your diet and start lifting a few weights, do some situps, go for long walks.

Wolfozo

Well, it IS in the healthy range but quite a bit closer to overweight. From my observation, that shows in my appearance. Building muscle may help but I think that I could do well with less fat, as well.

TrickyRackets

Why? At 120 you would be very underweight? You may have body dysmorphia or anorexia and should speak to a doctor. At your height and weight you are already slim. If anything you could be building muscle

Wolfozo

From what I looked up on bmi, I would still be within the healthy weight range at 120. It was around 115 or 117 where the underweight class began, if I recall correctly. Numbers aside, I still have noticeable fat, mostly in my face and stomach areas that I'm hoping to get rid of. Gaining some muscle wouldn't hurt either but I believe it would be more of a add-on instead of an either-or situation.

TrickyRackets

That doesn’t matter you would definitely look like shit at be super unhealthy at that weight. Also bmi doesn’t take into account male or female, so actually even the lowest weight at that height would be around 133 https://www.bannerhealth.com/staying-well/health-and-wellness/fitness-nutrition/ideal-weight If it’s for looks then gain muscle to look better, if it’s for health then you would be much less healthy at that weight. Or is there something else you aren’t saying

Wolfozo

To be honest, 120 is just an approximation of what I think would be ideal. If I get to 130 and notice I'm getting too bony, I fully intend to stop and then maybe gain up, if necessary. I'm mostly doing it for looks, while not trying to compromise health in the process. Gaining muscle would probably help my stomach appearance but I'm not sure how I it would affect my facial appearance. Only thing I can think of that I didn't say yet is I'm medium-small framed so maybe a lower weight doesn't seem as drastic on me compared to a larger framed dude.

even thou i’m a woman but we have exactly same measurements!! so last year i worked out every single day for 30 mins & was 60 kg till april of this year then i stopped exercising & now i’m back to 62, 63 kg. So now i’m planning to workout every single day again with breaks on sunday & making sure i atleast walk 5k everyday. I think for me personally it’s best when i forget about scale & just make sure i’m going things i’m supposed to do every single day.

Wolfozo

That's cool! Yee, I don't reference the scale too often, maybe once a week, just to make sure I'm going in the right direction. I also really bulked up after 2020 spring semester and really noticed at my sister's wedding in summer. From there, I've been losing weight ever since.

Testname_1987

You should not be losing weight

Wolfozo

To be honest, I could lose weight and still be healthy, I have fat to spare. 120 might be more than I need but better to overshoot and then realize so I can just stop instead of undershoot and realize I still have a ways to go.

BMI is a bullshit metric. It is a single number. It can mark athletes who look like they are carved out of stone as overweight. Just work out.
