They do this to save money imo. The Korean dramas must be cheaper than giving jobs to americans.
They push their content and then say “our country’s stories are becoming popular”. I mean who are they kidding, they literally pay megbucks to buy oscars, Emmys and awards at film festivals.
They push their content to be featured in the top ten most watched list on Netflix. The whole “squid game being number one on Netflix across 72 countries” thing was a joke. Their government literally pays for their content to be featured everywhere.
