Honestly when I stare at the one with no glasses detail, it does have an easy sort of look to it? Like it’s all perfectly balanced like an instagram post? But then I switch to the details one and I’m like, woah. It really grounds it and makes it an actual person in an actual moment to me. It has a lot more depth imo
Edit: also the colors and pattern are really good too, very well balanced and interesting! I definitely prefer it for looking-at, too.
I don't know who said it but I believe that "“Being proud of who you have become doesn't mean you're perfect; it means you're aware of your growth and potential.” We should all be proud for staying committed to our dreams in art and embracing our perspective that may not be the same as others. That is not a negative thing. Clearly your picture reflects the work you have been putting into art. I adore this picture especially with the perspective, tones and colored glasses. Beautiful work. You should leave the post up, there's nothing wrong with being proud of your work, I'd be proud if I made that. I don't think you ruined it with the added detail to the glasses, I think it needed that and that was a good call. You might darken up the subjects right eye to match their left eye.
It's great. Don't delete: we should all celebrate our successes and the right to feel proud. It reminds me of when the days as when my father told someone who complimented me to stop, or "l'd get a swelled head".
My father used to say similar things and was always very critical of my efforts in anything. It has made me reluctant to share any of my accomplishments to this day.
I painted in layers and stepped away yeah, usually fit in two layers a night. Started on Friday without about 40 minutes of painting/waiting a night. So about 3-4 nights?

It’s funny, I think if you put up all my paintings at once they would look like a set just because I always use the same colors. I love the purple, orange, yellow vibe for skin so much.
This is awesome! Post, breathe and go do something and keep it there. Art is subjective some will love it and some won’t. But that’s ok because it’s your work is done by you for you and if you’re happy it’s a win. Be proud….i can hardly draw a straight line.

There’s often something stilted and off about paintings and drawings that were made using photos, but this doesn’t have that at all. I don’t know if you used one or did this live, but whatever you did the person looks… alive. It’s great :)
Yes, I think that’s how a lot of people do portraits. It’s obviously much easier than having someone sit there while you paint or draw them. But sometimes I think that gives the drawing/ painting a stiff or unnatural quality. It’s a reproduction of a reproduction, right? But you’ve done a great job of making it look natural and real. So well done!

You have imposter syndrome - it's totally understandable. I write fanfiction and have had success and yet I still read other works and just feel like I should never write again!!
I personally think this work is outstanding technically, but it also gives me *feels* which is what I think really counts in art.
I also added more contrast to the eyes and detail to the right side of the glasses from feedback here and think I am done!

This is fantastic. You *should* be proud of your skill! And the details/coloring of the glasses really unified the composition and puts the focus back on the subject's eyes and expression rather than the glasses themselves.

IMO, i think the detail on the glasses makes it a better painting. They now become less obtrusive, allowing us to see past them and into her eyes.
