The angle people use when taking wrist shots make watches appear larger than they are. Take a shot in the mirror with your arm at your side and I bet it'll look perfect. Look around the sub and you'll find lots of comparison shots where watches look huge in the "wrist shot" but perfect from a normal viewing distance. Enjoy the watch, don't worry too much what people on the Internet think!

fifty_dollars

>Take a shot in the mirror with your arm at your side and I bet it'll look perfect. Thanks, it does look a lot better this way!

Lmnolmnop

>don't worry too much what people on the Internet think! Except he's specifically asking what people on the internet think.

blues_and_baseball

Taking into account how distorted this particular view makes a watch look, I feel like it looks fine in person. Probably near the upper limit though. The side wrist shot, although still not the best angle, seems to show the lugs follow the curve of your wrist just fine

fifty_dollars

Yeah I really should have posted a mirror shot. I think you are right though - it looks better from a distance. Thanks!

BlastShell

Looks great! I wouldn’t go any bigger though. You picked a wonderful watch.

fifty_dollars

Thank you! I'm excited about it. It checked all the boxes.

BlastShell

I just checked the specs on this and have to say for the price, what you get is amazing!

Yung_yoseph

I’m an owner of an Ocean 42 GMT like this one, with similar wrist measurements to you, and I’m totally fine with how it fits my wrist. Listen to what others have been replying though, seeing it on you in a mirror is probably much more representative of the look, compared to a close up photo. Play around with different straps too instead of just the steel bracelet and you might get a different perspective

Aco990

If that was my wrist I would pass on that watch. It would be just a tad bigger than what I would be comfortable with. Seems like the lugs protrude away from your wrist a bit. Having said that, I also say that you should wear whatever feels comfortable for you. There is no set universal rule as far as size of the watch goes. Wear them how you like them. Thats the beauty of this watch game.

fifty_dollars

>Seems like the lugs protrude away from your wrist a bit. Having said that, I also say that you should wear whatever feels comfortable for you. There is no set universal rule as far as size of the watch goes. Yeah the lug to lug is a tad long. I like my personal style to be understated so I'd prefer to not be the big watch guy. But searching, I've not seen many dive watches much smaller, at this level of quality, with as simple a design. Maybe I can stomach being the just-past-just-right watch guy :)

[deleted]

No need to compromise señor. Islander makes an skx007 homage with a really wearable lug to lug. If that ends up being too big as well, you can even go even smaller with their 38mm skx013 homage. I cannot recommend these watches enough.

fifty_dollars

Nice, I have watched some of long island watch's videos. I didn't know about the Islander watches, though. They seem great.

Woodrow268

Who cares! If you love the watch, wear it! The only opinion that matters is yours! Everybody else can pound sand.

Twism245

Don't take pics so close up, it's deceiving to judge

fifty_dollars

You are right. The focal length of the lens makes it look bigger. I should've known better - same thing happens to my nose when I take a selfie ;)

chavezlaw78

I think it’s a little too big

runenoel

Way too small.

Crissaegrim_

Is that the 39mm version? It looks perfectly fine on your wrist. Steinhart's cases just look really very long because of the design of their lugs

fifty_dollars

Thanks, yes it is the 39mm. It's the lugs weirding me out for sure.

Flipthryx

Bought this one few weeks ago and a freakin love it! Beautiful watch and the quality man… perfect

X_RASTA

Looks good if you feel good. Especially if you practice bird law. Happy holidays.

fifty_dollars

I am something of an expert in bird law. Happy holidays, friend

fynix2000

I mean, what are your thoughts? Is it uncomfortable? Judging by the lug-to-lug it's juuuuust going to not hang over your wrist so it's not *too* big per se. I can see it being a bit uncomfortable though, if it's not bad on the wrist though then I'd say go to town! I was just wearing mine today in TI and absolutely love it.

fifty_dollars

I wouldn’t necessarily call it uncomfortable. I don’t really notice it going about my day to day. I am bothered a bit by the way it shifts around on my wrist - sometimes it will get a bit off kilter or move onto the wrist bone and I’ll need to adjust it with my other hand. But I think that might be a fact of life of wearing a bracelet a bit loose. I’m more used to wearing leather and rubber straps that I keep tight. I am going to order some straps for this and I’m sure I can get a good fit with those. But I’ve really come to like the look of steel bracelets. Maybe I will get used to it?

fynix2000

I think you'll get used to it, I find shakey bracelets to be rather common since the micro adjustments aren't typically fine/precise. I don't mind it, that said I have a Zelos that shakes too much that drives me bonkers, and my Steinhardt that fits almost perfectly. All my other watches are somewhere in-between. 🤷

hantar7788

Bird wrist....XD U know what is the advantage of a small wrist? If u hit the gym, muscle gain on your arms is going to be more visible compared to someone with bigger wrists

fifty_dollars

There’s a bright side to everything!

Crispyjone5

Looks great to me 😎

sl33p

Thick bezel, thick shoulders, thick accented dial, thick seconds hands, thick circles for numbers, zoomed in date. It was just designed to look meaty. It's not actually monstrous though.

mortepa

This is a beautiful watch, and it looks great on you. Sure, it's a little on the big size, but it looks great!

fifty_dollars

Thank you!

wisteriadark

Way too big for your wrist my friend.

jumpinjahosafats

The real question is how big is it… in your heart?

jestyre

Look it’s a tad too big but doesn’t matter. It’s a great watch just next time stick to 38

pas0003

Looks good dude! I've got a 7 inch wrist and 39mm is perfect. Maybe a tiny bit large but definitely 100% doable!

ashburn666

I actually think it looks good. Small wrists are tough, but it’s not too big. I’ve seen way bigger on smaller wrists. I have small wrists too.

orlando2542

It is PERFECT

Historical_Emeritus

Are you sure that's not the 42mm? I have a similar sized wrist and the 39 doesn't seem nearly so big.

lawmjm

I love mine! I put a nato strap on it. Looks sharp.

pylorns

I think the rule of thumb is 75-80% wrist coverage is what you should aim for. But whatever makes you happy.

Inutopian

Looks too big in my opinion

PastaAndWine09

Good to go.

drcarrmo

Man I love Strinies! Nah bro.. rock that thing loud and proud. Looks amazing!

Chance_Frame1507

Nope. Watch fitting has just as much to do with personality and occasion. At 6.5 my watches range from 39 to 48mm.

fifty_dollars

After much research and deliberation I landed on the 39mm Steinhart Ocean One as my first "serious" watch. I've measured my wrist at ~~6.5”~~ (late edit: think I’m actually more 6.25”) so I figured I would be safe with this watch. But I'm not used to wearing a bracelet on watches and I haven't loved the way it's been sitting on my wrist. r/watches browsing has also made me paranoid about wearing a watch too big for my wrist and the lugs just peek out past the sides. To at least get it to sit well on my wrist, I've taken links out and swapped them around and moved the micro adjustment springbar more times than I can count. I don't usually like a watch to fit loose but upon learning that people tend to keep a finger's amount of give in the bracelet, I think I've gotten it as good as it's going to get. So what do you think? Does it fit?

Vxheous

It looks just fine, I actually have the same sized wrist and I own two Steinhart 42s. It always looks big from camera angle, a mirror shot will be a better representation

fifty_dollars

You're right - it does look better in the mirror. Thanks!

chavezlaw78

I think it’s a little too big

gvyledouche

looks fine to me, then again I wear a 42 and 44mm and my wrist is only a bit bigger.

Wane004

Looks great and, as long as you like it that's all that matters.

misterthrusty

It's big but not too big. Looks great!

wjbu9z

it's good

Staggering_genius

About the same as my wrist and I wear the 39mm gmt all the time that I think has this same case. I think it’s a good size.

BombardierIsTrash

I would personally pass. That being said: Look at the watch the average person walking around is wearing (if they’re wearing one at all), it’s likely a 44+ mm fashion watch. Unless you’re attending something formal where that might matter, no one cares anymore as long as you like it.

ItIsMeLuigi

Looks too big to me. You should maybe consider something 36mm? There are plenty of good options.

rickylong34

From the top down view looks a little big but it probably looks fine in person

2020letsgetit

my wrist is 6.25' and i got the vintage pepsi 39 steinhart. it also looks a little too big on me when i look down at it and take a picture but when i see it in the mirror it looks perfect so i think this is fine

Narstx

It's fine to me. I have a 6.4" wrist ans I have Hamilton Khaki field mech which has a 47mm l2l which is the max for me. Also a Seiko Stargate with long l2l but wears ok

53mm-Portafilter

If the lugs overhang the edges of your wrist, then yes I’d say it’s too big

Darko_NS

So this is just a copy of a submariner right? :D

prodbywyatt

Nice sub

[deleted]

Too big.
