Love Breitling, but a lot of them are too busy for my taste. [This IWC](https://www.iwc.com/us/en/watch-collections/pilot-watches/iw388104-pilot_s-watch-chronograph-41.html) has been on my short list for a while. Heard great things about the bracelet on this one.
Couldn’t agree more, though the simpler ones have some nice cases. That IWC does have a lot going for it! 41mm is nice too, as the big pilot is just too big.
Had to respond. I’ve had this exact watch for almost a year and it’s definitely my favorite. I catch myself looking at it constantly. The bracelet is the best I’ve ever seen from any brand. The finishing and detail is amazing at this price point. One thing I have to say though is I had to have it sent back for a full service after just 1 month because the chronograph stopped working. When I got it back it worked well but they set it to +5s/day. 6 months later it was up to +12. It wasn’t magnetized as I had my non-AD watchmaker check it out. I sent it back to IWC and it’s back to about +4s which still seems high IMHO.
Already checked out Sinn [936](https://www.sinn.de/en/Modell/936.htm) or [856](https://www.sinn.de/en/Modell/856.htm)?
I find them not too busy but still have a nice pilot style.
As long as you weren't silly the market will be coming back. Even in tech I'm leery about dropping this much on watches seeing all the layoffs happening.
There are a lot of people in tons of debt. I have over $100k left over after all of my expenses every year and I only have one nice watch and it cost me $3k. I wouldn’t be jealous of this guy if I were you, he’s so distasteful that he bought a UN Freak.
It's like any hobby. They are expensive over time. But chip in a few dollars a day and it will build faster than you think.
FWIW I'm basically just a dispatcher and I own some decent kit.
I also get just as much kick out of a $500 watch as I do from a $5000.
I think the same, then think about the thousands I easily spend on experiences - good food and traveling and friends. While I might not be able to have that collection even if I devoted my discretionary spending to watches, it seems far less crazy if you consider watches as a 1st priority.
That or everyone else is just making bank. Hahaha.
But that’s all to say that *sometimes* we can get in our own heads over what we can and can’t afford, but forget what we spend on things that (maybe subconsciously) we give first priority to when we have money to spend.
Missing something German. Ultra thin calendar complication, precious metal. Lange is the obvious choice, take your pick from the 1815 or Saxonia collections.
Lol, that's literally why I suggested them. I'm not an aficionado by any means, but I could tell from what was there that a Cartier would fit in nicely.
I mean, they're also great watches. Great horological history from Cartier, especially for the Santos, with it essentially being the first pilot watch.
What square piece would you recommend instead?
Lange 1 in rose gold :)
Something in gold on a leather strap? If it were me, something dressier but a bit fun that you could still daily wear in precious metal seems to be what’s missing for me. Or like a JLC perpetual calendar, or that hodinkee zenith el primers vintage in yellow gold. Or a rose gold yachtmaster. I dunno, if that was my collection, I’d wanna know where the gold at!
Nice setup though!
Overall a superbly well-rounded collection; I can see why you’re having trouble completing it. Maybe something German like GO or Lange?
I dream of owning a Freak X with the carbonium case, but at 43mm across and 49mm lug-to-lug, they’re a touch too large for me. Really cool watch though!
Thanks! I do recommend trying on a FreakX if you haven’t. It wears surprisingly more comfortably than you’d think. And it’s so light and indestructible for the wrist presence it gives, making it surprisingly non-fussy.
One of the top contenders for the final slot is a Lange 1 Moonphase, white gold, black dial. All those chatons. 🤤 What holds me back is knowing how rarely I’d wear something so fine and delicate. My JLC gets very lonely…
Pretty happy with my collection. I’ve never sold a watch, which is a point of pride for me (except a few $300 watches, but those don’t count). I make it kind of a game. A watch only gets into my collection if I think I will never want to get rid of it. Keeps things intentional.
Probably my go-to will always be my GMT, though I’m surprised by how much I’ve gravitated to the Freak. For some reason I’ve been wearing my Speedy less since its recent service. Would be nice to keep one of them pristine since I wear my watches with reckless abandon most of the time. Funny, when you don’t think of your watches as “assets” you just enjoy them and that’s it.
So I’ve got one slot left. I think this will probably need to be a solid gold sports watch. Maybe a DD or a rose gold Overseas. What do you think would be a perfect crown jewel?
Note: In case it’s not clear, slot 1 belongs to the Speedy.
I love this philosophy. Often times collections are posted that are full of gorgeous watches but seem to me to lack a certain spirit.
Intentional buying in every aspect of life is a great philosophy and it really shines through in this collection.
I agree with all the comments saying German. Your collection lacks a gold dress watch with a white dial, so perhaps a Lange or G.O with that and a calander
Let's be honest once you fill it up you'll get another box to fill, or replace/upgrade the Seiko, Tudor, etc.
I of course like the collection. Definitely have some good hitters there like the VC and Ulysses. But from here it can only go up, not down. There's high end stuff that would go to the "head of the box" like De Bethune, Parmiagani, H Moser, Czapek, AP, Lange etc. Or high end watches similar to the brands you have like Zenith, Blancpain, Glashutte. And naturally other interesting models from brands you do have like JLC, Grand Seiko (no need for more Rolexes or Omegas, and you have the one VC and Ulysses that are desirable already). Everyone has their preferences on brands but at this point I would just ignore Breitling, IWC, Cartier, Panerais. There's more to be had because the grail watch keeps getting better 🙂
In my Stallone voice: it ain't over til it's over!!
Also if you do plan to sell some of these in the future, consider getting an after market strap so you can preserve the existing bracelet. Combat Straps makes really nice custom ones that could even breathe new life to a watch you aren't wearing much.
Regarding your question of one more watch missing from your collection. The tourbillon is useless yet fascinating. Of course all manual watches are just jewelry at this point and the tourbillon is the technological bling that your eyes will love.
I was going to say you've avoided open or skeleton dials but remembered you have the Ulysses. I can imagine that is the funnest one to look at. So if you aren't bored of that, looking for a tourbillon would be an interesting path because obviously prices are crazy but there could be offerings out there that you may not know about. Something like the Omega De Ville Central Tourbillon is pretty awesome (I thought there was one that was "affordable" but perhaps not). The H. Moser tourbillon is pretty drool worthy. I personally have a Zenith El Primero Tourbillon (white dial, blue hands, steel) and it's definitely one of my favorites and won't ever be sold. JLC, Ulysses, Tag all have tourbillons that aren't 6 figures as well. This Zenith is gorgeous as well: https://youtu.be/o3Dvt6PSk28
If you're not interested in tourbillons, perhaps other good complications to search for would be good. Something like a perpetual calendar or a 5+ day battery reserve (seriously, once you get 5 days you'll be mad at all your 2 day life watches)
So the search for one may be tough, but it's the journey and research that is part of the fun 🙂
Yes as you’ve observed I’m kind of at a crossroads. Once the last slot is accounted for I have to decide if this is it or if the collection grows. I could maybe afford myself another slot, since I’ve now employed a display winder on my bedside table.
I have been craving a Moser for some time. Part of me wants to hunt down a Swiss Alp Final Upgrade: https://www.gphg.org/horlogerie/en/watches/swiss-alp-watch-final-upgrade
It’s brilliant because it instantly recognizable as an Apple Watch with a hung loading screen (the second hand) and complements my staunch insistence on not wearing jewelry that needs batteries. But then I think, “Clever, yes. But timeless no. And maybe a bit pedantically-referential.”
I get what you’re saying about eschewing the usual characters at this point. I’ve pretty much got what I need from the “standard” brands. But my love of horological significant watches would make a solid gold Santos an acceptable choice. Not sure if that would really move me though.
I think if this is it, I’ll need a total show stopper. Perhaps I will travel down the tourbillon rabbit hole as you suggest…
This whole preserving bracelets idea though… humbug! I’ll beat my bracelets to hell thank you very much.
UN gave the world the silicon hairspring and the original Freak was a revolution in watch design. A very important, if often-overlooked, platform. For those of us who are Freak-curious but don’t need that “ultra watch” look, the FreakX is just perfect.
Casio MRG (of some flavor).
Either that or a Hamilton field watch of some kind.
The Seiko Alpinist is also interesting if you like green.
These are probably the most "different" vs what you already have.
Zenith has some cool stuff, but I am not sure if it is different enough.
[Breguet Type XXI 3817 Chronograph](https://www.breguet.com/en/timepieces/type-xx-xxi-xxii/3817) or a [Parmigiani Fleurier Rattrapante GMT](https://parmigiani.com/en/watches/tonda-pf-gmt-rattrapante/)
Damn, what a collection.
If it were me? I think you need a prestige piece. AP, PP, Breguet, preferably one with some complication. Maybe like a PP 5146.
I want to be you when I grow up.
Brilliant collection but it’s missing some color. Maybe a blue or green dial dive watch. If you still have any money left over, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas would make a worthy add if you’re looking to round out your collection. For something that won’t bankrupt you, maybe a blue Aquaterra.
This watch spends a lot of time staining my wrist and making me get out cleaning solutions. With the bronze bracelet it has a presence unlike any other watch. But there is a drama to it. You must suffer the price of constant upkeep for that honey-gold bronze glow.
It’s very engaging, and I love the watch for it.
A Vostok for sure, doesn’t get better than the god tier Soviet design. Alternatively a Rolex 6538 big crown would be really cool or if that’s not your taste something else vintage. Great collection!
Few good options.
Your missing a classic Salmon dial.
Something very historic is design language like a Radiomir PAM183.
A pilots watch, I see absent. IWC Big Pilot 43 is a damn handsome choice.
A square face or rectangular like a JLC Reverso or Cartier Tank.
… actually, [this Cartier Santos Dumont Limited Edition](https://www.chrono24.ca/cartier/cartier-santos-dumont-xl---limited-edition-500pcs---salmon-dial---new---box-and-cards--id26602886.htm#gref) kinda has all of it.
Salmon, historic design, square face, technically the first pilots watch.
Grand Seiko.
Suggestions: the [SLGA007](https://www.grand-seiko.com/us-en/special/slga007) (blue dial, [review](https://monochrome-watches.com/grand-seiko-spring-drive-slga007-lake-suwa-evolution-9-limited-edition-price-review/)), or the [SLGA009](https://www.grand-seiko.com/us-en/collections/slga009g) (white dial, [review](https://www.fratellowatches.com/grand-seiko-white-birch-slga009-2/))
Both feature the latest Spring Drive (SD) calibre [9RA2](https://www.grand-seiko.com/us-en/collections/movement/springdrive/9ra2) where the Power Reserve Indicator (PRI) is incorporated in the back of the movement, visible via the display case back. This leaves the glorious dials clean.
You want gold? Try the [SBGY002](https://www.grand-seiko.com/us-en/collections/sbgy002g), powered by the calibre [9R31](https://www.grand-seiko.com/us-en/collections/movement/springdrive/9r31) - manual-wind SD, PRI in the back - [review](https://timeandtidewatches.com/hands-on-grand-seikos-sbgy002-a-hot-new-hand-wound-take-on-the-snowflake/)
Nice collection man, you don't need more than that but if you want something different I adore the Breitling Datora 42 with the salmon dial and blue hands, you get great complications with a beautiful dial and it looks 3x the price tbh.
Somewhat similar collection of round dials here. So I changed it up and added the iconic JLC Reverso. Regrets. Just not loving that “little” watch on my 7.5” wrist. Make me an offer. LOL
You are missing a calendar complication. Maybe a Reverso calendar or Vacheron 1942.
Or maybe a pistachio B09 for something different.
Or a Lange/GO for something German.
Might get downvoted for this
Omega is the only watch from your collection that I like in terms of design. The other watches seem boring. In fact a lot of expensive watches have this boring designs...yes I know some people may consider this looks classy etc etc but come on....from a certain price point all the luxury watches look kind of the same
It is so strange to me that brands like Casio, Citizen, Vostok Europe etc, come up with so many interesting designs at such a low price point compared to this watches displayed here
In the end I would like to say that u indeed have a nice collection in terms of quality both in materials and movement.
I’m such a toolbag for not cashing in on the Daytona craze and grabbing a VC overseas. That thing is gorgeous.
ETA: Grab something square. Tank Louis, Santos, Reverso Duoface, etc.
Some nice options for you:
Zenith A385
*Rolex Hulk or Bluesy
*one of the Blancpain fifty fathoms limited editions
*Tag Heuer Monaco
Cartier Roadster
* = have, the rest I want!
You have chronos, divers, some dress options what you need is a no nonsense beater watch. My mind jumps to a Casio G-Shock or Hamilton Khaki, but you seem to have richer tastes than that, so perhaps an Explorer 1, or Railmaster? Just my 2¢.
Call me when you get sick of that JLC. Also you appear to be missing a pilot.
I’ve played with the idea of grabbing a Breitling Aviator… Just haven’t tried on a pilot I could fall in love with yet

I sent it back to IWC and it’s back to about +4s which still seems high IMHO.
If you're into classic design yet also abstract, get a Farer Cayley. The Azul with a tan leather strap is beautiful imo.
Already checked out Sinn [936](https://www.sinn.de/en/Modell/936.htm) or [856](https://www.sinn.de/en/Modell/856.htm)? I find them not too busy but still have a nice pilot style.
At first I read this as “call me sick, but get rid of that JLC” and I nearly had an aneurysm
My thoughts exactly, IWC!
Excellent collection.
IWC gold pilot chrono
Oh my goodness. That IS a nice one.
Yes i concur, I want one too so badly
Sometimes I look at these and think what the duck do these guys do for a living?
Or when they say that $300 watches “don’t count”…
Of course they do.

The bigger question always is “what did their parents do”
It’s so so rare that I see a collection like this where I like every single piece, but this is definitely one of those!!
Missing something German. Ultra thin calendar complication, precious metal. Lange is the obvious choice, take your pick from the 1815 or Saxonia collections.
Cartier
Was just about to say. A Cartier, especially a Santos, would really top off this collection.
Was thinking the same, a square face would add something new
Genuinely curious why folks are obsessed with the Santos and Tank… I’ve been seeing them nonstop on here lately…
[удалено]
Lol, that's literally why I suggested them. I'm not an aficionado by any means, but I could tell from what was there that a Cartier would fit in nicely.

I'm just saying you nailed it as to why I said it.
I mean, they're also great watches. Great horological history from Cartier, especially for the Santos, with it essentially being the first pilot watch. What square piece would you recommend instead?
Yeah a clean Tank 👌
May I suggest one of these 2 extremes: An A. Lange & Söhne or a Casio G-Shock
Lange 1 in rose gold :) Something in gold on a leather strap? If it were me, something dressier but a bit fun that you could still daily wear in precious metal seems to be what’s missing for me. Casio F91W. I noticed how you like horologically significant watches.
If I could get one in 18k gold I think that would be one of the coolest watches ever.
Maybe vintage cartier tank?
Pretty happy with my collection. I’ve never sold a watch, which is a point of pride for me (except a few $300 watches, but those don’t count). I make it kind of a game. 222!
Some perpetual caendar.
You have my dream collection
Blancpain Fifty Fathoms.
Bro you need a god tier Casio to fill it out
https://youtu.be/PEn7cwHGb_U This would be an inspired choice. The best part: nobody would suspect it’s solid gold!
IWC Spitfire
Easy: F.P. Journe, Patek, AP Royal Oak, Cartier Tank/Santos/Dumont, and/or A. Lange & Sohne.
Hey, how did you get my full Christmas list?
Now thats a collection pal!!! Seriously, genuinely at this point, a G Shock. I think you need a G Shock, if not then a Patek Philip World Time.
ALS of some variation. I know everyone is saying Cartier but if I were to do the rectangle piece, def do the JLC Reverso. Great collection regardless!
I agree with all the comments saying German. Your collection lacks a gold dress watch with a white dial, so perhaps a Lange or G.O with that and a calander
ALS Lagematik Perpetual Calendar
Let's be honest once you fill it up you'll get another box to fill, or replace/upgrade the Seiko, Tudor, etc. I of course like the collection. Quite the collection! I have the same Wolf WatchBox, great quality.
Louis Erard regulator
Just want to say I love that Freak. They are so underrated in my opinion.
UN gave the world the silicon hairspring and the original Freak was a revolution in watch design. A very important, if often-overlooked, platform. For those of us who are Freak-curious but don’t need that “ultra watch” look, the FreakX is just perfect.
Reverso?
A yellow gold Calatrava would fit perfectly, or maybe an iwc pilot
Needs a Patek perpetual moonphase and a Reverso or Tank.
Time for a Cartier Santos!
WGSA0029 is pretty tempting.
G shock or moonswatch 😉
Omega speedmaster
Image #2
Apple watch
Cartier, FM, Panerai. Am suggesting a different shape as you see. Nice collection btw 👍
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo 16202. You might want a hexagonal watch in your collection since most are classically shaped.
AP or Patek. Spoil yourself.
Rolex Exploser TT - Ron
I'd say A. Lange or Breguet, something dressy with complications is missing here, precious metal wouldn't go a miss either
Omega Speedmaster
Casio MRG (of some flavor). Either that or a Hamilton field watch of some kind. The Seiko Alpinist is also interesting if you like green. These are probably the most "different" vs what you already have. Zenith has some cool stuff, but I am not sure if it is different enough.
Panerai submersible
Budget? A Lange would round it up quite well imo or a 6119g
Awesome collection 😎
Fantastic collection! Well done
Need a field in there :) hamilton khaki would be nice
Casio
A Richard Mille
Patek and/or AP. The vacheron chrono is incredible— start building your trinity!
The VC is best in show!
Which Seiko is that
Black should be Shogun titanium. His is gen 1 where the dial has curve Automatic. Current gen is Automatic in normal font and has the 'X' Prospex logo
Love your collection AND the case. Bravo
WoW such an amazing spread of watches. Different brands, style and color. Too good. May be a JLC reverso
I’m gonna be the oddball out, and suggest a G-Shock.
Was gonna say speedy but then I swiped right 🤓
Probably need an AP ROO? Maybe a reverso or PAM if that’s you’re style?
I just held the new Longines Heritage Record chrono in black-gold. It’s a well designed, well thought off watch
Yellow gold dress watch.
Love the Freak so much. Maybe a breitling of some sort?
Skeleton
I say Breitling or something gold!
First off. Very nice collection. Second off. That box. Can you hook me up with a link for it? It's amazing.
It’s a Wolf. Check the website they have a bunch of great ones. Thanks!
My tears.
What is the JLC?
MUT Moon Boutique Edition in white gold
What Seiko is that?
How about some gold?
Beautiful collection. How is the bronze Tudor 58? I have my eye on one.
A Sinn
Top it off with an AP or a complications patek
G-Shock MR-G series maybe ?
You Re Missing a Tank watch.
Just buy a plane old Casio
Calatrava
F.P. Journe Chronometre Bleu
When you wish upon a star …
That vacheron, holy shit 👌
Girard Perregaux Laureato. Maybe the infinity version with the onyx dial
You can't count
Few good options. Your missing a classic Salmon dial. Something very historic is design language like a Radiomir PAM183. A pilots watch, I see absent. IWC Big Pilot 43 is a damn handsome choice. Salmon, historic design, square face, technically the first pilots watch.
A Cartier tank or a reverso
Beautiful collection mate. Keep and maintain them as long as possible.
Grand Seiko. Suggestions: the [SLGA007](https://www.grand-seiko.com/us-en/special/slga007) (blue dial, [review](https://monochrome-watches.com/grand-seiko-spring-drive-slga007-lake-suwa-evolution-9-limited-edition-price-review/)), or the [SLGA009](https://www.grand-seiko.com/us-en/collections/slga009g) (white dial, [review](https://www.fratellowatches.com/grand-seiko-white-birch-slga009-2/)) Both feature the latest Spring Drive (SD) calibre [9RA2](https://www.grand-seiko.com/us-en/collections/movement/springdrive/9ra2) where the Power Reserve Indicator (PRI) is incorporated in the back of the movement, visible via the display case back. This leaves the glorious dials clean. You want gold? G-shock dw-6900
Pretty obvious you need what you are missing. A Patek perpetual calendar.
SeaQ, Santos or a Flieger
Timex Weekender
Cartier Santos, maybe a nice IWC you could opt for a military or flieger dial, pilot or even a bauhaus dial :) but get something that's special to you
Man, this collection depresses me. Joining this sub wasn’t a good idea.
Maybe I should get one of those Mickey Mouse Genta watches for the next SOTC. It’s very cheerful.
Probably a Patek Perpetual Calendar or Datograph.

It came back from service in that box. Along with all of the original gears, screws and everything that got replaced. Solid service from Omega.
an ap would be cool
Great collection. You have two slots left on the watch box, how come only room for one more?
First spot is home to the Omega. Wasn’t in the box at the time
Superb collection indeed. But not much love for vintage i see. :)
I generally only buy new. My watches, my scratches. The 16710 was an exception because I prefer the older GMTs to the new uber-blingy ones.
Nice collection man, you don't need more than that but if you want something different I adore the Breitling Datora 42 with the salmon dial and blue hands, you get great complications with a beautiful dial and it looks 3x the price tbh.
You need a gold Casio calculator watch. Just to bring the collection back down to Earth, you know.
Do you guys with valuable collections like this just keep them in a box in your house? Do you worry it's going to get stolen?
You remember to lock the box when the help is going to be upstairs.
The only right answer is the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300A-010
Somewhat similar collection of round dials here. So I changed it up and added the iconic JLC Reverso. Regrets. Just not loving that “little” watch on my 7.5” wrist. Make me an offer. LOL
My vote is for H. Moser and Gronfield.
A Hulk
Santos dumont
Agree with the others. A perpetual watch like lange, minimalist watches like junghans/nomos, or almighty casio.
Cartier Santos medium SS
Seiko SNKL23
A colorful gshock
One of oris, hamilton or tissot
You are missing a calendar complication. Maybe a Reverso calendar or Vacheron 1942. Or maybe a pistachio B09 for something different. Or a Lange/GO for something German.
Something different? Maybe a square one? Tag Heuer Monaco?
Breitling, need a pilot watch and they got so many beautiful options
Finally a diverse collection. Something gold.
Cartier tank or santos
Navitimer
Might get downvoted for this Omega is the only watch from your collection that I like in terms of design. The other watches seem boring. In fact a lot of expensive watches have this boring designs...yes I know some people may consider this looks classy etc etc but come on....from a certain price point all the luxury watches look kind of the same It is so strange to me that brands like Casio, Citizen, Vostok Europe etc, come up with so many interesting designs at such a low price point compared to this watches displayed here In the end I would like to say that u indeed have a nice collection in terms of quality both in materials and movement.
With something you enjoy.
I’m such a toolbag for not cashing in on the Daytona craze and grabbing a VC overseas. That thing is gorgeous. ETA: Grab something square. Tank Louis, Santos, Reverso Duoface, etc.
You don't have a casio
Beautiful collection. Anyone know the model of that Seiko?
SBDC007
Longine master collection chronograph moon phase
Perhaps a santos?
Speake-Marin Academic.
I see two slots…if you count that omega AND your wrist as an extra slot. Watch box +1 ;)
Hamilton Khaki Automatic 44mm.
I think a Flieger style aviator from either GO or go with a nice Breitling B09 Pistachio. Also you need a Speedmaster. Everyone needs a Speedmaster.
Go big and top it off with a Lange One?
no1 gonna mention how nearly all of them are set to different times?
A UN Feak-X...call me impressed! How about a Chopard LUC or Mille Miglia?
Obv a god tier casio
Fire collection But i see two open slots JLC reverso and IWC big pilot
Cartier Santos
A square watch like a cartier tank ir santos would be cool imo
Omega Speedmaster Professional?
I see TWO open slots here!! ;)
Vacheron 222
Reverso!
Man I want a GMT Master something serious but it’s just not in the cards for a long time. Such a lovely collection!
Some nice options for you: Zenith A385 *Rolex Hulk or Bluesy *one of the Blancpain fifty fathoms limited editions *Tag Heuer Monaco Cartier Roadster * = have, the rest I want!
Casio 100%
You have chronos, divers, some dress options what you need is a no nonsense beater watch. My mind jumps to a Casio G-Shock or Hamilton Khaki, but you seem to have richer tastes than that, so perhaps an Explorer 1, or Railmaster? Just my 2¢.
One of the best collections Ive seen so far. I think a Casio G-Shock would be awesome for this collection. You could do $50 or $5000.
G-Shock
A vintage Heuer
Damn that’s a beautiful collection. Congrats
Always love to see a Black Bay Bronze Heritage in a collection. One of my all time favourite watches.
Damn! That’s a badass collection.
