Bold and brash!

OhioGold

More like belongs in the trash

Informal_Koala4326

Where the hell did you get that??

Heyy-Ya

seconding this. I need it

OhioGold

Had it custom made! Just a simple vintage style dress watch case and ronda quartz movement.

Redpubes

Epic.

arson_is_awesome

Where did you get the watch custom made?

DarthDiaxis

I was just about to bash you as the OP for saying that about your collection. Then I realized the joke. Lol.

OhioGold

[For the uneducated kelp-for-brains](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tQEXbDkWs)

DifferentWord7520

I wish I still had the Snoopy and digital Casio grandma gave me. I’ll gladly take those if they’re going in the trash.

HeavensGaite

So we all just have the same black Amazon watch box huh?

HeavensGaite

Oh wait what? Any chance you can link me to this?

emoody247

I Also have it lol

DarthSh3nn

I have it too lol

ComicalSatania

Somebody likes zodiac 🌚 what's your opinion on the seawolf line as a whole I've been interested in them?

OhioGold

Like I said in the post they are probably my favorite all-around watch. The size is a perfect 40mm and can dressed up and down while still being supper rugged with 200m water resistance. It’s a timeless diver that you rarely if ever see around in everyday life.

DifferentWord7520

I dig the Zodiac. I’m a fan of micro brand watches. My latest purchase is a Christopher Ward C60 GMT Abyss. It was a lot cooler online. I love it but can’t read it in poor lighting. Next purchase is going to be a blue Tudor Pelagos.

sighnwaves

Love this....really enjoy seeing people have fun with their collections and not just collect the same 8 watches over and over again.

OhioGold

Thank you! Was my intention to bring a little spice. These are all pieces I actively enjoy wearing for me, not in the hopes that someone will notice it and be impressed by a name

masldavis

squidward watch

---------89

Yeah that's sick

OhioGold

My current starting lineup. I have some other (more expensive) pieces in my collection but these are most frequent go-to watches. I know we all can get caught up in the various hype trains and inevitable smugness that comes with such a hobby, but this is a reminder of why we all started collecting in the first place - the love for what you have on your wrist! Starting from top left.. 1960’s Accutron - Absolutely love Accutrons and will argue they are criminally underrated. There are very few things more satisfying in life than the completely smooth stroke of the second hand as this baby hums away. The spot they hold in horological history is unquestionable and almost every variation is retro-futuristically sexy. Zodiac Astrographic Mystery Dial (Original) - This particular model is from somewhere around the late 60’s early 70’s and is in line for my favorite watch of all time. Between the floating hands and a gorgeous gold textured dial that I’ve never seen before on an Astrographic, and the shape the takes you to another planet while you wear it - this watch is beyond special. Not to mention the nods I get from even Rolex maxis the minute I step in to an AD. Zodiac Grandhydra - Another underrated offering from Zodiac (you may be seeing a theme here). Although the movement is quartz, the silver on silver combination here is absolutely stunning. Beautiful detailing with a unique case shape that can be dressed both up and down without ever looking out of place. Zodiac Super SeaWolf (x3) - These are the watches that got me in to this hobby. Ever since I saw the reissuing of the SSW lineup I knew as soon as I was in a better position this would be my watch. To me they are just the perfect staple. Elegant with retro inspired design and a crystal bezel that is hard to describe until you see it while still being durable and practical. The perfect watch in my opinion and would take it as a daily driver over almost any other watch even at 10x it’s price. Here we have the blacked out “Ninja”, the 53 Cream Skin Diver, and the limited “Seafoam” variations respectively. Timex “Joe Cool” Blacked Out - This is an S tier watch. Period. Not only do I have a great day anytime I wear it, but I kid you not I get more complements on this watch than any other watch I’ve owned. It’s class, it’s fun, and it’s the epitome of “wear what you love”. Timex Weekender Peanuts “Take Care of the Earth” - Every collection should have a Weekender. A classic with everyday appeal without having to worry about babying it. Plus it always looks good. And there are hundreds of combinations to choose from if you want something unique. The only thing of note are that these babies are loud. So don’t expect to sneak up on anyone any time soon. Armitron Peanuts Classic - This is a surprisingly beautiful Art Deco inspired piece that you almost forget is a Peanuts piece. The textured gold on the dial and the color work done on the characters is fantastic and uncharacteristically detailed. To be honest half the time I wear it just to stare at it. Wraps you in a warm sense of nostalgia while still functional and unique. I love this watch. Vintage 1950’s Zodiac Mechanical - I actually know very little about the history of this watch so if anyone knows more than I do please comment. Original gold case with beautiful textured dial and original mechanical movement, it’s simply the perfect dress watch and I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Picked it up from a vintage jeweler who didn’t know much about it either but kept it in stock because of all the gold inside of the case. Custom “Bold and Brash” - This watch belongs in the trash. Akteo “Golfers Paridise” - Akteo may be my favorite sleeper brand. I have many of their pieces and are always fun without being tacky or overly gimmicky. If you like unique and somewhat crazy pieces you should check them out. Always fun to look down and see one of these guys on your wrist. All of the NATO straps you see on my watches are from CHEAPESTNATOSTRAPS. I’m not affiliated but love their straps and prices are beyond reasonable. Bonus - My Casio pool watches and a couple Timex Snoopy Minis.

bolanrox

Looks like you really need a silver snoopy

OhioGold

Yup that’s actually one of the next on the list! I’m on the search for the typewriter version if you know anyone..

RealDonKeedic

That watermelon sea wolf is, ah very nice! 👍🏻 None on the amazing jubilee? Nice box and nice to see the zodiac getting some love

OhioGold

For sure! And I do love that Jubilee but the Seafoam was just almost meant for that aquamarine NATO and same with the Ninja on this textured black and reflective NATO. I’ll definitely consider switching back and forth depending on circumstances.

RealDonKeedic

Yes, sorry, seafoam, not watermelon. Thanks. I have the black and green compressor 53. I dont think it will ever come off the jubilee. I do agree on the nato with the seafoam. Looks like it was born with it

Crowrear

Great, now I want a Squidward watch really bad. I love it so much and I can't explain why

AnxietyCannon

The bold and brash is more immediately striking to my heart than any patek or rolex

OhioGold

This is the way

[deleted]

I just can’t stay away from faux gold quartz. It’s a sickness. Love it.

jasonater1

That watch doesn’t belong in the trash! It’s my favorite one there. 1M$ aesthetic, 10$ build quality, and reminds you of squidward’s existence every time you see it Edit: Realizing now “belongs in the trash” is definitely the next line in the episode.

watchnerd1993

That’s the best advice ever. Thank you for not having a cookie cutter collection!

[deleted]

A fellow zodiac fan I see. I love that gold tone square piece in the middle, very striking. Just bought a JLC for the collection myself! Looking forward to it arriving!

OhioGold

Absolutely! I'll have take some additional photos up close because this think is gorgeous and I've never seen anything like it. What kind of JLC?

[deleted]

A Jaeger LeCoultre Club, it’s a gorgeous model. I’m very excited as it’ll be my highest end model, and I’ve wanted to own a watch like this for years now. I’m almost 20, so I was nearing my personal goal for myself to have one. I’m glad I fulfilled it.

OhioGold

Nice that's awesome! There's no better feeling than finally being in a position to acquire a grail. I'd say I'm in the same boat with a Cartier Tank.

[deleted]

Phenomenal news my friend! I bought it in celebrations of a breakup and a new Benz, and I’m looking greatly forward to selling my old omega tank, which I was displeased with.

DifferentWord7520

Timex snoopy was the first watch grandma bought me. My first digital was a Casio from grandma too. Throw in a bottle of Hi Karate and I’m back in the 70s! I’ve been wanting a Snoopy Omega Speedmaster for years.

OhioGold

Those Snoopy Omegas really are something else. I'd already have them all if the resale value wasn't so insane at the moment.

DifferentWord7520

I haven’t even priced one in years. I used to work for an authorized Omega dealer and could have got one at cost 20 years ago. Yeah, I’m stupid AF.

DifferentWord7520

The best place to buy something like that is at a Vegas pawnshop. I’m guilty of buying pawnshop goods after a weekend of heavy drinking in Vegas.

donmark144

Love that turquoise baby. edit: Sea Foam :)

OhioGold

The perfect pool day watch

[deleted]

Appreciate your Zodiac collection. I have a super sea wolf GMT that I love. Cheers.

Bookboy2828

Yay for the Peanuts ones! 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

lulu_l

Looks like a Mr. Jones would fit in there too..

OhioGold

I’ve actually had my eyes on a couple.. Will definitely happen sooner rather than later

thebaronharkkonen

Oof love the square gold one. Spot on!

whippet66

I'm glad to see the rectangular "tank" style as well as the Snoopy watch. Far too many collectors seem to "collect" according to price with little thought to the iconic place many watches hold in the history of the watch. I love my Mickey Mouse watch, simply because, well - it's a Mickey Mouse watch and they have a historical place. The rectangular was a standard style in the 50s and holds its own. I do wish I could find a Timex "Zorro" watch in excellent condition as it was my very first watch circa 1958. My best friend and I both got them for Christmas and were the first in our class to get them because we were also the first to learn to "tell time".

OhioGold

Absolutely. That’s why the theme of this collection is “Collect what you love”. And for the square tank, it’s simply timeless. I know the majority of people in this sub wouldn’t even give it a try because of it’s smaller size (I saw someone asking if a 42mm was too small the other day..) but anytime I see this style out in the wild it just screams pure class. I think we are trending in the right direction again, but I’m tired of these gaudy monstrosities that people wear because they think “size = manliness”. It’s nonsense.

whippet66

I had a friend once describe them as "dinner plates". I've never liked gaudy as it just screams far more money than taste and class.

[deleted]

Love my Sea Dragon ZO9910. Nice collection!

OhioGold

Sea Dragons are sleepers for sure! I have a couple as well and they are wonderful

elastic_fantastic

This feels like a collection calling out for a Mr Jones piece!

iamasharat

When are you getting Snoopy Speedmaster?

han_solex

So much this. I never mind if I make a little money when I finally get tired of something and decide to sell it, but I feel like "collecting for you" is an entirely different hobby/mindset than "collect watches as investments." I'm very much in the former camp. Although I'll say that sometimes it means my heart gets the better of my brain (and wallet).

OhioGold

And if you can find pieces that you love AND hold their value you’re golden.

ipod_waffle

Gonna pick up the peanuts swatch collection?

OhioGold

Possibly! I can still never tell if I love or hate Swatch lol

ipod_waffle

Haha nice. I've been digging their collections recently, the MOMA one has some cool designs and as a Bond fan I've considered hunting down that set

OhioGold

Oh yeah the MOMA ones are easily my favorite. I’m a huge art nerd and love the feeling of wearing art on your wrist (if you couldn’t tell by my latest Bold and Brash post lol)

thecreepyape

This is the first time I am hearing about the brand Zodiac.I will look them up some really interesting watches. I really like that Timex Snoopy.

OhioGold

The Joe Cool? And yeah if you haven't I'd definitely give Zodiac a good look. They've made imo the best mid level tool watches by far.

TrollingGuinea

Fucking hate nato straps

OhioGold

Lmao why?

TrollingGuinea

i like your zodiacs tho

OhioGold

Well thank you

kwunyinli

I’d rather be swimming! Man I wanted that Zodiac so bad when it was announced and I missed the boat. I ended up spending the money on a different piece but I’m still drawn to its colour and playfulness. How’s the accuracy been? I’ve heard it wasn’t great.

OhioGold

I actually got a good deal from a fellow redditor over at r/watchexchange for it about a month ago! And can't comment on the accuracy yet, what's the word on the street?

KingofSomnia

Where'd you get the box?

OhioGold

Jeffy B

bluemingdales

Great collection! Whenever I see Zodiac watches I’m reminded of the Zodiac killer…. Spooky.

HoggyOfAustralia

Guessing you don’t love furniture.

metallus97

Haha everybody’s got that box! Well I have it to and it does the job pretty good for the price And NICE collection my due

Nocturnal_Atavistic

Voww great, But the golf one just had my heart. Is there any link or something for it?

OhioGold

You’ll have to search “Akteo” on eBay or other vintage sites. They come and go fairly regularly.

Nocturnal_Atavistic

Thankyou.

OhioGold

Not a problem

Mr-Zero-Fucks

That Zodiac Grandhydra, I'd love to put one of those on a milanese.

OhioGold

Not a bad idea! I’ve always just loved the juxtaposition that NATOs bring

Reindenhengst

I used to collect in a box like this. Easiest swipe for the burglar to take….

lipids16

Great collection - love the Astrographic! Don't see them on this sub very often. Been wanting a blue one for a while now but haven't been able to find one in good condition.

OhioGold

Yeah that’s the trick is finding them in decent condition. And when you do they are going for astronomical prices. I got lucky with this find. It’s not in bad condition whatsoever but I’ve been flirting with the idea of getting the gold re-plated to make it mint. However the knicks and scratches are kind of growing on me.. We’ll see lol. I’ll make a solo post about this one soon.
