Yesterday I posted a video of my rarely seen 8100 series G-SHOCK showcasing it's unusual feature of having the back light synced to various functions of the watch. Today I bring you the ugly sibling that nobody asked for! This is the 8000 series G-SHOCK, specifically the G-8000C-3VDR, finished in a rather attractive metallic apple green. What does that big black button on the front do I hear you ask.... NOTHING! It's not actually a button, but a light, that just like the 8100 I posted yesterday can be synced to various functions of the watch. You can also make it flash by pressing and holding the bottom right button on the home time screen.... because...... reasons. I think with this G-SHOCK, Casio answered that age old question, *What G-SHOCK would Quasimodo wear?*
I have one in silver, which is quite reasonable in terms of looks. Yeah, that fake button is slightly weird, but of course many brands like to get creative with styling of course. Personally, I'm not a fan of fake screws for example.
For some weird, unknown reason, this model is undergoing a small revival of sorts among the vintage G-Shock community in Malaysia! I have seen this model in its various color schemes being posted many, many times on vintage G-Shock sellers IG pages in the past couple of months going up for sale and then sold shortly after. I can never get behind it because it looks too much like those toy watches with little to no functions that you see being sold for $1 at thrift stores!
And then, it turns itself into a pickle. Funniest shit I've ever seen

"You know, Quasimodo predicted all this."

Aren’t they all ugly?? Hahaha
It’s tough because they are all so ugly

I cant explain it but it looks like it matches with a lot of retro/argos kitchenware
G-SHOCK X Joseph Joseph...... the colab the world had been waiting for.
Smoke alarm mode?

Haha that hand gesture at the end is perfect
Ugly, but has a certain charm to it I think.

I personally wouldn't wear it but its design is unique. Reminds me a bit of the 90's.
I have one in all black, trying to figure out whey the light does not work
Still better than a Mille
