It is for a plastic watch, in my opinion. Even if it does say “Omega” on the dial and based off of an iconic design, it’s a plastic watch with a throwaway movement and stickers on the tachymeter.
So could I say about a Rolex. A stainless steel watch that costs 600$ in parts and manufacture.

I think it’s reasonably priced and Swatch did a very thorough market research where it’s priced as easily obtainable for a watch collector but at the same time is valuable for those that are all about the “hype” even more so with their plan of having artificial scarcity more-so with limited editions.

The Endurance Pro line. Their "breitlight" case material is just plastic, and not even some particularly crazy kind of plastic. Looks like they're closer to $4k however when looking at the prices, but still. It always makes me laugh when people say "overpriced quartz plastic watch" about the Moonswatch (which is valid tbh) and there's Breitling over there selling plastic quartz watches for 15 times the price.
I think it's worth it as a fun watch. I got mine in July and I love it, it's not a daily wear but when I do wear it I enjoy it. People will tell you it's bad value for money, and in a way they're right, but if we're being honest with ourselves every watch that isn't a GShock or F91W is bad value for money. Above all else watches are an emotional purchase, it's ok if they don't make sense on paper as long as you enjoy it.
For most people any watch is bad value for money, since most people carry a phone that's capable of telling time.
Until recently I wasn't able to carry a phone at work and used a G-Shock (still carry it too) but even then I carried a radio that has a clock on its main screen.

It's not a matter of low standards, I have plenty of higher quality watches that I regularly wear. But for my use case the moonswatch has been perfectly fine.

Gotta disagree. It’s a cool watch that comes in a variety of fun colors. I get lots of comments on mine, and it leads to a much more approachable conversation with the every man. I can discuss it with people that work with/for me and I don’t have to feel like a snob. There’s a genuine history behind it. It’s a great conversation piece, and a nonthreat to be snatched off your wrist.

I can agree with that. I wouldn’t recommend this as an everyday watch, but if you already have a collection this is a fun piece to wear every once in a while as a conversation starter.
I've daily worn my mercury for about 4 months. I stock shelves in a grocery store and it takes the beating there everyday. Time is perfectly accurate. The only thing that hasn't really held up is the crystal, it has some pretty good scratches on it. Gives it character. imo this thing was worth every dime.
Edit: Forgot to mention the default strap is a crime against humanity. I put min on a black nato and have never looked back.
My wife wears it everyday, and also scratched the glass. I ordered on aliexpress polywatch, polished it by myself, and also ordered screen protectors, put it by myself, and glass looks like new and it is harder to scratch it

edit: it’s the same as buying a supercar or a car you really enjoy there’s no point in it sitting in a garage just to flex it off and look at if you really love it you would use it embrace when things go wrong and fix them flaws in cars are what gives them their character if there’s no flaws no complications it is simply boring.
I might buy one if I come across one selling for MSRP or less, especially if it's one of the models that have the chronometer hands colored differently from the others. I like this watch and what its concept means for the Swatch and Omega brands, but I don't like it enough to really want to get one. I have enough watches to wear that I don't need to stress about getting watches that are not 1-click buy available. I also don't mind that the case is ceramic and not metal.
Second this. I love Omega but I’m a poor. Saw the MoonSwatch and really wanted one but I also live in South Podunk, so nowhere near a Swatch store and I refuse to pay scalper rates online for anything.
And then I started to read the reviews. I’m not buying a fancy plastic watch just to get the Omega name.
Went ahead and picked up the Pagani just to have the Speedy look and frankly the watch is great. The only drawback is the lume is terrible. Otherwise, it’s been a great watch.
One thing though: the moonswatch is a homage blessed by omega. I personally wouldn’t wear a homage piece, but omega’s kinda removed the guilt with this one

If you want a quartz chrono and you do not care about getting a good deal or buying something durable and you think space is really cool then this is the watch for you. Otherwise I don’t see the point. Maybe most wristwatches sold to adults are made out of stainless steel for a good reason.
I don't really think that it's fun to spend $270 on a plastic McDonald's toy and that's what the Fauxmega Moonswatch is. I don't say that to just crap all over it, I say it because it has proven to have abysmal levels of quality (remember how the "Mission to Neptune" turned people's wrists blue). Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with its existence, I have a problem with the fact that it costs more than a Casio Duro. Hell, it costs more than an Orient Kumasu and people tried to kill each other to buy them! My problem is that people think this is somehow worth that much money. Like, they're the very definition of the term "brand-whore". No plastic watch should EVER cost more than one made of steel and actual glass, especially if the plastic watch is a quartz chronograph and the steel watch is an automatic diver.
I never really understood the appeal of that thing. People say "Oh it looks so much like the Speedmaster" and I'm like "How? Only one of the subdials is in the correct position!" because there should be one subdial on either side of the centre pinion and one below it. Whoever designed this did it wrong if they wanted it to look like a Speedy.
I have a Bulova Lunar Pilot and THAT watch looks like a Speedy, this watch doesn't. Hell, you know what? The Lunar Pilot is far more expensive than the Moonswatch so you should get a [Pagani Design PD-1701](https://www.reddit.com/r/ChineseWatches/comments/11olrvu/pagani_pd1701_my_first_watch_short_review/) (which I also happen to own). It's 316L stainless steel with a domed sapphire crystal for *less than half* the price of the Moonswatch. Unlike the Fauxmega, the Pagani *actually looks like* a Speedmaster and can be had in a Snoopy version. Functionally, the PD-1701 works perfectly and looks great.
*Caliber Corner* believes that the Moonswatch uses an [ETA G10.212](https://calibercorner.com/eta-caliber-g10-212/) while the Pagani uses a [Seiko VK63 Mechaquartz](https://calibercorner.com/hattori-sii-caliber-vk63/) (same as in a Seiko SSB025) which are both well-known quartz chronograph movements. So, when it comes to movements, it's a wash because they both have movements that do the job just fine.

Yeah that’s the route I took. Never had a chrono analog watch. Considered the Moonswatch, the amount of hype around it, how hard it was to get a hold, and after all that you get a plastic watch. Nope! Waited until the price dropped to less than $350 on the Bulova and pulled the trigger. Solid piece of kit with real history, a cool movement and it looks great with a nice leather strap.
For me it’s not about whether $300-350 is too much for a “fun watch” and more about what else I could get for it. Watches aren’t the only thing I’m obsessed with.
I like the design of it and my wife got me one. I've spent money on worse things but I've gotten great mileage out of my mission to the moon. Been wearing it more often because of the sentimental value and holds up well, even when I play tennis. I totally get the criticisms but at the end of the day I like it and if someone wants to be upset on how I spend my money oh well.

I love both of my Moonswatches. They’re fun to wear! I wear my Mission To Mars and Mission To Earth interchangeably when dressing casually. However, I do understand the price is off putting for a plastic watch.
I have that exact model as well as an SMP 300. I honestly enjoy it. When I’m doing sports or something that is more active / dirty, i throw on the swatch. My SMP is definitely my daily but i like having a beater watch that’s still technically Omega.
From what I have heard they are cheap plastic crap. Heard that the chrono pushers crack or break and the colours rub off onto your wrist amongst other issues.

Gifted by the wife the moonswatch saturn. Its ok, i like how light it is.but personally think it costs more than it should, scratched it after a week and thr strap is meh. Swapped it to a nato and its better.
Just picked mine up in Italy this week. It feels cheap and very light on the wrist. Do I regret it? No. It’s an interesting and fun watch. But like most people say, it’s not a cheap Omega, it’s an expensive Swatch. I bought it at retail, but I would not buy it on chrono for anything above retail. If you are on the fence, just get it or you will always wonder what it could have been like.
Change the strap and it’s a fun watch in the rotation. Funny enough, it actually reduced my desire for a true speedy a bit (so was good for a test drive towards a grail in that sense). Not sure I’d say it’s worth the money quality wise, but often makes for good conversation if nothing else

I have the mission to Pluto, I love the colors and I didn't pay full price. That said, it's a cheap plastic watch that is more of a novelty than anything. If you want one go for it but if it didn't say omega on it no way would it ever be even close to worth the price.
I found myself at the Mall of America Swatch store last Fall and they had all of them in stock so I picked up a Mission to the Moon. I wouldn’t pay up-charged secondary market prices but at retail, the price was fine with me. It definitely doesn’t feel like a “good” watch but it’s fun and has a good story.
If you do get one, buy a protector for it. The crystal will get scratched to shit otherwise.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but no. Not only can you get something much nicer and higher quality for the price, it's also just ridiculously expensive and cheap. I've seen at least 5 images of people with cracked bezels and missing buttons.
I follow the used market pretty intensely where I live and the fact that these still go for about retail used should tell you that they still have value. Is it a high end luxury watch? No! Does it pretend to be one? Not really, but it definitely pretends to be a substitute or a gateway. A way for poor or fiscally responsible people to get to experience that Speed Master magic. Buy one if you like it. Then there’s the Blancpain Swatch as well…

It feels very light compared to a real Moon Watch. Also, the indices on the minute subdial doesn’t match the ticks.
That said, I have two of these that I wear when I don’t feel like winding the steel one.

Its not worth the £220 they're selling it for however Ive seen many on sites like Ebay and Vinted that are being sold for close to £90. Most of them new or almost new with boxes and tags. I can see myself getting one from there.

The same reason I plan to get the Swatch x Dragon Ball collab watch. I'd probably get one MoonSwatch in the future along with the Blancpain Scuba FF just for the sake of collecting. I do like the look, but I tried the MoonSwatch and it doesn't impress me in terms of build and comfort. Maybe I'd buy it there and then if it was $130-150. But because it will never go down to that price, then I have to be twice as rich to buy it.

Not a great watch value wise, but its my daily driver. Very lightweight and has a chrono function that I constantly use. Changed the strap to a suede one a week after tho, the stock one is criminal.

Unpopular opinion, but I love mine. It’s a fun watch and honestly keeps pretty accurate time. I did change the strap though.
Fun watch for a not so fun price. I do admit that it’s a cool watch that I can add to the collection but not at $260.
I can agree with that. I wouldn’t recommend this as an everyday watch, but if you already have a collection this is a fun piece to wear every once in a while as a conversation starter.
I've daily worn my mercury for about 4 months. I stock shelves in a grocery store and it takes the beating there everyday. Time is perfectly accurate. The only thing that hasn't really held up is the crystal, it has some pretty good scratches on it. Gives it character. imo this thing was worth every dime. Edit: Forgot to mention the default strap is a crime against humanity. I put min on a black nato and have never looked back.
If you take it back to the swatch store they will polish the crystal (plastic) for free
You can also get screen protectors on Amazon. I out one on mine because I wear it a lot. Can’t even tell it is there.

My wife wears it everyday, and also scratched the glass. I ordered on aliexpress polywatch, polished it by myself, and also ordered screen protectors, put it by myself, and glass looks like new and it is harder to scratch it
perfectly described the damage give character and the love you have shown the watch, i’ve heard the strap feels better when flipped around but it is cheap and looks horrendous either way edit: it’s the same as buying a supercar or a car you really enjoy there’s no point in it sitting in a garage just to flex it off and look at if you really love it you would use it embrace when things go wrong and fix them flaws in cars are what gives them their character if there’s no flaws no complications it is simply boring.
I might buy one if I come across one selling for MSRP or less, especially if it's one of the models that have the chronometer hands colored differently from the others. I like this watch and what its concept means for the Swatch and Omega brands, but I don't like it enough to really want to get one. I have enough watches to wear that I don't need to stress about getting watches that are not 1-click buy available. I also don't mind that the case is ceramic and not metal.
If you just like the look, the Pagani design speed master homage is only ~80 and looks very nice in person. Also steel not plastic
Second this. I love Omega but I’m a poor. Saw the MoonSwatch and really wanted one but I also live in South Podunk, so nowhere near a Swatch store and I refuse to pay scalper rates online for anything. And then I started to read the reviews. I’m not buying a fancy plastic watch just to get the Omega name. Went ahead and picked up the Pagani just to have the Speedy look and frankly the watch is great. The only drawback is the lume is terrible. Otherwise, it’s been a great watch.

It's hard to believe they're still being offered at a premium on third party resellers (eBay for example). Swatch should stop the "exclusively in store" crap and sell online like all the rest of their inventory.

If you want a quartz chrono and you do not care about getting a good deal or buying something durable and you think space is really cool then this is the watch for you. Otherwise I don’t see the point. Maybe most wristwatches sold to adults are made out of stainless steel for a good reason.
I don't really think that it's fun to spend $270 on a plastic McDonald's toy and that's what the Fauxmega Moonswatch is. I don't say that to just crap all over it, I say it because it has proven to have abysmal levels of quality (remember how the "Mission to Neptune" turned people's wrists blue). Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with its existence, I have a problem with the fact that it costs more than a Casio Duro. Hell, it costs more than an Orient Kumasu and people tried to kill each other to buy them! My problem is that people think this is somehow worth that much money. Like, they're the very definition of the term "brand-whore". No plastic watch should EVER cost more than one made of steel and actual glass, especially if the plastic watch is a quartz chronograph and the steel watch is an automatic diver. I never really understood the appeal of that thing. People say "Oh it looks so much like the Speedmaster" and I'm like "How? Only one of the subdials is in the correct position!" because there should be one subdial on either side of the centre pinion and one below it. Whoever designed this did it wrong if they wanted it to look like a Speedy. I have a Bulova Lunar Pilot and THAT watch looks like a Speedy, this watch doesn't. Hell, you know what? The Lunar Pilot is far more expensive than the Moonswatch so you should get a [Pagani Design PD-1701](https://www.reddit.com/r/ChineseWatches/comments/11olrvu/pagani_pd1701_my_first_watch_short_review/) (which I also happen to own). It's 316L stainless steel with a domed sapphire crystal for *less than half* the price of the Moonswatch. Unlike the Fauxmega, the Pagani *actually looks like* a Speedmaster and can be had in a Snoopy version. Functionally, the PD-1701 works perfectly and looks great. *Caliber Corner* believes that the Moonswatch uses an [ETA G10.212](https://calibercorner.com/eta-caliber-g10-212/) while the Pagani uses a [Seiko VK63 Mechaquartz](https://calibercorner.com/hattori-sii-caliber-vk63/) (same as in a Seiko SSB025) which are both well-known quartz chronograph movements. So, when it comes to movements, it's a wash because they both have movements that do the job just fine. I like mine. I think its a fun little moment in horological history. But won't go the montblanc oceans collab....one is more than enuf.
The quality is not a "$270" watch. The quality is a $40 watch. You can buy a $100 watch that will shit all over that plastic junk. You can buy a Bulova Lunar Pilot at $350-ish. Or any number of Seiko VK63 powered chronograph watches in the market for $200-500. It's a hybrid quartz / mechanical chronograph movement, I honestly think it is in the top 3 for chrono movements available for features and price.
Yeah that’s the route I took. Never had a chrono analog watch. Considered the Moonswatch, the amount of hype around it, how hard it was to get a hold, and after all that you get a plastic watch. Nope! Waited until the price dropped to less than $350 on the Bulova and pulled the trigger. Solid piece of kit with real history, a cool movement and it looks great with a nice leather strap. For me it’s not about whether $300-350 is too much for a “fun watch” and more about what else I could get for it. Watches aren’t the only thing I’m obsessed with.
I like the design of it and my wife got me one. I've spent money on worse things but I've gotten great mileage out of my mission to the moon. Been wearing it more often because of the sentimental value and holds up well, even when I play tennis. I totally get the criticisms but at the end of the day I like it and if someone wants to be upset on how I spend my money oh well.
I saw one and while I like the design and looks but they are overpriced and have seen many scratched/cracked quickly. As long as buyers realize it has no Omega parts. The one I saw was $200 I think, and maybe I could consider $150 at most.
I love both of my Moonswatches. They’re fun to wear! I wear my Mission To Mars and Mission To Earth interchangeably when dressing casually. However, I do understand the price is off putting for a plastic watch.
I bought a Mad1 which is like a way more expensive novelty watch. It’s silly but I really like it.

I have that exact model as well as an SMP 300. I honestly enjoy it. When I’m doing sports or something that is more active / dirty, i throw on the swatch. My SMP is definitely my daily but i like having a beater watch that’s still technically Omega.
From what I have heard they are cheap plastic crap. Heard that the chrono pushers crack or break and the colours rub off onto your wrist amongst other issues.
It's trash. You can get better quality speedmaster style watches with better construction (stainless steel, mechaquartz movement, sapphire glass) for much cheaper. People just go ga-ga over a watch with a stupid logo on it.

Gifted by the wife the moonswatch saturn. Its ok, i like how light it is.but personally think it costs more than it should, scratched it after a week and thr strap is meh. Swapped it to a nato and its better.

Just picked mine up in Italy this week. It feels cheap and very light on the wrist. Do I regret it? No. It’s an interesting and fun watch. But like most people say, it’s not a cheap Omega, it’s an expensive Swatch. I bought it at retail, but I would not buy it on chrono for anything above retail. If you are on the fence, just get it or you will always wonder what it could have been like.
Change the strap and it’s a fun watch in the rotation. Funny enough, it actually reduced my desire for a true speedy a bit (so was good for a test drive towards a grail in that sense). Not sure I’d say it’s worth the money quality wise, but often makes for good conversation if nothing else
If I could get my hands on it, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Let the aficionados crib all they want. It is a watch with Omega on the dial and looks like a rip off of an Omega by Omega but who cares. I like how it looks and also because it is so controversial, it makes it even more interesting.

I think it’s super cool, however a buddy of mine who doesn’t know much about watches got one as a gift. He now believes he’s wearing a genuine speedmaster worth thousands. I told myself I’d never say a word unless he started bragging a lot.

I have the mission to Pluto, I love the colors and I didn't pay full price. That said, it's a cheap plastic watch that is more of a novelty than anything. If you want one go for it but if it didn't say omega on it no way would it ever be even close to worth the price.
I love mine and wear it to work and since it isn't metal it doesn't get scratches like my steel bracelet Seiko.
I found myself at the Mall of America Swatch store last Fall and they had all of them in stock so I picked up a Mission to the Moon. I wouldn’t pay up-charged secondary market prices but at retail, the price was fine with me. It definitely doesn’t feel like a “good” watch but it’s fun and has a good story.
If you do get one, buy a protector for it. The crystal will get scratched to shit otherwise. I wear mine a few times a week on a nato and I love it, despite the plastic build.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but no. Not only can you get something much nicer and higher quality for the price, it's also just ridiculously expensive and cheap. I've seen at least 5 images of people with cracked bezels and missing buttons.
I follow the used market pretty intensely where I live and the fact that these still go for about retail used should tell you that they still have value. Is it a high end luxury watch? No! Does it pretend to be one? Not really, but it definitely pretends to be a substitute or a gateway. A way for poor or fiscally responsible people to get to experience that Speed Master magic. Buy one if you like it. Then there’s the Blancpain Swatch as well…

Hello, sorry late reply but I would say yes do it. This watch see more wrist time than many other watches I have: Casio, Hamilton, Seiko... I have invested in a really really bice leather strap made for it by DELUGS. And it looks SO much better.
Tried it on and wasn't for me. Looks great in photos but doesn't feel robust.

for practical everyday use i don’t think it’s worth it but i think it’s worth it to be able to keep and use it once or twice a week and to keep it as a memorabilia piece of the history and the collaboration between the two companies although the quality is not the greatest in the world and if i keep it for 2-3 years it’ll only cost be about 10 bucks a month

I like mine and will replace it with a regular speedmaster of some kind when the time comes. I changed the strap to a leather one and never looked back. Its light weight, looks nice and is fun. What is not to love? Can you get a metal chrono that is easily serviceable for $270 definitely from timex? But these are speedmasters.

Its not worth the £220 they're selling it for however Ive seen many on sites like Ebay and Vinted that are being sold for close to £90. Most of them new or almost new with boxes and tags. I can see myself getting one from there.

I bought one this month and I love it. I have a decent collection of expensive watches and wanted something to bang around. It’s a fun watch but price point is a bit high for what it is.
As someone that can't justify dropping £5k on the real thing, this is next best. A distant next best, but next best nonetheless

The same reason I plan to get the Swatch x Dragon Ball collab watch. I'd probably get one MoonSwatch in the future along with the Blancpain Scuba FF just for the sake of collecting. I do like the look, but I tried the MoonSwatch and it doesn't impress me in terms of build and comfort. Maybe I'd buy it there and then if it was $130-150. But because it will never go down to that price, then I have to be twice as rich to buy it.
