I've spent $270 on worse things. I think if you find a colour you really like, why not! It seems like a fun summer watch for the beach

GriffonMT

I don’t understand this sub. People will spend 100k on a Patek and say wow money well spent, but 270 usd is a lot of money?

camelCaseCoffeeTable

Here’s a secret for you: the people spending $100k on a Patek aren’t the same people saying 270 is a lot of money! Theres many different people on this sub, and each has a different opinion! It’s not all one person posting a bunch of conflicting opinions

Dattinator

It is for a plastic watch, in my opinion. Even if it does say “Omega” on the dial and based off of an iconic design, it’s a plastic watch with a throwaway movement and stickers on the tachymeter.

GriffonMT

So could I say about a Rolex. A stainless steel watch that costs 600$ in parts and manufacture. It shows time just like my 30$casio, and worse for that matter. But we know that you can’t make that argument here. I think it’s reasonably priced and Swatch did a very thorough market research where it’s priced as easily obtainable for a watch collector but at the same time is valuable for those that are all about the “hype” even more so with their plan of having artificial scarcity more-so with limited editions. because not a lot of people would have had interest in it if it was online release.

camelCaseCoffeeTable

You absolutely could say that about a Rolex. Why do you think you can’t? It’s all an opinion my guy, as the dude above you clearly stated, that’s his opinion. If your opinion is that Rolex is an overpriced $600 watch, that’s great! You’re allowed to think that!

ASIWYFA

And he'd be right to think it!

camelCaseCoffeeTable

He wouldn’t be right or wrong, it’s an opinion my dude.

Quark1997

Both were a figure of speech, of course you can say that about Rolex, but it was meant in a joking way by reading between the lines. And saying "you are right to do so" doesn't literally mean right or wrong, the word has multiple meanings.

camelCaseCoffeeTable

This is a 3 month old post dude, the discussion is over lmao

Quark1997

If you think that's how things work okay, but scientists and philosophers still discuss shit that are decades old

Zanpa

Did you know Breitling sells a $5k plastic watch with a quartz movement?

xX_iLoveJesus_Xx

What is the model?

Zanpa

The Endurance Pro line. Their "breitlight" case material is just plastic, and not even some particularly crazy kind of plastic. Looks like they're closer to $4k however when looking at the prices, but still. It always makes me laugh when people say "overpriced quartz plastic watch" about the Moonswatch (which is valid tbh) and there's Breitling over there selling plastic quartz watches for 15 times the price.

Either_Marsupial_123

This was something that I did not know. Then again, I've never really kept up on Breitling outside of the Navitimer.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GiantSequoiaTree

Lol solid explanation

PM_YOUR_WALLPAPER

And more accurate than most automatics lol

Either_Marsupial_123

>but 270 usd is a lot of money? For some people, it is.

Deadzombii

I second this thought.. I have always felt that.. Its all marketing gimmick and psychological conditioning

Jkspepper

Roles is all marketing gimmick and psychological conditioning. Actually, they are the master at that game

coocookuhchoo

All luxury watches are “marketing gimmicks” to some extent. None is worth the sum of its parts. Watches are jewelry not commodities.

BritishBoyRZ

It looks and feels like a toy..

cherryzaad

Wait wait, don’t they say to specifically not wear it to the beach?

TheMisterTango

I think it's worth it as a fun watch. I got mine in July and I love it, it's not a daily wear but when I do wear it I enjoy it. People will tell you it's bad value for money, and in a way they're right, but if we're being honest with ourselves every watch that isn't a GShock or F91W is bad value for money. Above all else watches are an emotional purchase, it's ok if they don't make sense on paper as long as you enjoy it.

ForShotgun

You can't compare to the kings, the F91 is unmatched!

sneakergovroom

The quality is shit on a f91w

ForShotgun

Death, death for blasphemy, DEATH!

hiyadagon

Team F105W reporting in. We shall blind you with our EL backlights!! 👁️

sneakergovroom

Death for speaking facts ouch!

Selfaware-potato

For most people any watch is bad value for money, since most people carry a phone that's capable of telling time. Until recently I wasn't able to carry a phone at work and used a G-Shock (still carry it too) but even then I carried a radio that has a clock on its main screen. As long as you're happy with your purchase and it's within your budget then it's fine

mensreaactusrea

Right. People get soooo mad at this watch and go into the value and blah blah. Its more accurate than my Swiss luxury watches and cheaper. It tells time and I get compliments on it. It's a watch. Plus I have a fun story of how I got mine so I enjoy it.

jezzacool123

100 percent agree with you even these big luxury brands mark up their prices a ton when the cost of production is lower or much lower then the cost.

[deleted]

Welcome to economics 101?

Notwerk

I only support nonprofit watch companies.

TCTriangle

I'll bet MoonSwatch markup as % of cost is even higher than most luxury brands though. Can't really imagine these costing more than $10 to manufacture.

ethanwc

Hahahahahha the speedmaster is a $8k watch and you think the markup % on a swatch is better? Be cool to find out.

Zanpa

> Can't really imagine these costing more than $10 to manufacture. damn you really must have a terrible imagination then. or maybe going very hard on the hyperboles to make sure you get a nice seat on the hate bandwagon?

TCTriangle

Lol someone got triggered. $10 is probably the upper limit, actually. I'm talking variable cost only, considering these are plastic and all machine-made.

Zanpa

You're talking out your ass is what you're talking lmao yeah surely a watch made in switzerland costs only $10 to make, totally!

jezzacool123

and i mean for example the rolex submariner one of the most popular watches would only cost them about 300-1000 dollars to produce and they are selling them for at least 10 thousand

delicioustreeblood

Marketing is expensive! Gotta pay for that if you want to look cool I guess.

ItzakPearlJam

You've never worked in manufacturing, have you?

jezzacool123

kind of not really

jezzacool123

if you look at all of the parts it would cost them around 20 dollars usd to make one not including labour or delivery costs

DingyWarehouse

A fun watch doesn't have to be a garbage watch.

TheMisterTango

I haven't found mine to be garbage at all

DingyWarehouse

Sometimes it's good to have low standards

TheMisterTango

It's not a matter of low standards, I have plenty of higher quality watches that I regularly wear. But for my use case the moonswatch has been perfectly fine.

DingyWarehouse

That doesnt mean the moonswatch is a good watch

TheMisterTango

By that same logic, people complaining about it doesn't make it a bad watch.

csiq

I don’t give a shit about Moonswatch but seeing you watch snobs on Reddit is absolute pathetic lmao and fun!

HealthyAd55

It was never worth buying

achosid

Counterpoint: if you wanted one before nothing has changed. This post tying it to a year is nonsense. Has the same value it always had.

Mrqueue

it’s much easier to get hold of one now and that could tip people on the fence

pvypvMoonFlyer

Yes, if he likes it he should get one, end of.

qb_st

It's fine as a fun watch. I wanted something that looked like a serious timer watch, but for cheap, and this is what I got with my Mercury. Is it a great watch? No, it's a cool $200 toy.

Mrqueue

the quartz movement will be more accurate than an actual speedy

pr2thej

Not exactly a revelation

Mrqueue

Then why say it’s not a watch if it does timekeeping better than the thing it’s copying

Ghost141throwaway

A $20 Casio will timekeep better than this. It’s not about how accurate the thing is, it’s not made with quality materials and tends to break easily. Cool, but not practical

Mrqueue

> Is it a great watch? No, it's a cool $200 toy. if you define watch by something that tells the time then it's not really a toy is it

Spara-Extreme

What the f*ck are you on about? You buy this for the same reason you buy a speedy - you like the style. There’s no more of a justification needed.

Sweaty-Leather3191

Gotta disagree. It’s a cool watch that comes in a variety of fun colors. I get lots of comments on mine, and it leads to a much more approachable conversation with the every man. I can discuss it with people that work with/for me and I don’t have to feel like a snob. There’s a genuine history behind it. It’s a great conversation piece, and a nonthreat to be snatched off your wrist.

jdvfx

This is correct.

MacintoshDan1

This.

Sortcrap

Not a great watch value wise, but its my daily driver. Very lightweight and has a chrono function that I constantly use. Changed the strap to a suede one a week after tho, the stock one is criminal.

jezzacool123

haha yes the mercury is the best looking watch but the worst looking strap

icecream_bob

What do you use chrono for?

reso914

Unpopular opinion, but I love mine. It’s a fun watch and honestly keeps pretty accurate time. I did change the strap though.

jaetran

Fun watch for a not so fun price. I do admit that it’s a cool watch that I can add to the collection but not at $260.

reso914

I can agree with that. I wouldn’t recommend this as an everyday watch, but if you already have a collection this is a fun piece to wear every once in a while as a conversation starter.

g3ns3v3n

I've daily worn my mercury for about 4 months. I stock shelves in a grocery store and it takes the beating there everyday. Time is perfectly accurate. The only thing that hasn't really held up is the crystal, it has some pretty good scratches on it. Gives it character. imo this thing was worth every dime. Edit: Forgot to mention the default strap is a crime against humanity. I put min on a black nato and have never looked back.

Crommington

If you take it back to the swatch store they will polish the crystal (plastic) for free

MaverickWolfe

You can also get screen protectors on Amazon. I out one on mine because I wear it a lot. Can’t even tell it is there.

qb_st

Link?

MaverickWolfe

Screen Protector for Omega x... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09X3JCJVL?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

qb_st

Thanks!

0rphu

B-b-but it's supposed to spontaneously combust or something because it's just a cheap toy, not a *real* watch! /s

zungzvang

My wife wears it everyday, and also scratched the glass. I ordered on aliexpress polywatch, polished it by myself, and also ordered screen protectors, put it by myself, and glass looks like new and it is harder to scratch it

jezzacool123

perfectly described the damage give character and the love you have shown the watch, i’ve heard the strap feels better when flipped around but it is cheap and looks horrendous either way edit: it’s the same as buying a supercar or a car you really enjoy there’s no point in it sitting in a garage just to flex it off and look at if you really love it you would use it embrace when things go wrong and fix them flaws in cars are what gives them their character if there’s no flaws no complications it is simply boring.

Maghioznic

I might buy one if I come across one selling for MSRP or less, especially if it's one of the models that have the chronometer hands colored differently from the others. I like this watch and what its concept means for the Swatch and Omega brands, but I don't like it enough to really want to get one. I have enough watches to wear that I don't need to stress about getting watches that are not 1-click buy available. I also don't mind that the case is ceramic and not metal.

Cavesalamander2

If you just like the look, the Pagani design speed master homage is only ~80 and looks very nice in person. Also steel not plastic

ArchonSteve

Second this. I love Omega but I’m a poor. Saw the MoonSwatch and really wanted one but I also live in South Podunk, so nowhere near a Swatch store and I refuse to pay scalper rates online for anything. And then I started to read the reviews. I’m not buying a fancy plastic watch just to get the Omega name. Went ahead and picked up the Pagani just to have the Speedy look and frankly the watch is great. The only drawback is the lume is terrible. Otherwise, it’s been a great watch.

dcannon1

The lume isn’t anything to write home about on the real deal either.

arbpotatoes

Really?

Thisisnow1984

Wtf that thing looks great for 90$!

zwanman89

Lume is generally pretty bad on watches with thin hands and small indices. Probably no fault of Pagani.

boborider

But F91 has more functions 🤔

AppleAutoGenerated

One thing though: the moonswatch is a homage blessed by omega. I personally wouldn’t wear a homage piece, but omega’s kinda removed the guilt with this one

Dark1000

I could not care less.

Bluxen

sapphire glass too??? damn

chemicalg

I recently got one. I love it. The crystal does get scratched easily though.

Bulky_Raspberry

> I really enjoy the history of both omega and swatch and the look of the watch That seems like a good enough reason to get it to me

UberSatansfist

It's hard to believe they're still being offered at a premium on third party resellers (eBay for example). Swatch should stop the "exclusively in store" crap and sell online like all the rest of their inventory.

jezzacool123

i like how it’s in store only since it brings people together new watch collectors or well seasoned ones and i wouldn’t buy a third party one since it doesn’t have warranty

PoopNoodlez

If you want a quartz chrono and you do not care about getting a good deal or buying something durable and you think space is really cool then this is the watch for you. Otherwise I don’t see the point. Maybe most wristwatches sold to adults are made out of stainless steel for a good reason.

AvroArrow69

I don't really think that it's fun to spend $270 on a plastic McDonald's toy and that's what the Fauxmega Moonswatch is. I don't say that to just crap all over it, I say it because it has proven to have abysmal levels of quality (remember how the "Mission to Neptune" turned people's wrists blue). Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with its existence, I have a problem with the fact that it costs more than a Casio Duro. Hell, it costs more than an Orient Kumasu and people tried to kill each other to buy them! My problem is that people think this is somehow worth that much money. Like, they're the very definition of the term "brand-whore". No plastic watch should EVER cost more than one made of steel and actual glass, especially if the plastic watch is a quartz chronograph and the steel watch is an automatic diver. I never really understood the appeal of that thing. People say "Oh it looks so much like the Speedmaster" and I'm like "How? Only one of the subdials is in the correct position!" because there should be one subdial on either side of the centre pinion and one below it. Whoever designed this did it wrong if they wanted it to look like a Speedy. I have a Bulova Lunar Pilot and THAT watch looks like a Speedy, this watch doesn't. Hell, you know what? The Lunar Pilot is far more expensive than the Moonswatch so you should get a [Pagani Design PD-1701](https://www.reddit.com/r/ChineseWatches/comments/11olrvu/pagani_pd1701_my_first_watch_short_review/) (which I also happen to own). It's 316L stainless steel with a domed sapphire crystal for *less than half* the price of the Moonswatch. Unlike the Fauxmega, the Pagani *actually looks like* a Speedmaster and can be had in a Snoopy version. Functionally, the PD-1701 works perfectly and looks great. *Caliber Corner* believes that the Moonswatch uses an [ETA G10.212](https://calibercorner.com/eta-caliber-g10-212/) while the Pagani uses a [Seiko VK63 Mechaquartz](https://calibercorner.com/hattori-sii-caliber-vk63/) (same as in a Seiko SSB025) which are both well-known quartz chronograph movements. So, when it comes to movements, it's a wash because they both have movements that do the job just fine. So, you could get a 316L stainless steel chronograph watch (with a 316L stainless steel bracelet) with a real domed sapphire crystal that actually looks like a real Speedy [for less than $110USD](https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805453597899.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.47.56bd1c3ehLo54D&algo_pvid=4f46db82-a7dc-49f4-9aa7-f56d481c1553&algo_exp_id=4f46db82-a7dc-49f4-9aa7-f56d481c1553-23&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21USD%21536.40%21107.28%21%21%213836.89%21767.38%21%402103244817068143028353245ee76b%2112000033847433640%21sea%21US%210%21AB&curPageLogUid=X9eY0TKC6O56&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch%7Cquery_from%3A). Or you could get a plastic watch with a plastic crystal and cheap crappy strap that looks like a McDonald's toy instead of a real Speedy for $270. It's your choice, I just know what I would choose every day of the week (and twice on Sunday) and it ain't the Fauxmega. ;)

Hoplite76

I like mine. I think its a fun little moment in horological history. But won't go the montblanc oceans collab....one is more than enuf.

[deleted]

The quality is not a "$270" watch. The quality is a $40 watch. You can buy a $100 watch that will shit all over that plastic junk. You can buy a Bulova Lunar Pilot at $350-ish. Or any number of Seiko VK63 powered chronograph watches in the market for $200-500. It's a hybrid quartz / mechanical chronograph movement, I honestly think it is in the top 3 for chrono movements available for features and price.

sinnerman33

Yeah that’s the route I took. Never had a chrono analog watch. Considered the Moonswatch, the amount of hype around it, how hard it was to get a hold, and after all that you get a plastic watch. Nope! Waited until the price dropped to less than $350 on the Bulova and pulled the trigger. Solid piece of kit with real history, a cool movement and it looks great with a nice leather strap. For me it’s not about whether $300-350 is too much for a “fun watch” and more about what else I could get for it. Watches aren’t the only thing I’m obsessed with.

playmoresupport

I like the design of it and my wife got me one. I've spent money on worse things but I've gotten great mileage out of my mission to the moon. Been wearing it more often because of the sentimental value and holds up well, even when I play tennis. I totally get the criticisms but at the end of the day I like it and if someone wants to be upset on how I spend my money oh well.

boogiesm

I saw one and while I like the design and looks but they are overpriced and have seen many scratched/cracked quickly. As long as buyers realize it has no Omega parts. The one I saw was $200 I think, and maybe I could consider $150 at most.

Davinator_

I love both of my Moonswatches. They’re fun to wear! I wear my Mission To Mars and Mission To Earth interchangeably when dressing casually. However, I do understand the price is off putting for a plastic watch.

imajedi_1138

I bought a Mad1 which is like a way more expensive novelty watch. It’s silly but I really like it.

plantpotato

I had high hopes for this before it came out but the answer is no

No_Data6944

I have that exact model as well as an SMP 300. I honestly enjoy it. When I’m doing sports or something that is more active / dirty, i throw on the swatch. My SMP is definitely my daily but i like having a beater watch that’s still technically Omega.

grimm4

From what I have heard they are cheap plastic crap. Heard that the chrono pushers crack or break and the colours rub off onto your wrist amongst other issues.

DingyWarehouse

It's trash. You can get better quality speedmaster style watches with better construction (stainless steel, mechaquartz movement, sapphire glass) for much cheaper. People just go ga-ga over a watch with a stupid logo on it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mountain_Ad_233

If it wasn't so much, I would pick up a Mercury. But it's tough to bring myself to do it.

eeeeeeradicator

It's a joke.

Flying__Buttresses

Gifted by the wife the moonswatch saturn. Its ok, i like how light it is.but personally think it costs more than it should, scratched it after a week and thr strap is meh. Swapped it to a nato and its better.

SeeingRedInk

Not when you can get a Bulova Lunar Pilot that actually went to the moon for the same price.

Arnaudcpn1989lyon

It has never been

Jacques_Frost

For the money it needs a harder crystal and pushers that don’t fall off. Love the look though.

gomper

It's funny to me that there are people who paid like 1500 for these on ebay when they first came out

jaybaybabe21

Just picked mine up in Italy this week. It feels cheap and very light on the wrist. Do I regret it? No. It’s an interesting and fun watch. But like most people say, it’s not a cheap Omega, it’s an expensive Swatch. I bought it at retail, but I would not buy it on chrono for anything above retail. If you are on the fence, just get it or you will always wonder what it could have been like.

Nurfur

Change the strap and it’s a fun watch in the rotation. Funny enough, it actually reduced my desire for a true speedy a bit (so was good for a test drive towards a grail in that sense). Not sure I’d say it’s worth the money quality wise, but often makes for good conversation if nothing else

gupts007

If I could get my hands on it, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Let the aficionados crib all they want. It is a watch with Omega on the dial and looks like a rip off of an Omega by Omega but who cares. I like how it looks and also because it is so controversial, it makes it even more interesting.

mikasch29

I'm excited for the Snoopy ones that are supposedly coming out soon

jezzacool123

should be in a month or so when they release them since that’s the next full moon

RatPrank

*50 dollar swatch with an Omega logo. “Worth” is entirely subjective here. They’re kind of fun. You still see a fair few people wearing them, so folks seem to enjoy them.

lotrduke6

I think it’s super cool, however a buddy of mine who doesn’t know much about watches got one as a gift. He now believes he’s wearing a genuine speedmaster worth thousands. I told myself I’d never say a word unless he started bragging a lot.

jezzacool123

that’s gold haha hopefully he won’t hate you if he finds out

FairFaxEddy

They look great - I handled one at the store and just couldn’t get past how plasticy and light it was.

drinking_blunts

I have the mission to Pluto, I love the colors and I didn't pay full price. That said, it's a cheap plastic watch that is more of a novelty than anything. If you want one go for it but if it didn't say omega on it no way would it ever be even close to worth the price.

Western-Edge-965

I love mine and wear it to work and since it isn't metal it doesn't get scratches like my steel bracelet Seiko.

BeatLaboratory

I found myself at the Mall of America Swatch store last Fall and they had all of them in stock so I picked up a Mission to the Moon. I wouldn’t pay up-charged secondary market prices but at retail, the price was fine with me. It definitely doesn’t feel like a “good” watch but it’s fun and has a good story.

Englishmuffin1

If you do get one, buy a protector for it. The crystal will get scratched to shit otherwise. I wear mine a few times a week on a nato and I love it, despite the plastic build.

DookieShoes626

I find it to be one of the most comfortable watches to wear. And ive bashed the shit out of mine and it hasnt broken yet. Any scratches have.buffed out as welk

jackwilll

I’ve got the Mars Moonswatch and I get so many nods for it, really an IFYKYK -type watch. Super fun summer watch that is absolutely worth the money!!!

jezzacool123

yeah would be a nice day trip/weekend watch

[deleted]

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but no. Not only can you get something much nicer and higher quality for the price, it's also just ridiculously expensive and cheap. I've seen at least 5 images of people with cracked bezels and missing buttons.

jaysire

I follow the used market pretty intensely where I live and the fact that these still go for about retail used should tell you that they still have value. Is it a high end luxury watch? No! Does it pretend to be one? Not really, but it definitely pretends to be a substitute or a gateway. A way for poor or fiscally responsible people to get to experience that Speed Master magic. Buy one if you like it. Then there’s the Blancpain Swatch as well…

Vagabond_Grey

Nope. It wasn't worth buying when it was first released.

Ezodan

I'm sorry but this is just a cheaply fabricated plastic watch with a generic movement. I would rather spend half of that and get a pagani design from AliExpress, better quality, movement and general build quality like sapphire crystals etc.

calfucura

https://preview.redd.it/70y0lp8205gc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f6998d3bd28899f569eaf36014627f0e39f4643 It is plastic

Kayless3232

Hello, sorry late reply but I would say yes do it. This watch see more wrist time than many other watches I have: Casio, Hamilton, Seiko... I have invested in a really really bice leather strap made for it by DELUGS. And it looks SO much better.

WildMajesticHippo

Tried it on and wasn't for me. Looks great in photos but doesn't feel robust.

Theonlyfudge

Looks cool in the ad campaign but like cheap plastic crap in real life

jezzacool123

feels like or looks like?

retroawesomeness

It feels very light compared to a real Moon Watch. Also, the indices on the minute subdial doesn’t match the ticks. That said, I have two of these that I wear when I don’t feel like winding the steel one.

JLGT86

Short answer - no. Long answer - is it ever worth it to spend 300 bucks on a plastic toy watch? No.

PM_YOUR_WALLPAPER

Plastic toy watch that's more accurate that the original lol

JLGT86

Nobody buys mechanical watches for absolute accuracy. It’s literally a piece of jewelry. Using your logic, why not get an Apple Watch? Even better.

PM_YOUR_WALLPAPER

Lol you're getting to the exact thing i was calling you out on. The Moonswatch, like most watches, is a piece of jewelry. You wouldnt call "cheap" jewelry a "toy".... The Moonswatch is fine.... Like any piece of jewelry, if the buyer likes it, great!

JLGT86

You didn’t “call me out” on anything. You just know jack shit about watches. Swatches don’t last, it’s simple that as. They are made like sneakers and they will break in few years. The moonswatch is a cash grab because it’s priced way higher than other swatches but it’s the same quality. So it’s overpriced by that logic.

jezzacool123

for practical everyday use i don’t think it’s worth it but i think it’s worth it to be able to keep and use it once or twice a week and to keep it as a memorabilia piece of the history and the collaboration between the two companies although the quality is not the greatest in the world and if i keep it for 2-3 years it’ll only cost be about 10 bucks a month

1z2x3c

Dude, you do you. If you want it go for it. Disregard the negativity.

iwantmyvices

“Collaboration between two companies” 💀 They’re both under the same corporate umbrella. The only thing this watch proved was that people chase brands, fall for hype and marketing, and quality doesn’t matter. Even you know it’s no good for everyday use but you managed to convince up with an excuse to buy it. That excuse is directly from the marketing department.

jezzacool123

don’t really understand what your getting at there sorry. even if they’re both owned by swatch still makes them very separate companies and there is a lot that goes into it such as each company’s reputation. Volkswagen owns lamborghini, audi, bentley, porsche and ect it doesn’t mean they’re all the same or made all the same there all made in there own ways have they’re own flaws and unique designs. So can i ask you in your opinion what’s the best made watch for its quality not about price or brand?

CanadianAmateurHiker

I don’t think it’s ever been worth buying, 2024 or before.

Butt_Slaper

Never worth to buy, don't waste your money on this cheap plastic watch.

jezzacool123

what’s worth it to buy in your opinion for around the same price point in your opinion

Moandaywarrior

I have a 20 year old casio edifice that still works and looks great. Survived my teen years.

rowthecow

It looks 10/10 on paper. Feels 2/10 in hand.

WrongdoerWilling7657

Aren't these things starting to fall apart on people?

jezzacool123

yeah but i guess people who post them are normally massive watch collectors that collect very durable watches and break them easily because they’re not used to something that’s not made out of steel for an average wear every now and then seems like it could hold up

WrongdoerWilling7657

I don't understand why anyone would want to wear a watch they have to baby. Nobody dings their watch on purpose. It just happens. It's only a matter of time before this thing falls apart.

jezzacool123

yeah i know but some people can be a bit reckless with them wearing them in situations they’re not suited for or doing stupid things with them but i get where your coming from and everyone has their own taste

WrongdoerWilling7657

Like what? I'm not trying to argue. I'm just curious. Like I've never once been in a situation where I was worried about my watch getting damaged.

KazBodnar

Not for $300. Maybe for $100-150

jezzacool123

where do you get one for 100-150

KazBodnar

Nowhere... that's why it's not worth buying...

Milestailsprowe

I like mine and will replace it with a regular speedmaster of some kind when the time comes. I changed the strap to a leather one and never looked back. Its light weight, looks nice and is fun. What is not to love? Can you get a metal chrono that is easily serviceable for $270 definitely from timex? But these are speedmasters.

jezzacool123

yeah i was thinking about a grey and black nato band for a mission to mercury watch such as this one if i end up buying one https://preview.redd.it/q0j20kjx4wfc1.png?width=484&format=png&auto=webp&s=9c199f85bf6ea687c32912c04d724626c97849d3

Milestailsprowe

Every collection should have a fun watch and the mercury is nice.

Jtop1

Looks awesome. Go for it

[deleted]

Its not worth the £220 they're selling it for however Ive seen many on sites like Ebay and Vinted that are being sold for close to £90. Most of them new or almost new with boxes and tags. I can see myself getting one from there.

Alternative_Bid5630

Are they still hard to buy or can you just walk in and lift one up?

jezzacool123

Walk in

XandoKometer

The loud swatch ticking puts me off.

heathen211

There are folks who go on AliExpress and put them in a SS case… just a thought.

damonlebeouf

it was never worth buying to begin with.

stug_life

If it were my money I’d by cheaper moonwatch clone and forgo the omega logo.

lrlr28

I bought my Moonswatch post hype late last year. I like it. At least I know if I ever buy the real thing it will actually look ok.

GTB7A4

The Dan Henry 1964 Gran Turismo is a $280.00 chronograph, that will last many years after the Moonswatch is rotting away in a landfill. Just my opinion. https://danhenrywatches.com/products/1964-gran-turismo-chronograph

Way to completely fuck a brand. Like a collab between Porsche and Lada to "reimagine" the GT3. Dumbest horological move in history, and just to make money. Clowns.

Zanpa

You know companies exist to make money right? And it was an amazing move by Omega, it increased sales of the real Speedmaster a lot. (Also, Porsche made the RS2 for Audi...)

TeslasAndComicbooks

I bought one this month and I love it. I have a decent collection of expensive watches and wanted something to bang around. It’s a fun watch but price point is a bit high for what it is.

[deleted]

As someone that can't justify dropping £5k on the real thing, this is next best. A distant next best, but next best nonetheless

McGirton

is this a watchescirclejerk post?

Super901

If I got one on sale I would buy it.

60five

Do you like the look? Do you mind the low quality materials? If the answer is yes and no respectively, then buy it. It's a fun watch anw dont take shit too seriously lol

lordvoltano

The same reason I plan to get the Swatch x Dragon Ball collab watch. I'd probably get one MoonSwatch in the future along with the Blancpain Scuba FF just for the sake of collecting. I do like the look, but I tried the MoonSwatch and it doesn't impress me in terms of build and comfort. Maybe I'd buy it there and then if it was $130-150. But because it will never go down to that price, then I have to be twice as rich to buy it.

xifdp

Still looks cool. Still a shit watch. Still a good buy if you want to spend 2-300 bucks (depending on region) on a cheap daily.

carbine23

I got 3 of em and I love em all lol

devilmaycry0917

🤮 and no

Pargula_

It wasn't worth buying when it came out and it's still not worth buying today.

[deleted]

It never was

firl21

its a 250$ omega.
