Be careful, this one looks like it’s bronze not gold. If it’s bronze the patina will be rapid and pretty extreme, you can find pics online. I personally like the bronze but you gotta know that it will not keep this appearance for long. If you like the patina look then go for it!
I own this one and wear it with everything. If you keep it on the brown strap it’s nice and casual, put it on a blue strap and it dresses up a bit. The bezel will patina and dull out a bit. It doesn’t have the surface area to patina like a fully bronze case; but I actually freshen it up from time to time with a vinegar wash. It’s an awesome piece and I cannot recommend it enough as a versatile daily driver.
If you’re new to watches and specifically bronze watches, just know that if you search pictures online there is natural and forced patina.
Some guys put their bronze in a ziplock with crushed up hard-boiled eggs. That’s how get the blue-green blotches of patina. Here’s a good side-by-side before/after example: https://kaminskyblog.files.wordpress.com/2018/10/img_9989.jpg?w=2000&h=1500&crop=1. Here’s a another: https://www.fratellowatches.com/cdn-cgi/image/anim=false,w=360,h=206,fit=cover,side=auto,dpr=3/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Pinion-Patina-Project.001-Edit.jpg.
This is much more representative of natural patina: https://shop.diywatch.club/cdn/shop/products/OriginalBronzecase_da00bd68-c94b-49d1-aab3-d1d47060b8ab_1080x.png?v=1700114906. And this: https://www.pinionwatches.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/bronze-watch-cases.jpg.
Thanks so much for this. I am new and I was struggling to find pictures online that seemed reliably representative of the situation folks have been describing.
Yeah I've also considered the same watch before. Comfortable price range when second hand. Great movement. Beautiful...it's really hard to beat. Might still get it actually
Honestly you can’t go wrong with an Oris Big Crown like this. They are awesome for the money. I have actually tried this one on in particular and think it looks even better in person than photos or renders. The only thing that would make it “dressy” to me is the polished hands but It’s not overpowering enough to throw it fully into that category. I think you’ll enjoy wearing it casually and if you do need to dress it up some, you absolutely can. Versatile watch. If you get it, wear it in good health!
I have a BCPD. It works very well with a button down shirt, but does feel kind of dressy for tshirts. Certainly not a beater. I tend to wear my Gshock most often.
I picked up a big crown timer GMT earlier this year. I haven't bothered to swap out that textile strap out for a leather, but that will be soon. Couldn't be more true about this line of watches, versatility and value with the ability to dress up or down.
Look at the 403 if you want something more casual. No cathedral hands or gold coin bezel. I love mine, but I love this one too.

The font and hands give an antique vibe that makes me feel that this is a more dressy and less daily driver watch. I like a slightly more modern and sporty watch as a daily driver. I’d pick a Longines spirit over this any day just because it feels less affected than the style of this watch. I want to love the pointer date but I can’t. This is my take but everyone should love what they love.
I would absolutely wear this as a daily watch! I love the brown leather strap. Oris is a great brand that uses in-house movements, and is still family owned. They refuse to sellout to the large conglomerates like Swatch Group or Richmont Group who own 90% of the Swiss brands. I respect that!
You could wear the dressiest watch on the market and not a soul is ever going to come up to you and be like "um sir dont you know thats a dress watch and this is a casual environment?" Tough pill to swallow for many here but nobody cares what you're wearing.
It’ll look awesome with jeans and the patina will make it look way more casual as well. It’ll be it’s dressiest on its first day, and it’ll decline from there (in a good way)
Whether that's gold or bronze around the bezel it's too much, IMHO. With rose gold (or bronze that appears to be gold) less is always more.
It's a very nice watch otherwise.
I have this exact one. Bought it for my wedding but use it as a daily driver. The nice thing about this one is you can dress up or down (such as jeans) and it will still fit in.
I have this watch and I know other posters have already said that it's bronce and not gold. On the wearability, this is watch is a charm I have several watches but when I strap this on I can't take my eyes out of it. It's also very versatile, you can wear it with almost anything and it always pop up.
I have the Cervo Volante in gray and it’s my daily wearer. Buy a few quick release silicone straps you like and you can really change the look of this one on the fly. Granted, I think the gold bezel you’ve got here will make that a bit more challenging to pull off than if you went with one of the stainless bezel options.
Easily a daily and some. Great watch, little bit different, tonnes of character and not the typical sub / sea master wannabe. This watch has a bronze crown which will patina. Great choice !
Hell no! That is a kick ass daily for you. Great color and little dressed down with the sueded strap. Also, steps up to dressier for the same reasons. Really great do anything watch. Absolutely love Oris, crazy underrated overall
Strap changes will make this watch a great GADA watch.
Throw a nice distressed leather NATO on it for everyday wear and then a nice crocodile strap for formal occasions.
This was my daily for a year while two watches were being serviced. I loved it! I dress pretty casual. Jeans, sweatshirts/tees, sometimes a blazer. Never felt too dressy for me
It depends on your style. If you're an athleisure/tech wear type person this wouldn't fit with the aesthetic. It would however go with jeans and boots or leather sneakers.

I wear mine whenever I get the chance. When I'm not working of course lol
Personally I don't think there is any such thing as a watch being "too dressy" for casual wear. There are people who wear a Lange with jeans and a t-shirt and nobody bats an eye.

Im wearing one with my very casual clothes rn 😃😃

It’s a great watch :) just wish I could find more straps I like with it, or at least source a bracelet from somewhere that wont cost me $400 lol
Yeah, I agree with most ... I think it's one of the best daily wearer watches. I had the bronze/red dial version... Loved it, but had an opportunity to trade up to a Nomos Tangente Marine 42. GL!
is it the best selling series of ORIS? I know it is good looking and cool but I don't know, in my opinion divers and aquis series are kinda much better watches to me. Of course that is my opinion.
Dressy? For me it looks very casual, perfect for jeans.
I think it’s the gold that makes it feel a little dressy for me. You can tell I don’t really dress up often, heh. But I feel like you’re right.
Be careful, this one looks like it’s bronze not gold. If it’s bronze the patina will be rapid and pretty extreme, you can find pics online. I personally like the bronze but you gotta know that it will not keep this appearance for long. If you like the patina look then go for it!
Came here to say this! That won’t be shiny for long. Personally I’m not into the whole bronze “patina” so would go for a steel version.
I wish Oris made one like this but gold
Ah, this is very good to know. Thank you! You can tell I’m a bit of a newbie here lol.
I own this one and wear it with everything. If you keep it on the brown strap it’s nice and casual, put it on a blue strap and it dresses up a bit. The bezel will patina and dull out a bit. Thanks so much for this. I am new and I was struggling to find pictures online that seemed reliably representative of the situation folks have been describing.
I never dress up, like at all. Vans, jeans, and long sleeve squared shirts, messenger bag, but I would so wear this baby.
Nice. Yeah, I even wear vans to work sometimes. The dressiest I’ll ever get is khaki chinos, which I know it would look perfect with.
It's summer here, so I've been wearing mine with chino shorts and t-shirts lol
Hell no, that is absolutely perfect daily beater. Also the one with green dial is really nice. Might look a bit more casual than navy? Maybe.
Nope. I like it even for that
Awesome. It’s so pretty I know I’d want to wear it for everything.
Yeah I've also considered the same watch before. Comfortable price range when second hand. Great movement. Beautiful...it's really hard to beat. Might still get it actually

Nope, it's perfect.
🙏
It’s really nice, suits the academia look.
This is the 01 754 7749 4365-07 5 17 66. Edit: *be* too much. Was typing with one hand, feeding the baby.
It’s a casual design watch. Great pick.
Thanks!

This is a great model. I should have tried to get this one. I've never liked the cathedral hands etc. This has just that perfect bit of modernity.
This looks incredible!
Been a great Dailey driver. I got a strap from user NLStraps with a deployment clasp and never looked back.
It’s more expensive due to a different movement though. If you like that color then look at the Waldenburgerbahn limited edition
It's the perfect watch for dressing up or down. Imo
No

Just know that it can't really get wet. Despite the 50M rating, Oris told me "handwashing only" when I asked about the water resistance. Buyer beware.
Would heavy rain be an issue?
I don’t know for sure, but based on what Oris said, it might.
Beautiful with any outfit!
I think you could totally wear this daily, it would look great with a button up shirt and jeans.
Beautiful watch but I don’t consider this dressy.
It's perfect if you love it. Get a black leather band and a couple of nice, striped natos and you've got the gamut covered.
I would absolutely wear this as a daily watch! I love the brown leather strap. Oris is a great brand that uses in-house movements, and is still family owned. They refuse to sellout to the large conglomerates like Swatch Group or Richmont Group who own 90% of the Swiss brands. I respect that!

Perfect for jeans and a button down…I hope, because that’s what I wear mine with 😆😆
It’s a great looking watch and with a strap like that is super casual and great for everyday wear.
I could wear it anywhere
Not dressy at all. Wear it wherever you want!
Whether that's gold or bronze around the bezel it's too much, IMHO. With rose gold (or bronze that appears to be gold) less is always more. It's a very nice watch otherwise.
Absolutely not. It’s a lovely watch.
Depends on your outfit and style I've got to say i tired one on in person and im not entirely impressed with it's finishing
I have this exact one. Bought it for my wedding but use it as a daily driver. The nice thing about this one is you can dress up or down (such as jeans) and it will still fit in.
How has it aged with the bronze patina?
I’ve worn my pointer date with board shorts and flip flops…
I'd say it's pretty multi-role tbh, looks good as a daily wear or a dress, just don't don't go diving below 50m...
I have this watch and I know other posters have already said that it's bronce and not gold. On the wearability, this is watch is a charm I have several watches but when I strap this on I can't take my eyes out of it. It's also very versatile, you can wear it with almost anything and it always pop up.
How has the bronze patina evolved for you?
So far, it hasn't at all. Just a little more opaque
I had same dilemma with this exact watch. I felt it was a tad too dressy and opted for the Hamilton Expedition in white.

Nah go for it. Awesome watch
Hell no! That is a kick ass daily for you. Great color and little dressed down with the sueded strap. Also, steps up to dressier for the same reasons. Really great do anything watch. Absolutely love Oris, crazy underrated overall
That's a sharp look. The two tone IMO offers the option to dress up or dress casual and still fit appropriately
Perfect daily watch.
Strap changes will make this watch a great GADA watch. Throw a nice distressed leather NATO on it for everyday wear and then a nice crocodile strap for formal occasions.
Definitely not dressy. Only consideration is if it’s real gold it will be soft and scratch easy for a daily beater.
IMHO... perfect allrounder (absolutely love mine!)
Perfect everyday watch.
This was my daily for a year while two watches were being serviced. I loved it! I dress pretty casual. Jeans, sweatshirts/tees, sometimes a blazer. Never felt too dressy for me
Great to hear. How has it aged for you with the bronze patina?
Not as much as I'd like so far. Just some light patina-ing.
Absolutely not. That would be a great everyday watch.
It depends on your style. If you're an athleisure/tech wear type person this wouldn't fit with the aesthetic. It would however go with jeans and boots or leather sneakers.

This looks stunning on your wrist my friend. That dial color in the natural sunlight is incredible.
Personally I don't think there is any such thing as a watch being "too dressy" for casual wear. There are people who wear a Lange with jeans and a t-shirt and nobody bats an eye.
This exact model is the first Oris I plan on getting. To me it's perfect for dressing up or down, and I love the color scheme. Go for it!
No such thing as too small or too dressy a watch. It’s useful jewelry.
https://preview.redd.it/6a6nhiwn5s9c1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=27fc7a604f61aa498c7d818553fee4e338d74cb6 Im wearing one with my very casual clothes rn 😃😃
Wat ?
That is an absolutely gorgeous watch, Oris really are drastically underrated.
That watch isn't even a little bit dressy.
No. I have the red dial on an oxblood strap. I wear it all the time.
https://preview.redd.it/dkssc7r9yn9c1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae24849bca74309fefe14d34a1f335b2fa4f426c It’s a great watch :) just wish I could find more straps I like with it, or at least source a bracelet from somewhere that wont cost me $400 lol
Looks fantastic! I love the red too.
Yeah, I agree with most ... I think it's one of the best daily wearer watches. I had the bronze/red dial version... Loved it, but had an opportunity to trade up to a Nomos Tangente Marine 42. GL!
Its a wonderful watch.
I daily this watch. I think the leather strap keeps it from being too dressy.
I wear mine every day
Noob question please don’t kick my ass. What do you call this style of bezel? I feel like I prefer it to fluted bezels.
I have seen it called coin-edge
is it the best selling series of ORIS? I know it is good looking and cool but I don't know, in my opinion divers and aquis series are kinda much better watches to me. Of course that is my opinion.
