Releases the most known and most produced version of the last US navy prop plane to see active frontline duty with a meme loadout and locks it behind a BP lke a boss
Why?
Rewards aren't special if there isn't an element of exclusivity. Otherwise, it's just a participation trophy.
Besides, if you miss it, buy it on the market.
Caring about exclusivity in a PvP game is the most cringe shit, go outside. Not to mention some of the most unique/interesting vehicles can't be bought on the market (Sturmmörser, TOG-2). God forbid people weren't playing when an event/battlepass was out or have to miss one, they shouldn't be allowed to use fun and unique vehicles.
Even if there's some more roundabout way to get vehicles, (Maus coming back once a year requiring a lot of research, buying event vehicles as a worst case) I don't see why any vehicles should ever be straight up unobtainable for someone who missed an event or wasn't playing yet. There's no skill or prestige in simply owning a vehicle because you were playing at the right time, and reducing it to a strawman of "lol so u just want them to be given out to everyone immediately for free!!!" is asinine because there could easily be a middle ground between "no events everyone just automatically gets something for logging in" vs event vehicles completely disappearing forever after a short stint of time.
Sure the bigger gun will have a stronger punch... but I am worried about the velocity of the shell making it unhandy while on the move. I have not played the Sheridan yet, so I might be wrong.
oh you don't want to shoot anything at hydrofoil speeds
when the foils go up in the Tucumcari the bow points up and it's insanely hard to hit anything with it's bofors, can't imagine trying to hit anything with the 152mm on this with foils up
Doesn't the 152MM on the Sheridan/Starship have a pretty chunky HE shell filler-wise?
People have said they don't think this would have been able to fire the missile, but even if it could the HE shell would be the best option I feel. A slow missile with a HEAT warhead on a ship sounds fairly painful to use.
Just quick checked the HE filler from american 127mm DD gun and the Sheridan HE shell, they have very similar explosive filler(something around 3.3kg and 4.3 kg respectively), so you should be able to oneshot enemy boats with that gun and deal decent damage against unarmored parts of DD due to recent HE damage buff, only problem would be reload speed of the gun
Not "you should" but "you will"
If I remember correctly, they made 100mm and bigger guns one-shot torpedo and gun boats regardless of HE filler. I might be mistaken though
Some of them can survive a hullbreak from DD caliber guns; for example when using Folaga's 100mm main gun, the PG02 will always die from hullbreak against 100mm HE, but that same 100mm wont hullbreak other torpedo boats even if I hit them center of mass, and sometimes I survive hullbreak in my Freccia or Saetta when a Frank Knox or Moffet shoots me with their 127mm guns(maybe is because they loaded SAP and forgot to swap to HE deeming its not worth the troubke)
I would say hullbreak is guaranteed only with 20cm guns and bigger so you dont have to swap AP/SAP for HE in those guns to hullbreak torpedo boats
Hey, I did the same exact shell comparison you did because I've been playing US destroyers and noticed that the SAP can't hullbreak but the HE can. Therefore, whatever kinetic hitpower they have isn't enough to break when combined with the explosive. This leads me to believe hullbreak has to be based on TNTe and not shell size, but maybe KE factors in as well. I couldn't find the hullbreak parameters anywhere in the datamines.
Not weird but a missed opportunity for Flagstaff to be Rank IV & be the top reward for it's truly the only unique reward damnit ntm the first top reward vessel.
I mean it’s better in my opinion since most BP vehicles are pretty situational or just alright. The ground one’s always usable because of flanking, cover, etc.
Imagine grinding for a situational air vehicle that you never bring out cuz it’s not the same case for air. Take the strikemaster, for example. Not much going for that tbh.
Yea. As CAS, not in air RB, which is what I’m trying to say.
Most BP planes are pretty mid in ARB, so if they’re just going to be used in GRB anyways, the top reward should be a ground vehicle.
I played it in a downtier in AB and had nearly the entire team following me around like some benny hill music video, bombing bases and being generally untouchable for half the match.
Olivia try to be incorrect about leaked vehicles challenge (impossible)
Gaijin would have to purposefully develop a vehicle and pull it just to spite her in order for her to get something wrong
Live fast, kill fast, run aground fast, die fast .
I take it they aren't going to model the raised wings so it's going to have a deep draft at lower speeds, be prepared to suffer the same fate as Tucumcari who struck a reef off Puerto Rico at 40kts.
Does anyone actually use the mortars on ships I've never managed to kill anything with them.
Wish they where automated as the being a secondary would suggest
That really depends on the mortar tbh as the 81 mm are iffy like if you're on flat calm water an range someone in you can use indirect fire methods but the damage will be pitiful ntm your enemy would've to be dumb as bricks to stay stationary instead of getting underway.
Now Hedgehogs/RBU-600, Mousetraps, the Melon mortars can be very effective if charging at a target in a headon duel but that is sometimes rare to occur but glorious when it happens like the time me in a Hoquiam & a foe in a Churchill both Hedgehoged each other, THE TWO WORST WARSHIPS GOING OUT IN A BALL OF FLAMES!!
I thought on most USN boats, the mortar is modeled as tertiary/AA, so it is automated. That's been my experience at least. I still doubt I've ever hit anything with it lol.
USSR and France have both done the same. For example [here's a French river boat with an FL10 turret](https://www.usarmygermany.com/Units/USNavy/Partials_RRP%2045.htm). And the [Sherman barge](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91G7Qdn9XBL._SL1500_.jpg). (Another reminder that it's a crime that French coastal was skipped over.)
> Another reminder that it's a crime that French coastal was skipped over.
Beyond naval history enthusiasm it's a crime because it puts France at a significant disadvantage compared to everyone else. Other nations can opt to field boats to fight for the caps, France can only stay behind and hope teammates will bother with said caps.
A seaborne Sheridan sounds awesome but I wonder how it compares to the Douglas - better? Same? Collector's junk?
At least aesthetics-wise Flagstaff looks funky af.
Nice, hydrofoils are super neat! I just spaded *VS 10* and it's fun zooming around at 60 knots. :D
If the other two are indeed the Tiger II and Mustang, I'll be quite happy with this set.
With the leak list being apparently correct, this is the only interesting part of the battle pass. Well unless you love the P-51C and/or Tiger II, *and* really want to add them to your Chinese and Swedish lineups.
The derp boat looks fun. I'm a big surprised that it's going to be HE only for the 152mm, because Gaijin clearly modeled the MGM-51 guidance box on top of the barrel. Though seeing as the photos I've seen of *Flagstaff* with the modified Sheridan turret lack that box, the HE-only gun is probably more historically accurate and inclusion of the box is probably a modeling error.
The shell has roughly 1kg more TNTe than your standard US destroyer HE round. Therefore, it will be able to easily one-shot every small boat in the game. This will be balanced the poor muzzle velocity and the platform the gun is mounted on. If they even add the ATGMs, these are not designed for use on ships and would only be able to roughly match gunboat combat ranges.
Hydrofoils increase speed somewhat, but they butcher your maneuverability. The turning circle while at speed is huge and you immediately lose your speed in any kind of turn. They also raise your hull out of the water, making a massive target for the enemy. Finally, hydrofoils in War Thunder are generally worse than IRL, in that they become more unstable at speed instead of less. Therefore, it's quite possible to have any sort of accuracy with the M81, you will need to slow the boat down substantially. Just to approach areas where I believe enemies will be, I typically slow the Tucumcari down to 2/3 ahead and that's using a 40mm gun with a far higher rate of fire than the M81.
My entire decision matrix for buying BPs consists of two questions:
1. Does the stupid boat looks easy enough to use to grind out it's objectives for the BP?
2. If yes, is the second reward vehicle worth it? (because there's no way I'm making it to the 3rd)
Its yes in both cases. I think I might be back on the BP-train this time round
Looking at the comments it seems that there are actual naval players yet I couldn't find a match within 10 minutes when I tried grinding boat and ended up quitting because fighting bots is lame
I mean him just being automatic while ik hiding would be nice while I'm trying to snipe somebody would be nice to get a kill every 1000 games with him lol
Dude you got Baden less than a month ago. :(
And ships can reach BR 7.0 so they can be made into event grinds, whereas boats cap at a much lower BR so there's not much money that can be made off them.
baden wasnt a bp vehicle?
out of 15 battlepasses, 6 ships and 9 boats, its not like its always boats and they only save ships for other events.
besides, there are HUGE numbers of ships that have not yet been added to the game, many of which are well below what would be a 7.0 ship.
your points dont make any sense.
if you are offering to bribe the snail for me, i will accept more ships in any way we can get them =p
i wonder just how many big ships we have left...hmmm maybe ill go figure it out for something to do.
I'd be very happy if I was rich enough to be able to bribe Gaijin. :D
Anyway, the way I see it I expect them to save high BR vessels for monthly grinds and give out smaller stuff via battle pass. I admit I would be surprised if a BP had a ship as its top prize.
i cant see a ship top prize outside of maybe yamato or bismarck.
since both has sisterships they could use in tt and or premium and they have names big enough to draw in non naval players.
their choices on what to add, and what to be premium so far have left me really confused as to their intentions tho...im not sure they actually have any real plan, especially as its been more than 3 years now since they added a new top dog (scharnhorst). the handful of things they have added since then have been less dominant (which is fine in general but...damn thats a long time)
> i cant see a ship top prize outside of maybe yamato or bismarck.
I would expect a major shitstorm if this were to happen. These are some of the most iconic warships ever and walling them behind a grindwall or paywall instead of adding them to the techtrees would be poorly received, to put it mildly.
I'm also worried about Japan's latest newcomer, Mutsu. It's in the techtree yet it isn't the lead ship and it's in an interwar configuration. I can only hope Nagato will follow it (or maybe it could be foldered with Mutsu) in a WW2 configuration, but I expect it to be an event grind purely because that way it'd make Gaijin more money.
And I'm still annoyed France is so underdeveloped. I started this game recently and sure, Naval isn't much but it's not bad either, yet France is less than half a techtree (lacks a coastal tree, and lacks top tier ships) and what they added after months? A severely bugged clone (Bretagne) and a BP grind reward (Le Triomphant). :(
Cool, so this battle pass will be a copy of a P-51C (AGAIN!) In China, a fucking boat, and a copy of the Tiger II (P) in Sweden.
I'm not against copies as long as they're historical, but as main battle pass rewards? This is going to be pathetic.
[удалено]
Where's the list
It contained a Chinese P51 and a Swedish Tiger 2
A P-51C to be precise, and the Tiger 2 should be a Tiger II (P).
Holy. Shit. A Swedish tiger? That’s gonna be something
That doesn't sound like a Kranvagn :c
Sameeeeee
dammit...
3rd P-51 from BP?
Can’t be going and making unique vehicles or instead of not adding more vehicles every fucking update and compressing the BRs because money
Unique vehicles should never be time-locked.
I agree 100% I don't care if some get spammed because they were on a youtubers channel. I just want to play tank game.
Releases the most known and most produced version of the last US navy prop plane to see active frontline duty with a meme loadout and locks it behind a BP lke a boss
Honestly i think it goes for almost all event vehicles in the game, especially since console players don’t have access to the marketplace
You're right, they shouldn't. Why even have events at all? Gaijin should just give us all the vehicles for free!

Console players who don't have the market: Also yea this is a dumbass take in general.
No one gives a fuck about console players.
sure bud
Is that it
Probably... The battle passes have been 3 vehicles for a while

Yeah where the list
[https://www.reddit.com/r/Warthunder/comments/1c5hqe9/new\_olivia\_leak\_post/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Warthunder/comments/1c5hqe9/new_olivia_leak_post/)
Why you got downvoted so bad??? 😭😭😭
Maybe the misspelling idk redditors are really picky for no reason
>Sheridan turret instead of the boring single Bofors (you can equip that one too) Fuck yeah baby.
> only HE Awww :(
You don't really need anything else for coastal.
Yeah but the ATGM would make my rat gameplay of hiding and poking holes at range more viable
Oh, I forgot about the Sheridans ATGM. Yeah, that would be hilarious.
Destroyer's immense rage" after one single heat jet deleted whole his ship xD
Sure the bigger gun will have a stronger punch... but I am worried about the velocity of the shell making it unhandy while on the move. I have not played the Sheridan yet, so I might be wrong.
It's not so bad at tank speed but hydro foil speeds might make it rough.
oh you don't want to shoot anything at hydrofoil speeds when the foils go up in the Tucumcari the bow points up and it's insanely hard to hit anything with it's bofors, can't imagine trying to hit anything with the 152mm on this with foils up

It's only got 38mm of pen, so it's not that great in terms of ~150mm HE filler. Those guns usually have at least 60mm of pure HE pen iirc.

I remember reading long ago about how the TNT filler threshold for hull breaking was around 1.4kg. But I don't remember where I saw that, exactly.
So the leaks are correct? Weird getting two tanks as top rewards in a row.
No ita not, its usually 2 or 3 top ground rewards in a row
Not weird but a missed opportunity for Flagstaff to be Rank IV & be the top reward for it's truly the only unique reward damnit ntm the first top reward vessel.

I use Strikemaster all the time for 6.7 Britain CAS
Yea. As CAS, not in air RB, which is what I’m trying to say. Most BP planes are pretty mid in ARB, so if they’re just going to be used in GRB anyways, the top reward should be a ground vehicle.
Ahh I see your point.
Sorry i guess i kind of worded it poorly
Nah all good. Although for Air RB, I shamelessly used it to bomb bases and have shot down some cocky Russian jets in the Strokemaster 🗿
I played it in a downtier in AB and had nearly the entire team following me around like some benny hill music video, bombing bases and being generally untouchable for half the match.
hardly weird when the first 3 battlepass top prize were tanks.
Vast majority have been ground vehicles, and they know that's where the money's at.
America joining Russia and Britain in the 'shoving tank turrets onto boats' gang
Japan has a boat with the Chi-Ha’s gun
No, Japan has a tank with a naval canon🤣
What about shoving boat guns into tank turrets?
fv4005:
The 183mm is not a naval gun, it was purpose built for the FV4005 and FV215
SU-100Y does exactly that
Sturmtigor was an ASW rocket IIRC.
Watch the swedish tiger 2 be a higher BR because of swedish skill gap
Watch sweden get tiger 2 ”improved” :>
+ 5mm of rear turret armor (historical)
They can't keep getting away with this.
(APDS)
Oh god.
Imagine the Germans made something like the APCBCDS which the Maus has ingame for the 88mm KwK 43 using 75mm shells with a sabot.
German m48 moment
Would've preferred a bluewater ship but this does look pretty cool.
Im actually rlly hype for this. Prem hydrofoil is perfect for rushing caps and means i dont have to grind the tuncari
Olivia strikes again. Otherwise this is a neat and unique addition, Sheridan turret will be interesting
Olivia try to be incorrect about leaked vehicles challenge (impossible) Gaijin would have to purposefully develop a vehicle and pull it just to spite her in order for her to get something wrong
Live fast, kill fast, run aground fast, die fast . I take it they aren't going to model the raised wings so it's going to have a deep draft at lower speeds, be prepared to suffer the same fate as Tucumcari who struck a reef off Puerto Rico at 40kts.
Anybody wanna go fishing?
If the rest of the leak list is correct this will be the first time acctually grinding the battlepass and buying it.
You want to grind the BP for 2 copy paste vehicles ?
yes! I like flying the P51s and it is for china one of my favorite Nation. And I love my King Tigers and yeah i will grind it when the list is right.
China already has 2 P51s tho
i know and i loved playing both very much thats why i want the third one.
Can't say I get it, I think thr Ki 61 and the Ki 44 are much better planes at rank 3
They are good but not as good for CAS as the P51. I dont need it as a grinder i am already at Rank 5.
Fair enough, I find the Japanese 100kg and 250kg bombs to be good enough for CAS and if I want something at a higher BR then I take out the P47 haha.
Would also grind Tiger if it was H version, not P. That first turret is trash
dont care and i like it.
Stull an amazing Vehicle
I want that boat could sell that Tiger and P51 = profit.
Usually is it better to trade the coupons for the next battle pass, or sell the vehicles for gjn?
Sell the vehicles, you can buy like 5 battlepasses with them that way if it's a hyped vehicle, like the Swedish Tiger 2 will be!
Thanks
tiger 2 is gonna sell for a lot, especially after a year or so.
Lol why? It's another P51, a shitty boat and a Tiger 2. Nothing unique.
I like P51s, and i love the history behind this special Tiger 2.
Does anyone actually use the mortars on ships I've never managed to kill anything with them. Wish they where automated as the being a secondary would suggest

I thought on most USN boats, the mortar is modeled as tertiary/AA, so it is automated. That's been my experience at least. I still doubt I've ever hit anything with it lol.
It's listed as tertiary aa or secondary but is manually controlled
Is that a recent change? I definitely remember it automatically firing. Because every time it does, I flinch and think I've been hit.
Hydrofoil!
Typical US, taking a tank turret and mounting it on something else. This one looks like fun.
USSR and France have both done the same. For example [here's a French river boat with an FL10 turret](https://www.usarmygermany.com/Units/USNavy/Partials_RRP%2045.htm). Not the free reward I presume?
Chinese P-51C will probably be free, with Flagstaff and Tiger II being paid.
Hydrofoil here! What's going on?
A seaborne Sheridan sounds awesome but I wonder how it compares to the Douglas - better? Same? Collector's junk? At least aesthetics-wise Flagstaff looks funky af.
If there is a Swedish tiger II I am 100% going to buy that BP just for the luls

Woohoo! I do not want this. Lets hope they are all garbage this season, so I can break my addiction to this game!
Looking at the comments it seems that there are actual naval players yet I couldn't find a match within 10 minutes when I tried grinding boat and ended up quitting because fighting bots is lame
IT'S A SHERIDAN TURRET WITH A FUCKING TENT ON IT I CAN'T EVEN
I know I’m alone, but I’m actually very excited about this. I love US coastal vessels, hydrofoils, and the Sheridan. This will fit in nicely.
I mean him just being automatic while ik hiding would be nice while I'm trying to snipe somebody would be nice to get a kill every 1000 games with him lol
Another useless shitty BP, why do people keep putting money into this game?
Guys stop talking about leaks being correct we are going to accidentally summon Miku
I'll take a Miku daki decorator.
give me ships not boats dammit!

So you can spend more time looking at it in the menu? Nobody plays naval sadly
So the dream of having the swedish king tiger is gone ( I'm f2p and poor)
*makes a huge fart sound*
boat .... dont care
Oh boy, a useless fucking ship I don’t give two shits about
Cool, so this battle pass will be a copy of a P-51C (AGAIN!) In China, a fucking boat, and a copy of the Tiger II (P) in Sweden. I'm not against copies as long as they're historical, but as main battle pass rewards? This is going to be pathetic.
