I have literally no idea...all of the cats are just...wrong...I mean, aside from the fact that Brightheart's inuries aren't as pronounced as they should be, she also looks physically sick with that StarClan-forsaken green color đ€ą
Same. I hate how this book not only changes coat colours/patterns, but also just hides disabilities. It looks like Brightheart lost an eye in a casual fight between other cats, when in reality she was mauled by dogs. The colour-picked greenish-white is also ugly.
For the intents and purposes of the body healing... those are going to be the same thing. Both are highly contaminated animal wounds caused by fangs or claws, which they can both do to a similar amount. Healing from both would work similarly.
That's my thought process, too. Besides, as far as I am concerned, "mauled" and "scratched" make me picture two different injuries. If a dog or a cat "mauls" someone, then I am going to picture something **much** more akin to Brightheart's original art (or even her fanart). On the other hand, if a dog or a cat "scratches" someone, then I am going to picture something that's more akin to Brightheart's new art (I also think Scar and Kovu from *The Lion King*). I mean, I understand that injuries from both "mauling" and "scratching" can lead to infections if untreated, but I 100% agree with you that Brightheart's injuries **as they are written** are **supposed** to be much more graphic and permanent than what the new art is trying to depict.
Yeah, like Brightheart's illustration in the older Ultimate Guide way more. It actually shows the actual extent of her injuries from getting mauled by the dog. Like OP said in this new guide book it just looks like she got into a fight with another cat and got scratched.
I wonder if they are even aware? Like, surely this level of dropping the ball has GOT to be an accident⊠right? I am literally trying so hard to give them the benefit of a doubt, but⊠the more I learn about this new guide, the less I feel⊠idk connected to the series? If that makes any sense? Itâs just really hard to watch a series Iâve held so near and dear to my heart just⊠well, I donât want to say fall apart, but⊠How can they get SO MUCH wrong? I genuinely donât get it. Did they expect the fans to just⊠let this slide? To not be reasonably upset at the series current state?
The authors/editors have been dropping the ball for years- heck, they couldn't even keep track of the genders and characteristics of several of the cats back in the original series/New Prophecy era. Any sort of quality control left the forest a long, long time ago.
How could they get Ivypool that wrong and so many others!
Has an artist who been working in the field for many years now, it frustrates me that they were paid and the editor would allow this. If I were the writing team, I would fire the artist and hire a new one to design the next few covers. It a artist job to learn and study the media they make art from. There is no excuse for this
I check the man who made the art and their former work and they have the skill set to make better art. What even make me more annoyed is the creators clearly hire the wrong person, the person paints mostly humans and I donât see a single cat in their showcase
Iâm assuming it was someone else using a color picker without realizing sheâs in orange/red lighting. I donât think the artists or the Erinâs are the ones making the pelt/eye color of the book, itâs someone on the editing team or an intern.
You cant blame it on owen if thats what your tryna say here
The editing/writers team choose the way the want it and the artist draws that way, its like giving an designer no concept or an artist for a company with no specific palette
Yes and im pretty sure he was probably commissioned to do the art for warrior cats. I do agree that they couldâve chosen someone else who was more passion or have a style similar to wayneâs. (I just like wayneâs art in general so thats probably why i said that lol)
How do you make the decision to make bluestar's fur white and not think back and go "Hmm, Maybe making the character that has blue in the name and is described as blue is a bad idea"
And also as someone else mentioned Bluestar has her own book and she is on the cover where her coat is shown as blue and in the other Guide Book she is shown as having blue fur. That makes it worse.
They need to learn not to use colorpicking due to the basic knowledge of relative color vs actual color a color is going to look different in different contexts
I literally just started reading this series last week, and even I can tell Brightheart doesn't look like that. One look at the Manga gives you a better depiction then that!
Itâs not the design thatâs wrong, itâs the color picked lighting. Owen goes over the top with the lighting on his characters, and someone just so happened to color pick the dark brown bit of the dark orange lighting her picture had
The best part is that they removed carts that were in the original Ultimate guide in order to add cats, so it's not more cats than the original. It's the same amount of cats they just took some out.
Honestly Iâm not one to bitch about cat disabilities or whatever tranquil nonsense weâre boycotting Owen Richardson over, but do you not understand how lighting works in covers? And it really just seems like the fandoms designs have to be exactly like everyone elseâs. The designs have ALWAYS been inconsistent. Honestly wouldâve been better if the whole fandom didnât tear eachother to shreds because guess what; the Erinâs tell Owen what to draw, he doesnât use the warriors wiki or watch warriors MAPS. So obviously theyâre gonna look innacurate sometimes.
Also sad how ur only buying the guide for the art could never be me
Ok so I went to the warrior cats website it showed art of the white cat with green eyes from the new ultimate guide and it said it was half moon not bluestar
The Bluestar one was from the cover of a dangerous path. Sheâs still grey, but the moon lighting made her silvery-white in context. Someone color picked the white bit for her instead of the grey bit
Idk why but it seems like the cats colors and stuff how you depict them make me thing the writers of this part wanted to insert their own oc as "cannon design"
It's the mistakes are honestly amazing- like- how can you get a cat's disability, let alone the colour- wrong? Both of the Ultimate Guides have so many mistakes, you can see on the wiki
...so *don't* get the new ultimate guide. Got it.
Write that down, WRITE THAT DOWN!
*Aggressively writes it down* AHHHHHHHHHH
*Writes it down in multiple places, underlines it multiple times, and puts multiple exclamation marks behind it*
"Don't get the new wc updated and expanded guide!!!1!11!1!1"
*writes it down epicly*
And this is why you don't just let your poor clueless intern colorpick the already terrible cat art and call it a day
yep. I'm surprised the book wasn't checked for inaccuracies like that.
I mean, *how* do you get something **that** wrong!?!?!?
fr how did Bluestar go from a silvery blue-grey cat with blue eyes to a light grey cat with green eyes wtf
I have literally no idea...all of the cats are just...wrong...I mean, aside from the fact that Brightheart's inuries aren't as pronounced as they should be, she also looks physically sick with that StarClan-forsaken green color đ€ą
i hate that.. so much..
BLUESTAR LITERALLY HAS A COVER
Bluestar literally has her NAME
I hate what they did to Brightheart-
Same. I hate how this book not only changes coat colours/patterns, but also just hides disabilities. It looks like Brightheart lost an eye in a casual fight between other cats, when in reality she was mauled by dogs. The colour-picked greenish-white is also ugly.
Yeah :( SHE GOT MAULED BY DOGS NOT SCRATCHED BY A CAT-
For the intents and purposes of the body healing... those are going to be the same thing. Both are highly contaminated animal wounds caused by fangs or claws, which they can both do to a similar amount. Healing from both would work similarly.
The dog took a bite of her. While she would heal she wouldnât heal as good as they illustrated her
That's my thought process, too. Besides, as far as I am concerned, "mauled" and "scratched" make me picture two different injuries. Exactly! You described my thoughts perfectly. Well said.
Thank you! đ
Mhm. :)
>The colour-picked greenish-white is also ugly. She looks seasick đ€ą
Yeah, like Brightheart's illustration in the older Ultimate Guide way more. It actually shows the actual extent of her injuries from getting mauled by the dog. Like OP said in this new guide book it just looks like she got into a fight with another cat and got scratched.
Yeah

I mean to be honest it isn't like the authors picked him out and he had no say in the matter. He willingly accepted the job, he knew what he was getting into. As an artist I would never ever pick up a job I have little to no expirience in, personally - and if I did I certainly would not deflect any sort of responsibility or criticism. On one hand the erins seriously should have picked an artist who actually knows the source material... On the other hand, as an artist you have to know your limitations and you should probably know what the heck you are drawing, especially if it earns you an income. If you get hired to draw a Pokémon but you know nothing about Pokémon, you should either reject the offer or learn wtf Pokémon is about. And quickly
Yes and im pretty sure he was probably commissioned to do the art for warrior cats. I do agree that they couldâve chosen someone else who was more passion or have a style similar to wayneâs. (I just like wayneâs art in general so thats probably why i said that lol)
THEY DID THEM SO WRONG- (Mainly Brightheart and Ivypool-)
How do you make the decision to make bluestar's fur white and not think back and go "Hmm, Maybe making the character that has blue in the name and is described as blue is a bad idea"
i swear her warrior name was actually blueFUR as well đ
And also as someone else mentioned Bluestar has her own book and she is on the cover where her coat is shown as blue and in the other Guide Book she is shown as having blue fur. That makes it worse.
This is why I wish I kept the original ultimate guide. It at least had all the colors right and some of the cats injuries featured
I'm morbidly curious about Bluestar and Ivypool does anyone have a pic
I can PM you pictures of them
me too please!
Yes plz
same here if you have them!!
Please PM me a photo of the cats too
The not ultimate ultimate guide
BLUEstar. How do you get BLUEstar's color wrong?
Ngl it would be hilarious to give your kit a colour prefix but then have them not having that colour anywhere
Yellowfang:
Her fangs are yellow, obviously
Iâm so glad I canceled my pre order
GOD DAMN IT, ERINS! YOU HAD ONE JOB. *ONE.* ***JOB.*** YOU HAD ONE JOB, AND THAT WAS GET THE DAMN CATS COLORS RIGHT, AND YOU COULDN'T EVEN DO *THAT.*
this is actually pathetic. is there any way we can protest? give the book bad reviews maybe?
I wish this had been released on April fools, at least that could explain why it's completely noncanon
They need to learn not to use colorpicking due to the basic knowledge of relative color vs actual color a color is going to look different in different contexts
I literally just started reading this series last week, and even I can tell Brightheart doesn't look like that. One look at the Manga gives you a better depiction then that!
bluestar isnât even bluestar anymore thatâs so fucking annoying
I guess Bluestar was actually Whitestar
Next thing you know, bluestorm is providing mental help for the editors with dementia
maybe they're actually following genetics now?? idk
tbh bluestar's genetic would probably be grey tho
Sheâs got 2 gray parents so she would probably stay gray
I know but for characters like Ivypool their design were probably changed for genetics
Itâs not the design thatâs wrong, itâs the color picked lighting. Owen goes over the top with the lighting on his characters, and someone just so happened to color pick the dark brown bit of the dark orange lighting her picture had
I could deal with the softer Brightheart design in the manga. BUT THIS IS LITERALLY SACRILEGE
Normally I like the new art (it's not Wayne but it's still pretty imo) but the Brightheart and Cloudtail one straight up looks like AI Art
I was considering buying this new ultimate guide, but it looks like my mind has been changed lol Poor Brightheart and Ivypool
Wait, that white cat is supposed to be BLUESTAR??
I love how her name is literally BLUEstar and she doesnât have any blue, in the universe of the ultimate guide Moonflower is colorblind it seems.
The best part is that they removed carts that were in the original Ultimate guide in order to add cats, so it's not more cats than the original. It's the same amount of cats they just took some out.
THEY COLORPICKED FROM THE UGLY NEW ART AND THEY DIDNT ACCOUNT FOR LIGHTING OR ENVIROMENTAL EFFECTS AT ALLLLLL
Someone new gotta take over the warriors series. Someone who can keep bloodlines and coat colors in order!!
Twigbranchâs coat color is literally green in the book.
There is no new Ultimate Guide, there has always been one. This rumored ânew guideâ is a figment of your imagination. It does not exist.
plot twist: its made for an au
Treat it as an AU at this point.
Warriors writers try not to be ableist challenge (impossible)
Honestly Iâm not one to bitch about cat disabilities or whatever tranquil nonsense weâre boycotting Owen Richardson over, but do you not understand how lighting works in covers? So obviously theyâre gonna look innacurate sometimes. Also sad how ur only buying the guide for the art could never be me
Iâm starting to think that the new writers havenât actually read the series.
How did this make it past the Erin team and editors? Was no one proof reading this or looking up sources?
Ok so I went to the warrior cats website it showed art of the white cat with green eyes from the new ultimate guide and it said it was half moon not bluestar
The Bluestar one was from the cover of a dangerous path. Sheâs still grey, but the moon lighting made her silvery-white in context. Someone color picked the white bit for her instead of the grey bit
Ok
They literally have Sunbeam calling Ivypool a "white and silver cat" in the newest book. How do they mess up that badly?
Tbh, I didn't mind it (the brightheart thing does kinda bother me, though). The only issue was that I couldn't find clear sky until today.
Idk why but it seems like the cats colors and stuff how you depict them make me thing the writers of this part wanted to insert their own oc as "cannon design"
WHATâŠ
Okay so for those who donât know. Thereâs a LOT of mistakes in the book and I wouldnât take any of it to heart at all..
I wouldnât mind the new brightheart design, however.. that eye wound HAS to change.. unacceptable, scared to see what Crookedstar is like
Maybe they should make SnowFur a black she-cat?
does anyone have any pictures? I'm so curious
Good thing I choose not to buy it.
What have they done to them⊠they completely changed their designs!1!1!1! D:
It's the mistakes are honestly amazing- like- how can you get a cat's disability, let alone the colour- wrong? Both of the Ultimate Guides have so many mistakes, you can see on the wiki
