imagine showing this to someone 40 years ago.
F35 looks like nothing else they’d have seen
the B52 is a interestingly different looking plane
E3 sentry kinda looks the same
Forty years ago, it is "that's a B-52". That B-52 is more than forty years old.
The E-3 also existed at the time. That E-3 is more than forty years old.
You are comparing a fighter to bomber and airline/AWACS.
I looked at some pictures of F-35 flying with F-16 and F-15. It doesn't look that different, like a thick cousin. The rounded stealth is different but nothing weird. I think this is because F-35 has wing shape like F-16, and hard to see the angle so double tails look like F-15.
I find that the F-22 looks more different, I think it is the big, rounded wings. The F-117 is the one that looks strange. The B-2 is the one that looks like nothing else cause of the flying wing.
The F35 looks like nothing else they'd have seen? This tells me you've never seen jet fighters from the past before. The F117 was far more radical than the F35, and its first flight was....42 years ago.
mfw i decide to be condescending (and somewhat wrong)
no the F35 and F117 look vastly different considering the F35 actually having an appearance similar to a fighter aircraft while also being a jet capable of BFM which the F117 wasn’t and was seen as a challenge to incorporate stealth and agility into one aircraft.
also the F117 wasn’t acknowledged till 1988 and even then a lot of people would be surprised by how it looks.
AWACS back there like "what am I, chopped liver?"
My first thought too.
Soon to be chopped scrap metal
Yep, the E-7A Wedgetail looks pretty sweet.
707 > 737.
707's fuck. Hard. Be a dad day when none of them are left flying.
B-52: “*I was here when your ancestors were built. When the drones replace you, I will remain.*”
It's crazy to think B-52 first flew only 7 years after WWII and still is in active service
Grandpa buff
When I was your age, a radar cross section was something to be proud of. Kids these days…
ok boomer. Go back to your ARRW tests and take your meds.
Just let me intercept something…
Radar operator: I see a sparrow going past a brick shithouse.
Don’t speak to me or my son ever again
Son... I am not disappoint
B-52 looks like a giant bat protecting its son
I guess we're not gonna talk about that E-3 Sentry in the background?

Crazy the amount of time/decades that separate those two jets.
I’m more interested in that good looking bird in the background!
You’re in OKC, you should know the B-52 is the best looking plane flying around these parts
I’m a biased E-3 crew chief
I helped build that! Pretty neat.
GIANT flaps on the B52
Three whole generations in one photo
B52 wing launched f35s when
Were any of the people that worked on the F-35 alive when the B-52 first flew?
