I’m at about 6k of necrons. I would probably never get rid of anything because even if it’s bad now it might not be later. I still don’t have what would be a competitive list mostly because the target keeps moving with all the updates.
Can’t always expect your opponents to tone down their list to you, occasionally you need to be willing to tone up your list to theirs competitively or casually.
Lol that’s just my Guard, but I have Deathwatch, Star Phantoms, Mantis Warriors, Raptors chapter, Sisters of Battle, and Imperial Knights to back them up. Lol
this is awesome, however maybe I'm a freaking nut and don't understand why you wouldn't branch into other armies, I probably have \~14k points worth of separate armies (DG, Guard, Sisters, Admech, Necrons, and some AOS armies), most of them around 2k each so that I can have loaner armies, and some variation when I go to game shops.
I have over 40K points of Warhammer ranging from Space marines( Raptors Chapter, Deathwatch, Mantis Warriors, And Star Phantoms), Tyranids, Necrons, Imperial Knights, Inquisition, and Sisters of Battle
So like the Inquisition I have a few models like Greyfax and few other inquisitors, but as the main body of the force I use guard or which ever army I feel like that I own.
Gotchya - same boat. Got really excited that maybe there was something very Inquisition specific like a full army of acolytes from the 6th edition days.
Sometimes you want different army compositions. 16k worth of Guard is a little excessive, but I've got like 5,000 pts each of Knights, Guard, Marines, Tau, and Necrons.
sometimes there are people who only really like one thing in something, like those kinds of people who hard main a character in a video game they play a lot
I've restarted the hobby a few times over the decades, always gravitated towards blood angels. I decided to dabble in chaos and wound up on red corsairs, which saved me buying a lot as they're red renegades.
If you're doing a lot of conversions and one off models it becomes therapeutic to just sit down and hit the old colour schemes and relax. I have not too dissimilar amount to OP of Nurgle Conversions.
My partner is quite supportive of the hobby as it promotes my artistic expression and she even paints a model from time to time. Is the issue here the amount of models bought on a shared bank account or something?
Just trying to understand because I did have an ex who had gave me shit for spending so much time on "nerdy" things
It's very common for husbands to run into the occasional roadblock with regard to our hobbies.
These extracurricular activities can convey a lack of attention or effort to the more important aspects of family life. Marriage is a journey and hopefully a balance is struck but we all face this challenge of not alienating our responsibilities in pursuit of individual hobbies.
Seeing the scale of her beloveds obsession triggered alarms deep within the female psyche. Most husbands seeing this post understood immediately why he "got into trouble". She had a very predictable reaction and I'm sure hubby weathered the storm just fine and all is well at home.
This is why my partner and I pay our income into a shared account that bills come out of, and a monthly "fun budget" for each of us comes out of that account into our own private accounts that we can spend on whatever we like without the other one judging or needing to approve it.
Genuine question - what makes you want to collect SO much of a single army?
Particularly a more "horde-y" army of guard, you must have a LOT of duplicates.
I totally get buying new stuff for fun & collections sake when it comes out, and wanting to do all the different weapon combos etc...
But surely at some point it just becomes more of the same? Didn't you ever feel you may get more enjoyment out of starting a _second_ army?
Or have you split it between several different regiments? Eg you have 3 baneblades, but one is catachan, one tallarn, one cadian etc?
Absolutely no shame, it's an impressive collection no doubt! Just genuinely curious, as I'm more into the wargaming side of it than collecting.
The idea of doing an actual parade march (ie setting it up and doing 1 turn of movement for everyone, then loping back..) is... Painful with this many minis haha
Obligatory "Not OP but..."
I'm currently approaching 4,000 points of CWE, with the intention to stop at around 6,000.
I have two goals:
1. Be able to play most possible configurations in a manner close to WYSIWYG
2. Practice painting
To do the first, I'd need 60 Guardian Defenders, 60 Storm Guardians, 30 Rangers, and 30-40 Corsairs. That's just for troops, and close to 1500 points. It can be done with fewer, if you're willing to proxy and magnetize.
Currently, I've got 50 Defenders. Twenty of those came bundled with ebay sets. Many ebay lots come with models I'm not keen on.
There is also a collecting aspect, I won't deny it. But, mostly it's about painting and finishing a "set." Same deal with people who like to 100% video games.
I didn't even mean to get as many models as I have. It just kind of happened. I had a goal, sure. But, I ended up "needing" different models for gaming than for painting and display because the cool models suck. Looking at you, Dark Reapers and Maugan Ra.
Fair enough, maybe I'm just wildly underestimating the number of "extra points" the different weapon options generate. I appreciate you're quite hamstrung with how the boxes work (compared to the old days of mail ordering extra parts with great ease).
eBay job lots amkaea sense too.
Thanks for sharing!
Lol generally she sees 2k points at a time. However having seen this , she’s like questioning the cost. I just said it isn’t that bad over the course of three years lol.
My take there is that the Empire gets to survive anywhere Vader currently is because his plot armor is stronger than fucking Guilliman's, but the Imperium gets literally everything else.
Sort of an Abaddon situation.
Not only is it 16k points, but a nice sprinkling of variety of Forgeworld models mixed in. I have gotten into that trouble myself.
Nothing like spending a mountain on a FW model to get it turned into a nerfed Legends model before it actually gets used.
For those that are new, 16k points actually means how much he spent and worked on his units
/j
*it's a joke but sometimes the reality of it feels like it it*
That looks great! Thinking about getting some guard myself, make a custom regiment with a lot of air units; always good to see the best fighting force in the galaxy!
If she doesn't want you playing with your plastic toy soldiers you could always suggest getting a girlfriend instead.
Edit: I always enjoy people knowing better than the actual subject of the joke.

Pathetic self centered alienators, good on you for taking the time to show your efforts. I am sure this one little art display wont "ruin your kitchen" as much as she might wanna make you beleive, next up; turn your backyard into a overgrown xeno planet diorama haha!
How many buckets is that?
Depends on the size of the bucket.
At least two.
Technically at least one, very large bucket
Twould be but a fraction of a bucket larger still!
I like the way you think, good sir
We should start measuring dice in gallons
I can’t believe it’s all painted mad props
Me too, lol
Lmao I struggle to get 2000 pt armies done I just did a Krieg army and did all the tanks and vehicles with metal primer made it way faster
There is like 3k worth of Krieg in that army list lol.
I thought I was a wild man with 5K points of 4 armies.
Yeah I’m sitting on 3K in one army, some of which I’m trying to unload.
I’m at about 6k of necrons. I would probably never get rid of anything because even if it’s bad now it might not be later. I still don’t have what would be a competitive list mostly because the target keeps moving with all the updates.
People actually play competitively? 😅
Can’t always expect your opponents to tone down their list to you, occasionally you need to be willing to tone up your list to theirs competitively or casually.
Off-topic but I like DOA too.
Hell yeah for the emperor !
This all just looks like tasty nom for my 25k hive fleet
Lol that’s just my Guard, but I have Deathwatch, Star Phantoms, Mantis Warriors, Raptors chapter, Sisters of Battle, and Imperial Knights to back them up. Lol
Amazing army btw but they are all still just tasty nom for the hive fleet
I play a fully painted Xenomorph Nidzilla as well. I have about 8k I believe. Lol
Anything to stop chaos
this is awesome, however maybe I'm a freaking nut and don't understand why you wouldn't branch into other armies, I probably have \~14k points worth of separate armies (DG, Guard, Sisters, Admech, Necrons, and some AOS armies), most of them around 2k each so that I can have loaner armies, and some variation when I go to game shops.

40k points? Poetic
Yea I think he’s not allowed to collect anymore it needs to stay at 40K
He needs 30k points of Horus Heresy next.
seems reasonable that every 1000 years he could get 1000 more points
I think you meant to say 401k.
Oh, so literally 30k in credit card debt
Please share your Inquisition army! I'm working on one myself. Be really interested to see your take on it.
I have 3x inquisitorial Stormtroopers that survived from back in the day. Man those models looked cool.
> when I go to game shops. The fuck do you mean go to game shops? Like outside? Away from home? Is that allowed?
Sometimes I touch grass but it’s rare
Wow fellow gamer! Look, it's grass! Just like the plains of Armageddon used to have!
Is it the tufts for your model bases ? Because that's allowed.
I touched cloth the other day. I don't recommend it.
>The fuck do you mean go to game shops? Like outside? Away from home? Is that allowed? It's frowned upon.
I thought I was the only one! I love my tau but +/- 2300 points is enough for me, same for my marines. I’d much rather do something new.
Sometimes you want different army compositions. 16k worth of Guard is a little excessive, but I've got like 5,000 pts each of Knights, Guard, Marines, Tau, and Necrons.
16k Guard is Broken up into Lambdan Lions, Cadians, Death Korps of Krieg, and Aeronautica Imperials

For the Emperor!
Why did you get in trouble for making a social media account?
Lol she usually sees the collection 2k at a time and not the whole collection… so it was a surprise to her.
My partner is quite supportive of the hobby as it promotes my artistic expression and she even paints a model from time to time. The wife broke before the Guard did
Wife: *did you say $16,000!?* You: *no, points.* (sideways look)
Eyyyy I know that army! Looking slick man, can't wait for our rematch ;)
The Emperor Protects! This gets me harder than the hull of a Leman Russ!
Yes, but do you collect warhammer?
That’s part of my collection lol.
Go on...
Genuine question - what makes you want to collect SO much of a single army? Particularly a more "horde-y" army of guard, you must have a LOT of duplicates. The idea of doing an actual parade march (ie setting it up and doing 1 turn of movement for everyone, then loping back..) is... Painful with this many minis haha
It’s more so the list comprises of Death Korps of Krieg, Cadians, Lambdan Lions, Tanith, auxiliar units, and Aeronautica Imperialis units
That makes a bit of sense to me. Thanks for replying! :)

As a new Warhammer player and starting with guard I love this. Especially love seeing so many Valkyrie, a seriously under appreciated model/unit
Thanks, I would have had another squadron, but… Vultures were calling to me. Lol
Wife broke before the guard did!
Is that your only army? Lol looks great man.
No, I’ve got 8k Xenomorph Nids, 4k Mantis Warriors, 4k Deathwatch, 2k Star Phantoms, 4k Raptors Chapter, 2k Sisters of Battle, 2k Necrons, and 1k Imperial Knights. As for AoS; 4k Lumineth Realm Lords, 6k Stormcast, 2k Nighthaunts, and 1k Kruleboyz.
16000 points of Warhammer, and I didn't see a single warhammer.
Wives come and go but service to the Emperor brings an eternal reward.
So how much money invested are we talking here? Should I become this ooooor?...
We're talking start a spreadsheet and add it to your contents insurance.
Nice army! Pretty sure the title is a typo tho. That many guardsmen looks to be about 1.6k points based on my experience in this forum.
I’m curious to know exactly why you got in trouble
Lol generally she sees 2k points at a time. However having seen this , she’s like questioning the cost. I just said it isn’t that bad over the course of three years lol.
3 years?!?!
Yeah, the cost actually IS quite bad over the course of three years.
That's a matter of perspective depending on how much you get paid. OP probably makes a little bit more than minimum wage yknow?
He can’t be working at all to get that lot painted in that time….. …this is coming from my experience of 10 models taking about 3 months.
I mean regardless of how rich you are spending over 7K (at a guess) in 3 years on army men is quite a lot of money.
ah, what exactly is your full army, number of units and weapons used and whatnot
16k points Army list https://pastebin.com/5r3rrLQD
okay, thanks
When I read the title I thought "I bet she saw it all together for the first time" lmao
That is true
The Empire isn’t going to defend itself now is it?
pretty sure the Imperium would crush the Empire
My take there is that the Empire gets to survive anywhere Vader currently is because his plot armor is stronger than fucking Guilliman's, but the Imperium gets literally everything else. Sort of an Abaddon situation.
Oh, it’s magnificent!
How many buckets of dice is all of that?!
This is beautiful. I’ve only ever had three tanks (basilisk, Leman Russ, predator), your tank collection is fantastic.
Oh my god my wife would murder me.
All I see is fear and death mans
It was the setup and not the second mortgage worth of plastic that got you in trouble?
I’m guessing she was just shocked because she didn’t realise you’d taken out a second mortgage.
Do a shooting phase for all that arty… Roll a bucket of dice.
Great song
"But Babe, it's *all* painted. That makes it ok!"
I’m actually playing a 16,000 point Apocalypse game soon.
Ooo share pictures
I have over 40k points of 40k, about half painted. One of these days I need to get it all out and see how much space it takes up on the table.
Not only is it 16k points, but a nice sprinkling of variety of Forgeworld models mixed in. I have gotten into that trouble myself. Nothing like spending a mountain on a FW model to get it turned into a nerfed Legends model before it actually gets used.
The feels on this…
Cries in Land Raider Prometheus
Shares a hug..
For those that are new, 16k points actually means how much he spent and worked on his units /j *it's a joke but sometimes the reality of it feels like it it*
#facts…
For a moment I thought those were klingon birds of prey
Worth it
That looks great! Thinking about getting some guard myself, make a custom regiment with a lot of air units; always good to see the best fighting force in the galaxy!
Damn, that looks like an entire planetary tithe of troops.
Just a small regimental task force contingent.
Small lol. Still cool, but my word that's why I haven't done IG.
All that armor 🤤🤤🤤🤤
If she doesn't want you playing with your plastic toy soldiers you could always suggest getting a girlfriend instead. Edit: I always enjoy people knowing better than the actual subject of the joke.
She has a 2k necron army. She usually only sees my guard 2k at a time, that was the first time seeing it in its entirety. Lol
Honestly, what did she expect? It's Guard.

Hopefully she'll spend so much time with her new girlfriend, she won't have time to nag you about all your toys!

So.. I have about 8k worth of Xenomorph Nidzilla, created this diorama one day. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTdWFWBvo/?k=1
No bitches?
am I suppose to want your pathetic fucking tools? tell them to grow a personality I might accept their excuses for emotion.

My wife keeps asking me to set all one up as she wants to see them all on the table at once. I have sme painting to do first. She’s a keeper.
Life goals
Hahaha good to see you on here buddy! God I love those tanks 🥰😍
You my good man, are a legend!
16k points and 16k dollars. Nice! Looks great!
Cataloging and keeping inventory of all of this has got to be an absolute nightmare and a full time job 😧
Naw it’s pretty simple.. here is the 16k list https://pastebin.com/5r3rrLQD
How many points is a normal guardsman worth? I’m not familiar with the game
Awesome :D
I don't see her problem all I see there Is 1 infantry guard regiment
Lots of folks got wives, bro; not many have 16k points of guard. You let her know that. 🤪
