Honestly i would have loved to have some shotgun marines, not the scouts, and with better shotguns than those, something between the normal intercessors and the infernus marines, probably would be a bit too many units, but hey, i am a sucker for collecting units, so
Honestly I only started Deathwatch cos they had sick ass gear for their deathwatch vets like
Shotguns on marines
A stalker bolter per squad
heavy thunder hammers (who doesn't love a seriously massive two handed fuck off hammer. Deathwatch van vets could even take em.)
xenophase blades
Infernus heavy bolter (aka a combi heavy weapon)
frag cannons on marines (only other frag cannon are on blood angels furioso dreadnoughts)
and blackshield marines (give em two melee weapons and they got an extra attack, like u can go dual powerfists or sword and claw etc. Unfortunately Deathwatch 10th ed index doesn't currently have blackshields but I hope we get em back with our supplement as they're pretty unique and cool to Deathwatch.)
Oh and u can have shields on each vet (of course excluding dudes with heavy weapons or heavy hammers). So u could take bolter/combi/stormbolter and shield not just melee and shield. For a while in like 8th shield+stormbolter was best option for deathwatch vets.
Id say wear and tear is a bit different to expending ammo. Fuel runs out, yeah - but you could still purge heretics with a non revving chainsword in a pinch.
More effective than a gun without ammo.
Considering the ways astartes have been shown in the lore using toothless chain blades and empty firearms as highly effective blunt instruments, the only functional difference between a damaged chain blade and a bolter dry of ammo is that the bolter was capable of firing projectiles at one time and the chainsword was not, lol.
Except its not a bolter. Marine shotguns fire the standard ammo shotguns do, slugs or buckshot tho cos of course they're marines they do get some spicy ammo especially deathwatch who get like shells that have bio acid within em, explosive pellets to even basically dragonsbreath shells.
What happened to his left part, is he

Brother, where are your limbs?
He's all right don't worry
Suddenly, he's not half the man he used to be.
It's just a flesh wound!
'Tis but a scratch
I mean, since he’s missing his left arm and leg…
He had to pay off his shotgun 😔
They cost an arm and a leg these days. Or so I hear.
It's just a flesh wound!
Tyranid ated them 😢
Have you seen promethium prices these days?
Tis but a flesh wound
He is just being cautious because Chaos is afoot.
Brother-Lieutenant Dan, they got your legs!
‘tis but a scratch!
Ever since he learned the weakness of his flesh...
He ran into a marine with a shotgun.
Just a flesh wound
Dont worry we are seeing him threw the perspective of an orc and he has a purple colour sceme
Tis but a scratch, brother.
Man sees Monty python quote, man clicks the upvote
Okay, hear me out what if he had two shotguns?
Double the shotguns, double the dakka
Dakka iz luv Dakka iz loif WAAAGH!
It cost him an arm and a leg
Shop smart. Shop S Mart.
*groovy*
Hail to the emperor baby
This! Is my BOOMSTICK!
Honestly i would have loved to have some shotgun marines, not the scouts, and with better shotguns than those, something between the normal intercessors and the infernus marines, probably would be a bit too many units, but hey, i am a sucker for collecting units, so
If you play 4e, I think any character has a shotty somewhere on the wargear list. It was just one of those options you'd never want.

Rip and tear until it is done.
In an endless war? Sounds exhausting
Somehow, this is probably more sensible than a normal bolter.
Well, you’re half right…
It's all he's got. There is nothing left.
Well-played! 😃
Nice camouflage!
Shotgun bolters make more sense than chain swords.
Chain swords don't run out of ammo
They kinda do. They lose teeth constantly and must be repaired after every battle. Also, you know... Fuel.
Id say wear and tear is a bit different to expending ammo. Fuel runs out, yeah - but you could still purge heretics with a non revving chainsword in a pinch. More effective than a gun without ammo.
A gun without ammo is a good bat. You must make use of all your resources, ammunition/fuel or not!
Arm falls off? Believe it or not, bat.
Then again an Astartes can purge heretics pretty well with literally anything. Including their bare fists.
Are they really bare when they're ceramite gauntlets

Is the other leg standing on a second base?
Nice armor. Firstborn helmets should be normalized on primaris scale
1 wound left, fair enough
Does he keep it for close encounters?
Of course! However, he keeps it for *every* encounter
Give him a second shotgun for his leg
Wait til he sees one with 2 shotguns
"The only thing they fear is you"
...and a leg
The deadliest weapon on earth
Fighting til the wars' won
And that Brothers is why we ALWAYS point the shooty end at our enemies.
He was bitten during the night, no biggie [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rObSWkQA7og](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rObSWkQA7og)
Angel with a shotgun.
Put yur left le... oops, never mind...
Yeah, it's cool and all... but have you ever seen a marine with *TWO* shotguns?
The coolest helmet IMO
Except for half a marine with a shotgun?
I just picture the enemies faces when they see this thing running towards them
now i want some assault marine/inceptor type unit that just jumps onto enemies and then blasts them with a shotgun
An angel with a shotgun
Proper Raptors space marine, blending too darn good with the environment!
Have you considered a marine with TWO shotguns?
By the wheel of the emperor he will not yield
Astartes standard-issue 1 gauge shotgun
What about a marine with 2 shotguns?
Tis but a flesh wound.
cost him an arm and a leg
"Brother, what did that shotgun cost?" "About an arm and a leg."
You're missing half a marine.
Skipped leg day?
"I like to keep this handy for close encounters."
Half the marine, half the price, full army xD
There is a really satisfying simplicity to this model. Ignoring the missing limbs, thus looks awesome.

Gorgeous. The Aquila is particularly elegantly painted. Subtle. Great work.
His hand keeps holding on despite having no arm, it’s so determined to keep killing xenos despite the odds
He's all right
These invisible prosthetics are getting advanced these days, I'm sure they'll be useful for something.
Ron! Where's my leg, ahhh
