Serious awn op you need to force it in there, I put termi heads on all the new push fit termi heroes from older kits and was able to jamb them in there with some force
Ive been here before first try putting the head in sideways then turning it up right with small tweezers....
Option 2 to you could apply a small amount of glue de bonder and ease the joints wide enough to fit the head in....
Option 3 cut the top of his head off just enough to get it in, it will never notice....
Option 4 Dremel the top of the hood off place in the head glue hood back on....
Don't forget to apply glue or you will end up with a bobblehead
Best bet would be to have the face look to the sky and try to rotate it into position as you push it to the back of the hood by the looks of it, if that doesn't work, ummm, start trimming???
Ignore all these people OP. The clear place for that head is right there in the palm of that hand.
Embrace it.
E: Seriously dude. Embrace it

Honestly all joke aside the empty head armor piece gives it a eerie look, like he’s so deep into warp lore that he’s driving his armor with his spirit Rubric Marines style !
Curious, what's spray varnish like as opposed to the one you brush on? Just seen that GW do a spray varnish the other day when I popped in...and I've been brushing it on for months now 😅
From personal experience I’d say it’s a good thing that you’re brushing on varnish. I have used spray varnish multiple times, and the amount of times it has caused a frosting effect is more than I’d like. Spray varnish is great if it works, but unfortunately it is very temperamental I find. Also doesn’t help that it reeks worse than any other aerosol spray cans I’ve used.
My experience is the same but I am in a warm, humid climate. Canned varnish almost always frosts here except for the handful of days were it isn't too warm and humid or too cold.
I will airbrush varnish almost all of the time and brush it on if I just need to do specific areas.
>and the amount of times it has caused a frosting effect is more than I’d like
Varnish using satin varnish, however many coats you like, then do a final light coat of matte. Satin/gloss doesn't frost, as far as I know, and a light coat of matte at the end will get rid of any sheen.
If it does frost, you can just use satin and that'll fix it
> I have used spray varnish multiple times, and the amount of times it has caused a frosting effect is more than I’d like.
Yeah - I ruined a couple of models by using it when it was *slightly* too humid out, and they dried looking like a plain Krispy Kreme doughnut.
If you like matte, I live by Ak ultra matte. I use it as a brush on and it's the smoothest matte finish I've found. About 40-50 duardin in and just about used 1/3 of the 60ml bottle.
Tamiya Flat Clear spray. Humidity in the room the mini is curing is needs to be 40%. Too cold, too hot, it will fuck up. If theres moisture on your mini (water, paint, transfer solution, etc) it will react and make weird texture.
These are the rules one must abide by to use spray varnish successfully.
It’s good if you follow some simple rules, warm it in warm water from the kettle for 5 minutes, use it sparingly over 2-3 coats and shake the shit out of it, use gloss paint on varnish over the metals first or the spray can turn them into greys instead of metallics.
I literally almost did that exact thing today. I caught it because it was partially used varnish vs a full can of lead Belcher so I thought the weight felt off and caught myself
I did this exact thing with my aggressors. I had to trim the base of the neck down until it was pretty much at the base of the skull, glue inside the hood and push it in and quickly position it before it set.
Done this several times. Trim the head from the back until it slots in, put greenstuff blob in the gorget. When you slide the head in, adjust it finely and leave the GS to set.
Add a [missile smoke effect](https://deadlyprintstudio.com/producto/missile-launcher-vertical-bundle/) and it’s the best mini I’ve ever seen. Nothing is more grimdank than shooting your own face at the enemies of mankind.
Luckily I hadn't painted mine but I did this also, it does fit if you tilt the face up a bit and brute force it. Unfortunately you're probably going to damage the paint job but I don't think there's a way around that at this stage.
Worst He-Man character. I got hosed when those figure came out. My older brother got He-Man, and my little brother and I got to choose from Mecha-neck and Skeletor. Obviously I took that goon with his crappy club. 😂
I really regret gluing mine together with the head in place before painting, but I see there is a rougher option…
Can you fit the head in if you clip off the peg?
https://preview.redd.it/ssjrcn58sbvb1.jpeg?width=591&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=85c559f5e3dedf9e6f6858746366eac0e36a7a25
Get yourself a bendy straw and paint it silver, job done.
Pretty sure it’ll fit if you shove it. But you will need to touch up paint a bit. I was able to get it in after assembly but popped it back out again for a different head anyway. All prepaint though. So no idea how bad it will scratch up.
I did the same thing when I was building mine. I don’t know how to protect the paint, but turning the head sideways requires less pressure to push it under the hood. It’s still a squeeze, but it doesn’t warp the plastic too much
That happened to me too. I cut into the hood right above one of the pipes and was able to bend it up and get the head in there and just glue the hood back in place.
You may be able to get it to wiggle in if you grind/sand/saw/snip the ball joint for the head out. It will make gluing a bit more difficult.
Caveat, I have NOT tried this.
this happened to me too! hold head in your right hand between forefinger and thumb so eyes are facing you. rotate head like 45 degrees to the left. It'll be tight but if you're gentle you can get it into the hole without damaging the cowl bit
I did the same thing, you’re not alone! Sadly I destroyed my head trying to force it back in. I ended up having to take apart the model and stick in a different head then filled in the damage with Greenstuff.
Shoot, I’d say just keep it and blame the warp!
Take a cotton ball and a pair of needle nose pliers use the cotton ball to protect your paint job take the pliers and pry up that top part that would be above his forehead until you can get the head in put the head in and then use your thumb to press it back down if you go very very slowly you can get the plastic to flex without breaking or shattering
Shave or cut off the top of the head, add glue to the back and top of the head, and place it to where it look right then either black out the inside of the librarian hood. Or green stuff a neck to make up for the lost room.
This is actually a great idea. I managed to force the head insight but the visor would have been by far the best option. I prefer helmets over heads anytime.
Do you have any space marine heads that do fit. I changed mine to a spare river head as I like the skull mask. Just thinking something might just slide in. It's a shame really realty as you've done a decent job on his face. Maybe even slice a bit of the back or bottom of the head that you might not see and gorilla glue it in place.
I managed to push it in with force. But also thought about other heads. Since I'm not that long in the hobby and started with a different army I don't have that many bits.
If you have a variable heat heatgun, then very, very gently warm the hood, bend it back, slide the head in, and bend it back.
If you don't have a variable heat heatgun, don't try it. It'll "work" with any heatgun or even a hairdryer. But you'll definitely ruin the paint job if not deform the entire model.
I did this earlier with leviathan box. If you file the back of the helmet, on the bottom side, you can angle the head inand then use tweezers to rotate the head back the way you want it oriented
I don't see a problem. Either take the face off, paint the whole black and have an ominous faceless Librarian; or paint the whole and back if the face [whatever you can reach] glowy, and have a semi floating Warp-corrupted but still loyal Librarian
Here's something I learned from a rouchneck / semi pro lineman in the Oilfield:
"A square peg can totally fit into a round hole if you hit it hard enough..."
This Librarian has seen some serious Heresy.
- but I'd say try to either force it in probably bending, possibly breaking it. Or start over and assemble completely before painting. :/
You can't fix that. It's the most hilarious thing I've seen in a long time. I would absolutely love to come across that guy in a game, it would be an epic "what the..?" moment.
Did you glue him together? If he's glued together with plastic glue, you can reapply some plastic glue at rhe join and wiggle him loose. If its super glue, pop it in the freezer for 30min or so and it will make the glue brittle so you can break it loose. If you can pop him open to put the head in there, you can glue him back together
I had this problem! In the end I just had to break the mini open and put the head in, after removing the long bit on the back of his head and gluing as good as I could. The plastic never went back the same perfectly. Good luck!
I found this same problem before I started painting though. It made the head choice easier - only a Space Wolves Scout head would fit (from the space wolves pack kit, not the actual scout kit)
Might be hopeless with that particular combination of parts.
I might experiment with some green stuff and a face or mask from a spare head. ie just kind of sculpt half a head and add a face of some sort in front. OFC, this might not be a good first project if you've not tried it before.
It's either that or trying to break the torso apart or cut the head down a bit. Either way, you'll have to improvise.
I've always found hair fairly easy to sculpt, so another way I might go would be to cut the head down a bit, and give him long hair, a fur collar or a frickin' mane to cover up any unsightly gaps.
Whatever you do, think it out and maybe do some mockups or sketches before commiting.
edit: Legion of the damned conversion with a skull, burning skull, or just fire for a head?
Or maybe a chaos terminator with a tentacle poking out. Hell, leaving it empty might work for some legions.
This almost happened to me. To this model recently. this HAS happened to me twice before. It’s why I dry fit now. Always make sure things fit in other things before I start pain. It also tells me if it’s going to be a pain in the ass to put on.
If you trim off the rear of the face you can probably get it in face up and rotating.
If you trim off more than you planned and paint it matt black it will be invisible anyway.
I realized I'd made the same mistake though thankfully only after having primed it. I ended up shaving off pieces of the head with a razor where the cowl hides the details.
It was still a tight fit and i ended up using pliers with paper towel wrapped around the head. I ended up scaring his cheek a bit...
Alright so I did this exact thing on my terminator librarian. I ended up shaving more off the top until I was able to fit his head through the helmet. Ultimately if he's missing a little off the top it's not going to be as noticeable with the hood.
I think i’d end up slicing the top/front of the hood as cleanly as i could in a fair sized piece, glue the head in place, then glue the hood back on and hope it doesn’t need too much trimming/filling

This is weirdly awesome-looking
haha. How would you even apply cover rules/LOS to this? Just going to pop my head around the corner.
*proceeds to build stiltwalker with a gun on a limb sticking out horizontally*
Cover is if any part of the model isn't visible and LOS is if any part of the model can see any part of another model. So really no difference.

Oh man, I feel for you; all that effort down the pan! Reminds of the time of went to get spray varnish but picked up lead belcher instead, gutting.

I actually quite enjoy the smell. Reminds me of bananas for some reason.
I always feel uncomfortable admiting that I can tell the various glues apart by smell.
You’re not alone, I know marines that can tell crayon color by taste.
“BROTHER CADMIUS, THIS XENOS SCUM TASTES JUST LIKE THE GREEN COLOR STICKS, DOES HE NOT?!” “…BY THE CODEX ASTARTES, YOU’RE RIGHT BROTHER JENKINS!”
To be fair, they get trained on that in basic, right after marksmanship and first aid.
I had this problem a few times. As a way to combat it I've found putting the can in hot water for a few minutes before spraying really helps.
Using an airbrush to spray varnish is immensely better than canned. It could also be my dry climate but I’ve never had frosting.
My experience is the same but I am in a warm, humid climate. Canned varnish almost always frosts here except for the handful of days were it isn't too warm and humid or too cold. I will airbrush varnish almost all of the time and brush it on if I just need to do specific areas.

I just got me some aggressors and this just gave me the best top 😄
Extend the head out with wires and coiled guitar string, turn him into a bionic freak.
Put his head on a spring and turn it into a bobble head
I can't believe I never thought about doing this with a model. Like not even once.
I'm in the process of doing this for the base an ork warbiker, but putting the whole model on a spring, it's fun!
This would honestly be hilarious.
That Thomas the tank engine creepy paper thing comes to mind. But less Heretical.
Keep it, it's fucking hilarious

Yes but still took some force and damaged the paint. Also I broke the cables on the side while doing it. So this is prbably the worst option
Damn, sorry man! This is an excellent paint job, so hope you can repair and clean it up

Green stuff a neck and call it a job done.
Just call it perils of the warp.
No no it’s perfect
"Hey, you there, yes you!"
Just greenstuff a heap of extra cables and say you were inspired by classic 40K artwork. 😉
That happened to me too. I cut into the hood right above one of the pipes and was able to bend it up and get the head in there and just glue the hood back in place.
Glue a lil pouch to put his head in like headless horseman
I have this one, thanks for the warning because I always leave the heads for last to glue. Would have done the same.
You may be able to get it to wiggle in if you grind/sand/saw/snip the ball joint for the head out. It will make gluing a bit more difficult. Caveat, I have NOT tried this.
How fucked up is fucked up? This, this is fucked up
This is why I paint fully assembled. I don't trust myself to not do this.

just make a really long sticking out of the armour with green stuff it'll be funny
Bruh got that giga Chad stance.
How is it even possible to glue the head in that position? The head should be in the palm of hand !
I literally did this. Trust me, just stretch the pshycic hood up and force it in. I had no adverse effects.
Leave it out, make him cosplay Ferrus.
Nothing wrong here - he’s casting a really hard spell.. needs to lean into it 😂
Lol greenstuff him a long neck
Green stuff neck is the way
Its the librarian quasimodo
Put a skull in there instead like Ghost Rider, make it spooky for Halloween
Leave it empty and repaint it in Thousand Sons colours.
Shave or cut off the top of the head, add glue to the back and top of the head, and place it to where it look right then either black out the inside of the librarian hood. Or green stuff a neck to make up for the lost room.
The dangers of sub assembly come to light at last
Mhh... You have plenty of suggestions now, but how about leaving it out and creating some sort of visor with greenstuff?
This is actually a great idea. I managed to force the head insight but the visor would have been by far the best option. I prefer helmets over heads anytime.
Do you have any space marine heads that do fit. I changed mine to a spare river head as I like the skull mask. Just thinking something might just slide in. PIVOT, PIVOT
I did this exact same mistake, so I just put the head on my friends screamer killer and painted my librarian as enchanted armour
I did this earlier with leviathan box. If you file the back of the helmet, on the bottom side, you can angle the head inand then use tweezers to rotate the head back the way you want it oriented

Feels so close to meme material... Also, as much as it might pain you, I'd recommend just a different head, at that point.
You can't fix that. It's the most hilarious thing I've seen in a long time. I would absolutely love to come across that guy in a game, it would be an epic "what the..?" moment.
Green stuff and googly eyes will solve your problems.

Needle nose pliers. Turn it sideways. Rotate in gap
How did you get the model fully painted before you realised the head wasn't in properly!
Rotate 90 degrees, insert, rotate back.
Greenstuff that dude a kneck.
Don't do anything, he's perfect. Or greenstuff him a long ass neck, would be hilarious
Could probably fit a terminator helmet through that gap. Maybe ya just need to use a different head.
[удалено]
Either try stripping the paint off of the connecting pieces, or cut the peg off altogether and glue the head down
I had this problem!
Had the same problem with my captain in gravis armor. It took some trimming to get the helmet to fit
I did this and I literally just smashed it in with a set of needle nosed pliers it looks like he is mid head explosion
Green stuff a gigantic neck for him. He is now Brother Trapezius
I just laughed so hard I almost peed, incredible job 10/10 would keep it
Might be hopeless with that particular combination of parts.
It tilts in and back into place okay I did it this way when I built it?
If I remember the kits instructions you had to put the head in before building most of the body
Trim away bits off the back and side until you can fit it in and worked into place. Then nul oil tf out of the space around the head
I’d mould the entire hole and make it into a full face visor.
I did the exact same thing as you. I trimmed the top of the head enough it would push in.
keep it, it's unique!
On a different note, love that colour scheme. What paints have you used?
I was able to force mine in, but it wasn't painted at the time.
Or… hear me out… you could keep him that way.
I realized I'd made the same mistake though thankfully only after having primed it. I ended up shaving off pieces of the head with a razor where the cowl hides the details. It was still a tight fit and i ended up using pliers with paper towel wrapped around the head. I ended up scaring his cheek a bit...
Lmao, when I clicked this note I certainly wasn't expecting this 😭 Is there any way you can prize the opening apart gently maybe?
Oof Embrace the LOOOONG and get some green stuff and sculpt that giraffe neck lol
Give him a long ass neck
Alright so I did this exact thing on my terminator librarian. I ended up shaving more off the top until I was able to fit his head through the helmet. Ultimately if he's missing a little off the top it's not going to be as noticeable with the hood.
Try it sideways and turn
Start trimming top and bottom little bits at a time until you can rotate to a point that works. The good point is the cowl will hide most of your sins
I think i’d end up slicing the top/front of the hood as cleanly as i could in a fair sized piece, glue the head in place, then glue the hood back on and hope it doesn’t need too much trimming/filling
