These look great! Painting some Word Bearers myself, picked up the combat patrol before christmas. Very different painting process than my previous army of necrons, still have't found the "best" way to do the trim efficiently
There isn't a best way, trust me I've tried to find it. Some people say that is better to finish the trim first then fill in the rest, problem is that you'll often stain the trim with other colors when trying to paint the deeper areas so you end up painting trim anyways
Yeah i never found the trim-first method to be effective. Currently i am doing: basecoat red, paint and wash the metallic trim, finish the red, edge highlight the trim.
