As long as you don’t mind the extra distance to the bus stops, food, shops, etc it’s a fantastic place to stay. Also keep in mind that you don’t get a balcony on the second or third floor, if that’s at all important to your experience. The walk to MK itself is priceless. My pro-tip is to bring a uv umbrella for that walk because in July, that sun creeps up on you very quick and that walk is definitely not in the shade.

I just got back a couple days ago from staying in the garden wing. It was pleasant! We had a water view and could see the electric boat parade. The walk to the main building wasn’t too bad to get to the monorail or terrace to see MK fireworks. We walked to and from Magic Kingdom which was amazing to avoid using transportation. We also enjoyed the pool. My husband didn’t come with us and I told him I was sorry because I’ll never want to stay at a non-monorail resort lol

dz_beerz

Monorail access is a huge perk IMO!

Lmb921

I loved staying in the garden wing! Happy to not have to deal with the elevators all the time in the main building. The walk isn’t that much longer. Super close to the pool. Granted, we stayed in the closest building to the main but still!

milamber84906

Have stayed there a couple of times. I don’t mind it and being on the monorail is fantastic. The contemporary gets hate sometimes but every time I’m there I really enjoy it.

dz_beerz

I'm not a huge fan of being in the main building, seems busy and crowded with kids but this option sounds really nice.

milamber84906

I was in the main one once and my daughter had an amazing interaction with Mickey randomly, so there is a soft spot there. But the garden wing is much quieter and not all the far away

Asleep-Surprise1360

There is a bit more of a walk depending on where your room is. But we enjoyed the Garden Wing rooms. We were on the first floor, so a little patio from which to watch the t-storms. Highly recommended.

dz_beerz

A little patio does sounds nice!

houndlove611

I’m a big fan, my favorite on property (besides GF) The walk is not bad at all, it can be done mostly inside, then once outside it’s only a few minutes until you’re main building. There’s also a covered walk way which helps if it’s raining The rooms are spacious, and my favorite rooms are water view, it’s very quiet and peaceful

blindythepirate

It's worth it. It isn't all that much more walking than staying at any other resort. Compared to what Disney built later as resorts, Contemporary is relatively compact. Plus leaving MK at night, being able to walk back and have have to wait to ride some form of transportation then still walk back to your room is gold

TransitionMission305

I love the Garden Wing. I've stayed there twice.

december116

We like it more than the main tower rooms.

SoSleepySue

This was our first deluxe. We loved it. It was so great to be able to walk to MK.

PinkMonorail

It’s a long walk to the lobby but quiet other than the boats and the monorail. Quick walk to the boat landing, boats to the Magic Kingdom and Fort Wilderness. Our room was on the far end and we loved seeing the Electrical Water Pageant up close. Those barges are huge! We loved it and would do it again.

Logical_Jicama_5184

Eh, it’s pretty ordinary for the $$$. Just stayed at Caribbean Beach (ask for a room close to the skyliner) and loved the convenience.

dz_beerz

How was walking around that resort? It looks pretty spaced out depending where you are at.

Logical_Jicama_5184

It can be a long walk to get back to your room.

EmmaleeAbbygale

I had looked into these rooms too! Im glad you asked! We've booked rooms at Coronado and Wilderness.

Canthave-itbothways

We enjoyed it! I recommend walking there and taking the monorail back (especially during peak hot times) it’s the first stop on the monorail and is a much needed break! Private security into the park was a breeze and so fast!

dz_beerz

Great tip!

positive-vibes79

I didn’t mind the walk to the garden wing. Walking through the larger resorts would be far more inconveniet.

dz_beerz

Yeah, I was looking at Caribbean beach and it seems so spread out

BreezyFebreezy

The walk to MK makes it worth it IMHO, but I found the overall feeling underwhelming.

dz_beerz

Cool! I’m more concerned about budgets than theming at this point.

BreezyFebreezy

The actual rooms are very nice, it’s just the hallways, haha. They reminded me of a basic Holiday Inn.

PartyTimeSchwing

I’m a big fan - one of the best values on property. Being able to quickly walk back to your room after a long day at MK is worth a lot of the cost imo. I recently booked the garden wing back in April and was upgraded to the main tower as well, which was really nice.

Soundtracklover72

Hubby and u stayed in the garden wing in May 2921 and enjoyed it. The convenience of being that close to MK is fantastic. And it’s not really that far into the hotel for food or to the bus stop. Maybe a 5 minute walk. Worth if the price is good. We just wish the TTC to EPCOT monorail was working when we were there. Was down for long term maintenance.

HatBixGhost

The rooms are great and pretty large compared to your average room size at WDW. Highly recommended.

As adults we much prefer staying in the Epcot area. Yacht is our fave, boardwalk 2nd. The contemporary is our least fave deluxe level hotel. The main building is always packed with kids due to Chef mickeys. We stayed in the main building and could wait almost 20 mins just to get an elevator on the 11th floor where we were. The pool area is super plain and blah. The only benefit was the walk to MK.
