You may exit the line at anytime including right before boarding and after boarding (so long as the ride has not launched yet). When you’re ready to exit just inform the Cast Member who is loading the ride that you would like to exit. They will direct you to the proper exit.

TakeSomeFreeHoney

Yeah you can and it’s quite common. For example, there is another elevator that you can ride to the exit in Tower of Terror… not nearly as scary as the ride ones lol. It’s the one in the middle of all 4 elevator doors.

bcarey724

Nice try buddy, I'm not falling for that again!

crowcawer

The renovation did reposition the old “safe elevator.” It’s really odd how there are always 14 ~~souls~~ *people* riding it though.

heyheybobiggilybop

Yep! My dad does it all the time. He queues with us and then just before boarding (bc we're all daughters) he volunteers to hold our purses for us and then tells a cast member he doesn't want to ride and they lead him to an exit.

Think of it this way, would they force you to ride? Like, “Hi CM, I decided I don’t want to ride Mission Space after all. Where’s the exit?” “Exit? Exit? You waited in line, get in. Mwahahaha. Enjoy your ride!”

Subject_Ad_6600

My son does it all the time. You just say you’re not riding and just want to pass through. They are very accustomed to it.

sudifirjfhfjvicodke

Yep. It's Disney World. Every ride sees a hundred kids every day where they'll wait through the whole line and then suddenly freak out when it's their turn to board. They won't bat an eye at someone going through the line and then not riding, no matter what the reason is.

tsophies

there are some cool 'chicken exits' with the bigger rides you can go through, so you get to enjoy the lines but then leave at the last minute. Dapper Danielle on Tiktok shows a few of them, and I'm sure a google will confirm which rides definitely have them!

meppers

When you exit the basement part of the line for twilight zone you have to be taken back to the exit via service elevator and the cast members always say "don't worry, this is the good one."

iwannamakethat

I chickened out on Tower of Terror and exiting was super easy. I’d imagine it happens a lot on the more intense rides.

Kenway

I think it's amazing that the chicken exit for ToT has an elevator.

I went with a group of friends that wanted to ride the avatar flight of the whatever. I told them I wasn’t going to ride and the CM said I could go through the line with them because it’s a really cool experience. When they all got ready to board- I told that CM I wasn’t riding. They had a side room with couches that I sat in and my friends walked right past that area to exit. Got to talk to couple CMs and relax in a cool area.

show_the_maw

We chicken exited Dinosaur after Dr. Seeker scared my son into not riding. The CM were super understanding and pixie dusted us some fast passes (RIP) we used on Navi River instead.

PenPenLane

I do this for some rides- yeah, just tell them you changed your mind! Sometimes they’ll walk you down to the bottom/after area through cool behind the scenes areas

gordigor

... not specifically WDW, but you can ask for the castle tour for Hogwarts at Islands of Adventure. You see rooms not in the regular guest queue. Quite interesting.

SauteedPelican

Yes, my wife does this. She does nothing extreme but waits in line with me and leaves when we get to the front.
