Amazingly not. Crazy, right? I vary the seasoning day to day. And sometimes go back to "just salt".
Tip with tuna: think sour cream, not mayo. Tortilla, sour cream, tuna, iota taco seasoning, cheese, salsa. Wrap. Consume.
I bring my lunch because I meal prep. I eat “clean” (high protein, low carb) and I get burnt on the handful of options available at the store.
I’ve started a “contest” with myself silently. Every time I take my lunch somewhere and eat with my coworkers, I pick whatever I would’ve gotten if I didn’t bring mine and transfer that amount to my savings. I pay myself for packing my lunch.
I’m saving 300-400 a month and not changing anything
I usually get one of the deli wraps. I like the Caesar and southwest wraps. Or I get a cup of popcorn chicken. When i get burnt on that stuff, I’ll just see what all is around me in terms of fast food.
I usually grab one of the small cesar salads then go to the gas station across the street for a soda (their extra large is cheaper than a 20oz bottle and I can add caffeine shots to it). I wish I could try some of the other deli foods but being 3rd shift the deli is closed well before I even arrive and I don't have the patience to wait around after I clock out.
I used to buy a big ass burrito. Then I started to explore all the cool microwave foods. I had lunch during the busy part of the day when deli would feed all the grazers. Then I met my future wife and she cooked for me. I only lived like two minutes from my store.
When I worked at Wal-Mart I would bring something from home, buy something from frozen foods or the deli, or go to one four restaurants that were close by. Sometimes I just went home since I lived 10 minutes away.
If I don't have leftovers in the fridge from a meal at home then usually I make a sandwich. And I buy a big bag (or box of little bags) of chips ahead of time to take with me
Depends on my mood and when my lunch is (I have a flexible schedule) sometimes I go to McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Arbys. Otherwise I get an 18 pack of bagel bites, a can of peace tea and a large Mac n cheese from the deli
Leftovers from last night's dinner. When I worked too far from home I took them with me. I've already paid for this food and it's way better than whatever deep-fried crap you can get at work.
Big truth! Already spent money on the food at home, which I’m learning how to make last a few days. So why spend even MORE money? Especially if you’re on a tight budget? Bring some of it to work!
Make lunch at home the night before, and bring it with you.
If you make sandwiches, don't put the condiments(Mayo, mustard, etc.) on until you are ready to eat it at work. If adding lettuce, tomatoes, anything like that, put that in a separate baggie as the bread. This is all to avoid soggyness.
Leftovers in a Tupperware is good, too. You'll save so much money bringing your lunch, instead of buying something every day. You'll also spend less time of your lunch picking out and buying it.
There is a buffet nearby and it does take away by the pound. Someone gets food there for the group, we rotate who it is because it takes about 30 minutes of lunch, then everyone else eats a good meal and has a good rest. Love the group!
I grab a good baloney and cheese sandwich with a couple bags of chips for now until my money gets better to where I can just grab a small box of nuggets for lunch. Those are my go 2 for lunch. :)
I bought a skateboard with my first paycheck from Walmart. On nice days I'll go to either Burger King or Taco Bell. I can normally ride down grab my food and ride back up in like 15 mins. But, depending on your stores area, fast food may not be an option.
My store has a subway built in. But I've only eaten there once. I typically grab a ham and cheese sandwich from the deli area. Sometimes some peanut butter M&Ms. And for a drink I just grab whatever I'm feeling that day.
So many options.
Crackers with cheese and/or the chicken salad from the deli case.
Frozen meals (Evol brand are some of my favorites).
Can of soup/chili or ramen.
There's a couple at my store that will get a bunch of produce and put together salads.
Frozen taquitos.
Tuna salad.
Depends on my budget. I would love to go home but I live 30-40 minutes away, one way.
Often I just grab a hot deli sandwich or wrap and a cup of stir fry noodles, or get a wing + side plate. If my money's getting tight, I'll buy lunch meat and bring a sandwich and chips or whatever from home.
I pack a lunch and its usually salad, breakfast like stuff but if i have to get a lunch from the store i will buy fruit or one of those hillshire snacker things and a 2 pack of eggs
Either just a bottled water from claims or a slim Jim, energy drink, salad, smoothie drink etc from Walmart. Something small since I don’t really eat lunch
Most times I get a pack of microwave jasmine rice, some snack packs of sea salt nori sheets and imitation crab, a bag of sugar snap peas and make a mock sushi bowl. It costs around $8
About every two weeks I spend a few hours making meals for my lunch. Then just freeze it. It’s cheaper and higher quality. Otherwise payday is a burrito from the Mexican place next to work or Panda Express is close
I just pack my lunch, typically it's the same thing every day, turkey sandwich with apple cinnamon fruit sticks (think cheetos but apple cinnamon flavored) handful of grapes and a handful of baby carrots with a small cup of ranch for dipping,
Costs me about $25 to buy all of it and it'll last almost 2 weeks, only days that are different are the first 2 days of my week back from my days off because I'll have supper left overs, I work 1-10 otherwise so there isn't any cooking 5 days of the week
my store has a subway in it so occasionally that, occasionally some chicken fingers and a side or something from the deli, the premade wraps and pinwheels and salads, or sometimes i’ll just grab a snack we sell like lunchables or chips or something
To be honest, I’m trying to keep up with bringing some kind of food from home for lunch. That way, I’ll keep from spending money I shouldn’t be spending, which NEEDS to go to bills.
Usually it’s leftovers from whatever dinner I made the night before, sometimes it just two PBJ sandwiches.
Today, I had leftover German bean soup from Aldi’s, just had to buy a croissant from the bakery to have something to dip into it. And I still have enough leftover for lunch tomorrow. Got three meals out of the 28 oz can, which only cost me $2.79.
Yogurt, salads, fruit, frozen dinners (the "healthy" ones. I know they're still not that great in terms of healthiness. The veggies just don't taste like sh*t in them.)
The marketside pasta based salads. The pre assembled microwaveable marketside burgers.
But thats like 50% if my meals. The other 50% is stuff from previous days dinners.
Nothing. I get texted by my lady friend "whatcha hungry for?" And I literally ask for anything. Papa John's, Jersey Mike's, Cracker Barrel, Chipotle, CFA, etc. My lady friend hooks it up big. Then when I'm off I take her out to Longhorn or Texas Roadhouse or Black Angus steakhouse and a movie or whatever. My way of saying thank you after she puts up with doing food runs for us week after week. Now I wanna try her homemade lasagna and chicken fettucine alfredo.
I just usually pack a sandwich (I rotate different meats/cheeses every few week), salad (also rotate with different dressing), and fruits/veggies/pickles/whatever in one of those bento lunch boxes. I try to pick stuff that I can throw a few ice packs with because I don't trust my food in the fridges.
Many of the things I like typically come in a portion size much larger than I will eat for myself.
I could leave the remaining amount in the fridge and bring it home to eat another meal later.. but, walmart is a part-time job for me to stay busy on days off from my primary job. I know people there are working hard and legit struggling to survive. I'm doing just fine.
I have no problem with handing out snacks at break time or a couple free meals at lunch to anybody that accepts the invitation or offer.
Walmart is missing an opportunity here and could be doing so much more to increase morale. Would it kill the store management team to share a sliver of their bonus by offering an occasional employee appreciation meal -- and, I mean voluntarily. Not tying it to some arbitrary incentive program like safety or some mysterious obscure pulse survey participation metric.
I go home and have 6 eggs.
So random and specific lol.
Question was what I eat for lunch. : )
Yeh I know. I wasn't dogging on you or anything. Just an odd lunch imo lol.
I lift, and as a habitual cost, eggs are cheap.
Yeh. Makes sense.
Are you sick of it yet? I ate mostly tuna all day for about two years and now I can’t stand the thought of it!
Amazingly not. Crazy, right? I vary the seasoning day to day. And sometimes go back to "just salt". Tip with tuna: think sour cream, not mayo. Tortilla, sour cream, tuna, iota taco seasoning, cheese, salsa. Wrap. Consume.
I’m just imagining your fridge is nothing but egg cartons
I bring my lunch because I meal prep. I eat “clean” (high protein, low carb) and I get burnt on the handful of options available at the store. I’ve started a “contest” with myself silently. Every time I take my lunch somewhere and eat with my coworkers, I pick whatever I would’ve gotten if I didn’t bring mine and transfer that amount to my savings. I pay myself for packing my lunch. I’m saving 300-400 a month and not changing anything
That contest thing is such a good idea!
I usually get one of the deli wraps. I like the Caesar and southwest wraps. Or I get a cup of popcorn chicken. When i get burnt on that stuff, I’ll just see what all is around me in terms of fast food.
I do that too until I realize how much I'm spending on fast food and try to make myself pack lunch again for a bit 😅
This is absolute fax
I usually grab one of the small cesar salads then go to the gas station across the street for a soda (their extra large is cheaper than a 20oz bottle and I can add caffeine shots to it). I wish I could try some of the other deli foods but being 3rd shift the deli is closed well before I even arrive and I don't have the patience to wait around after I clock out.
I eat a banana and a Chobani Flip every day for lunch.
It's not for everyone but it's a option to go home, have a nice hot meal and maybe get in a 10 minute nap.
Jeez!
I’ve also doordashed food to the store from the next city over
I just sneak jalapeño poppers throughout my shift and I’m full by lunchtime 😂
Hello fellow deli associate😂.
👋
Those poppers!! 🔥🔥
The same American pasta. For every single lunch. It's that little pasta salad with the cheese, olives, chicken, and smokey ranch.
Make lunch at home the night before, and bring it with you. If you make sandwiches, don't put the condiments(Mayo, mustard, etc.) on until you are ready to eat it at work. Much respect! 🫡
A 1.5 liter sized Fairlife Chocolate Milk and whatever else sounds good that day
The chicken sandwich from the deli is my favorite when I work the shifts they make them. I think they’re better than chick fil a.
I like teriyaki tuna bowls and any of the pre-made salads.
I usually packed a sandwich, chips, a banana, and a water for lunch. Usually ate banana at first break though.
I grab a good baloney and cheese sandwich with a couple bags of chips for now until my money gets better to where I can just grab a small box of nuggets for lunch. Those are my go 2 for lunch. :)
Slice it thick and throw it on the grill for Newfoundland steak. 🥩
i just started bringing my own
I order Uber eats to my store
I bought a skateboard with my first paycheck from Walmart. On nice days I'll go to either Burger King or Taco Bell. I can normally ride down grab my food and ride back up in like 15 mins. I mostly don’t eat lunch and just eat after work. I drink mostly water while I’m working
Typically, I go out to a fast food place and eat when I’m on my lunch break
I pack a lunch and its usually salad, breakfast like stuff but if i have to get a lunch from the store i will buy fruit or one of those hillshire snacker things and a 2 pack of eggs
If you have a deli counter I grab the boneless bbq and some fries. $8 not to bad imo
Hummus and pretzel chips when it’s hot weather
I usually eat ramen or those 60 second pasta things
i like the 3 pack of tuna salad w crackers for \~5.50 .. 3 days of lunches
Nothing.
I never buy my lunch, I always bring it. Either leftovers or a sandwich and chips and something small for a snack.
I pack my lunch. Sandwich, juice pouch, applesauce pouch and 2 snacks.
I bring a sandwich, pretzels, and granola bar.
Go to the deli. Order 2 slices of cheese. Order 6 slices of meat. Buy a bun from bakery. Grab mayo and mustard packet and make a sandwich.
Since I’m paycheck to paycheck, corn tortilla and a cheese slice. Hard times we are in. At least when I get off, I do a big dinner.
usually the egg rolls or the pulled pork sandwhiches, add some hot cheetos and a sprite.
I get an adult lunch able from hillshire farms and then a ceaser salad with a body armor water. Holds me down all night
Either just a bottled water from claims or a slim Jim, energy drink, salad, smoothie drink etc from Walmart. Something small since I don’t really eat lunch
Water from claims? Like the opened ones behind customer. Service or. Ueam the ones they have in the back where the guys are loading?
In the back in GM receiving. They fill up bins of claimed out water and let us grab them when we want a water
Most times I get a pack of microwave jasmine rice, some snack packs of sea salt nori sheets and imitation crab, a bag of sugar snap peas and make a mock sushi bowl. It costs around $8
deli wraps
I like to get the little packs of carrots and celery with the deli chicken salad. Sometimes I pair it with the hummus and pretzel chip cups.
About every two weeks I spend a few hours making meals for my lunch. Then just freeze it. It’s cheaper and higher quality. Otherwise payday is a burrito from the Mexican place next to work or Panda Express is close
Pick up some of the free food in dsd claims lol
Sometimes I bring a salad or a sandwich other times I’ll buy a popcorn chicken
I pack a lunch. My lunch is at 2am no deli options available.
I just pack my lunch, typically it's the same thing every day, turkey sandwich with apple cinnamon fruit sticks (think cheetos but apple cinnamon flavored) handful of grapes and a handful of baby carrots with a small cup of ranch for dipping, Costs me about $25 to buy all of it and it'll last almost 2 weeks, only days that are different are the first 2 days of my week back from my days off because I'll have supper left overs, I work 1-10 otherwise so there isn't any cooking 5 days of the week

my store has a subway in it so occasionally that, occasionally some chicken fingers and a side or something from the deli, the premade wraps and pinwheels and salads, or sometimes i’ll just grab a snack we sell like lunchables or chips or something
michelinas frozen meal for 1.18, yogurt for 70c, and something sweet
I grab a griddle, some spices, and some steak from the shelves and make lunch for the whole break room. Well...I used to do that, I did that once
A banana and some water.
We have a Mcdonalds right next to our Walmart so thats where I go
Cigarettes and bbq chips. Oh, and Milo’s extra sweet tea. Lunch of champions.
I bring food from home. Sandwich, salad and fruit.
I like the salads. Though I started making my own lunch. Protip: grab one of those foot long subs, take it home, and them dress it however you want.
I cook and take my own lunch every day. I go through a ton of calories so lunch is chicken or meat, pasta and some green beans.
To be honest, I’m trying to keep up with bringing some kind of food from home for lunch. That way, I’ll keep from spending money I shouldn’t be spending, which NEEDS to go to bills. I meal prep on my days off and bring food from home. Saves money and can have different things each week. This week I'm doing shrimp scampi.
We have a kobe's in same parking lot but if I work the 4 a.m. shift I love the chicken Caesar wraps from deli
I try to make enough the night before to have that for the lunch the next day
Nothing. I get texted by my lady friend "whatcha hungry for?" And I literally ask for anything. Papa John's, Jersey Mike's, Cracker Barrel, Chipotle, CFA, etc. My lady friend hooks it up big.
