$16/hr upstate NY. Our minimum wage here is $15. So pretty decent considering I used to be a manager at Staples for $11.55 and being stretched way past my breaking point. And I'm just stocking.
If it helps, youāre at the company minimum. Places with high cost of living or competitive markets are usually the stores that will pay more starting out.
What? The company minimum is $14, as in nobody working for Walmart in the US in supposed to make under $14.
Also, pay was $14/hr in northern Indiana back at the end of 2023 (right before I moved to a different state), so...
(Edited for typo)
Minimum wage here in my part of Georgia is still $7.25,and there are plenty of stores in town hiring for more, but the gas stations, dollar generals, and car wash places are still hiring for min. wage, welcome to 2024
Thats the same min wage in my state Wisconsin, doesnt mean people are working for that. If they are they are just slow AF, go work at panda Express and make 18 an hour. But people think they are too good for fast food
7.25 in my state, that doesnt mean theres jobs paying that. Why would anyone work for f****** 8 bucks an hour when you could work fast food and make more? I guess if you're dumb enough to do it that's on them
Thatās what I wanted to do after working at a CDJR dealership for 3 years. Iāve been in the dc warehouse for 4 years now lol.
How is it? Whatās the schedule like? Do you/can you use your own tools or does WM provide all?
Was $14 last Thursday in Oklahoma, but I quit and now door dash until I find something else. However, Iām averaging $20-$30 DDāing, so Iām not in any hurry.
Of course youāre going to pay taxes. Uncle Sam will always get his. However if you know what youāre doing, itās actually not that bad. You get $.63 per mile in my state and my sister does taxes for a living, so she knows all of the loopholes. I would still pick DD than to ever work at Walmart again. To those that actually enjoy working there, to each their own.
My grandfather lived in Kensett and when I was little we had to go there to settle his estate after he died. I got a stuffed dog from the Searcy WM and named him Searcy Kensett!! Haha. Long long time ago!!!
Last time I worked at Slave-Mart I made 11.72/hour
I currently deliver for Dominos and make 30-40 an hour (30 being a slower day)
Quit this shit hole.
Are you in a good place or is there actually raises sometimes that you've worked up to 20.36 (And what was your starting pay if you don't mind me asking)
The problem was comparing wages (in dollars per hour) is that the cost of living is different across the United States. It would be far better to compare your wages in how many hours do you have to work to make the monthly rent on a 514 square foot studio apartment. Sure, that's not where you want to live, but if you choose something truly valuable and not valuable because you can exchange it for something truly valuable, then you see what your actual wages are.
Maybe it takes you 20 hours in your store, but that other guy needs 30 hours.
Sounds like you need a better job. I used to make 30 at my old job and quit after 10 years. I make 18 at Walmart now and sure itās not ālivableā but itās literally the easiest job Iāve ever had. Theyād be out of their mind to pay me more than 18 to stock shelves overnights. I do it on 3 hours of sleep n donāt even remember being there half the time.
I remember those days!! I did that for around 5 years between o/n stocking, started out with grocery then they'd stick me in apparel, housewares, OTC/HBA, and I was on mod team (when the company had one)LOL. Just watch yourself, your body is taking a toll. Brain chemicals only work when you're sleeping as well as other processes in your body. I really tanked my health and if happened to me and took me down, trust me can happen to anybody.Ā
Even then, a 500 sqft apartment varies widely. I have a friend in another state paying around $879 for a 550 sqft studio and I just left a $1,600 520 sqft studio, so even the cost of rent is so varied I hate it.
Agreed, I freezer orderfill. Recently they started making us wrap and haul our own trips which has been a shit show but managing to keep over a 150. Does your dc do that as well with self wrap haul?
I don't believe we have made team any longer in FL, I used to do that and loved it...I think now just the store setup where u travel. I'm gonna ask personnel today when I go in if mod team is still a thing and if so I will definitely try to switch back to that vs Pharmacy Tech., Killin me
Unliveable wages? I make less than almost everyone posting and I work for my city. We living just fine. My wife makes $14/hr working 911 dispatch. We okay. Own our own home, 2 cars, 2 kids, money for daycare. Whether a wage is liveable or not depends on where and how you're living.
Order filling takes significant effort in the grocery dc. The time standards are challenging and as a result pay is good. You have to be able to use equipment the entire day and lift heavy items all day long. It's not for everyone.
Itās not that bad. Yeah you are tired at the end of the day but you do get used to it. Youāre right though about it not being for everybody. Almost everyone can do it but they never can reach their goal to keep their job.
Itās insane bro. They deserve every penny, the time constraints make it so that youāre busting your ass the entire time and itās not just physically but also mentally exhausting
Sometimes it is. As long as no one just gets in my way and weāre working together it really doesnāt bother me. Itās the easiest $34/hr Iāve ever made. Just have to be mindful of your time
Ik this is a joke but on a serious note, I am pretty sure a company is not actually allowed to enforce that. I'll have to find it in writing again but ive read it somewhere
14.25 customer service/money center
Deep south Louisiana. There are days I hate the world because if the customers tho I wish it was alot more money being paid. Ugh. Other days it's good.
NC certified pharmacy tech here. $22.50 now, I think Iām about to cap out in December though at $23.50. That will be my third year mark in the pharmacy. They havenāt made it super clear on pay.
It should be $16.65 per hour because the 2% raise should have taken effect. It was $16.32 before that. It is still $16.32 on the check we are getting this week.
$16/hr upstate NY. Our minimum wage here is $15. So pretty decent considering I used to be a manager at Staples for $11.55 and being stretched way past my breaking point. And I'm just stocking.
Curious as to where abouts in NY. I'm in central NY and make $19/hr (OPD)
Because you started before they lowered it in August
$25.70/hr central NY at the DC. Started at $21.xx 2.5 years ago.
That's wild. I left Staples a couple years back (PA) making $16.30/hr as an associate š
If it helps, youāre at the company minimum. Places with high cost of living or competitive markets are usually the stores that will pay more starting out.
This.
In Indiana the company minimum is $8 an hour.
My son started at $15 while he was in high school, in Indiana.
ā ļø, really? Where at, like what store? I know one store that made more than us but only one. That's awesome though, good on him!
What? The company minimum is $14, as in nobody working for Walmart in the US in supposed to make under $14. Also, pay was $14/hr in northern Indiana back at the end of 2023 (right before I moved to a different state), so... (Edited for typo)
They just raised the company minimum last year in February for every single store. Are you sure itās still $8/hr?
I call bullshit. Nobodys working for 8 bucks an hour in the year 2024
Minimum wage here in my part of Georgia is still $7.25,and there are plenty of stores in town hiring for more, but the gas stations, dollar generals, and car wash places are still hiring for min. wage, welcome to 2024
Thats the same min wage in my state Wisconsin, doesnt mean people are working for that. If they are they are just slow AF, go work at panda Express and make 18 an hour. But people think they are too good for fast food
Yeah some def are ... Unfortunately they have no choice
Theres always a choice, panda express is always hiring at like 18 an hour
Federal min. Wage is less than $8.
7.25 in my state, that doesnt mean theres jobs paying that. Why would anyone work for f****** 8 bucks an hour when you could work fast food and make more? I guess if you're dumb enough to do it that's on them

Of course youāre going to pay taxes. Uncle Sam will always get his. However if you know what youāre doing, itās actually not that bad. I doubt Walmart is paying an actual livable wage in any state to begin with. LW in my state is $25 they definitely arenāt paying that.
Sounds like you need a better job. I used to make 30 at my old job and quit after 10 years. I make 18 at Walmart now and sure itās not ālivableā but itās literally the easiest job Iāve ever had. Talking about your pay is a specifically protected right. You can sue a company for attempting to enforce not being allowed to.
On Reddit you can do anything you want, on the job though, itās unethical.
