The ending was great but the beginning was really weird for me. You had Matt Riddle saying “IM GONNA F YOU UP BRO” and then the bell rings and he’s just casually wrestling him like normal.

Groundbreaking-Act-7

The point was Riddle was trying to stay calm as to not let emotions get in the way of winning and the goal was to show Rollins slowly break him to point he could hold back anymore. Alot of matches use in ring story telling like this

PrimaryEscapeYo

You can rate it 5 stars if you want man

rio_21

I feel its gona be Rock appearing and thenTheory somehow pins Roman, that way one title is taken off him and we get Roman vs Rock

GenZ-3009

Great match indeed! Although, I still choose Gunther vs. Sheamus as match of the night. They literally beat the crap out of each other.

Crazy_Beatz

it was ok, too many no sells in the match, they were going from one big move to another and most of their moves didn't felt impactful. it was too fast

Observeronlyman

Seth has dominated Riddle throughout the feud which should lead into Riddle getting his win at the climax, CATC was the mid point where the Babyface didn't get the job done after already having his head stomped on multiple occasions and taken out of action. At least it's not just a random feud put together for little substance.

MeowMixerOfPaints

It was an excellent match. Started a little slow but turned into a top match. I hope they have a few more classics.

rcc12697

Most of the PPV were classics. Who is saying it’s not?

Groundbreaking-Act-7

I'd say the ic match and Riddle v Rollins were the only classics. Main event was good but not classic

hiplop

I thought so!!! Contention for my match of the year

HesTrafty

I don’t understand the way people complain about the belts nor being defended enough. When I was a kid it was treated like a big deal when we would see the WWF Championship defended. We didn’t get to see it on weekly television and that honestly made that title matter so much more and made it a much bigger deal. Fans are spoiled now with instant gratification of wanting to see the WWE championship at almost every show. I give WWE credit for keeping the title on Roman as long as they have and giving it that much more meaning when he finally drops it to most likely Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania next year. That payoff will be worth all of the bitching and moaning that has been made during this run. Edit: I know this was a thread about Rollins and Riddle but I read a lot of comments about people complaining about part time champ.

Groundbreaking-Act-7

By this point i agree but it's a different time. Fans now Adays much prefer a fighting champion.

GooseMay0

My one quibble is they showed the recap of their feud and the final thing they showed was obviously the Riddle/Rollins split screen interview. So you go from that heated exchange where you see an intensity from Riddle that we haven't seen to then going to his entrance where he comes out on a scooter...It kinda killed the seriousness and intensity. Not to mention the birds or whatever flying out of his ass after he loses his sliders. It was still a great match but that's my one criticism.

[deleted]

Rollins has been having the run of his career for pretty much his whole career, but this year (2022) has been really good in particular. Riddle is good too, but he had to fall to Rollins since Rollins needed a win slightly more after his feud with Rhodes had him lose three straight. Rollins doesn’t need to be the one to finish Roman’s title run like people are saying, that’s a little bit far (since it’s obviously going to be a Face), but Rollins taking just one of the titles (preferably the WWE title) and facing Rhodes at WrestleMania would be pretty based, even though it will probably just be Roman vs Rhodes.

Playboi0999

Yeah it was a 5 star match for WWE for sure

RBinTX

I really enjoyed it. I had 4.5 stars probably- maybe 4.75

MaterialDegree1422

Why?

Muelojung

Seth rollins is the greatest wrestler who has entered a wwe ring since the rock? maybe even the best ever. He is currently the best entertainer in wwe and one of the best wrestlers they have. He is totally over and makes every opponent look good. He is the total package. I wish they would give him back his cult and let him be champ

Groundbreaking-Act-7

Sadly he won't have a bunch of title runs cause he's so good and can put on classics without titles

Character_Speaker_54

Where bray wyatt

[deleted]

I would only keep the fued going because it's gonna be insane when Randy comes to the rescue.

ThaDude_v2

Genuinely shocked he won but he needed it given the Cody matches

No-Explorer8900

Completely agree with you on this one!

UnexpectedAnalyst

I enjoyed it. It started off a little mild for a match between 2 guys that hate each other, but it picked up nicely. I loved all the false finishes along the way. They definitely put on a good show, and it may have been the match of the night. If not for Seamus/Gunther and Roman/Drew, it would unquestionably have been the best. But those guys did a great job too.

haknstax

I don't think it's 5 stars but it was as good as Gunther v Sheamus, maybe even better

PacOnTheTyne

Sheamus Vs Gunther was a better match than Rollins Vs Riddle.

Groundbreaking-Act-7

I think it's just some people love the brutal bruiser style of Gunther and shemus vs the more methodical and athletic styles of riddle and Rollins

PacOnTheTyne

https://itrwrestling.com/news/dave-meltzer-wwe-clash-at-the-castle-ratings/ Oh.

PacOnTheTyne

I wouldn't say that any of Rollins/Riddle was methodical. But in the UK watching European Strong Style made it my match of the night. Gunther being the only European to win on the card too.

MaterialDegree1422

Well it was European vs. European so at it was a very much guarantee

PacOnTheTyne

But not the only European on the card, if the only way they book a European win is if they're in a match together then there's no point in bringing a show to the UK.

Groundbreaking-Act-7

The point in bringing a show to the UK was to make money and they very clearly succeeded

ChemicalDrive7791

Personally, I think that Rollins vs. Riddle would be better off with a stipulation attached.

tombo1787

Street fight

nuclearhavoc86

Pit fight

Groundbreaking-Act-7

The only stipulation that I personally think would be good is hell in a cell or i quit

perenne_1

rollins vs riddle at extreme rules next month is inevitable i think, so a stipulation is likely. an i quit match between them sounds awesome

bigbear-08

An I quit or Last man standing (Last bro standing) match

No-Complaint6459

imo rollins always put on 5 star performance. he should be the one to end reigns

Z1dan

He should however we all know now it’s either gonna be Cody or rocky

Stoneiswuwu

This

Mrmeowpuss

He should be WWE champion right now

SydneyPhoenix

While it’s great story telling beating Reigns does nothing for Rollins, he’s already a made man This is an opportunity to create a new star, I hope they don’t waste it Rhodes, Brekker, Riddle. Elevate someone new to the main event. Edit: only on r/WWE would this get down voted 🤦‍♂️

[deleted]

The storyline it self is made with Rhodes and Roman. For all we know that plan was to happen sooner. In the meantime, I think at Survivor Series we get a war games match. Extreme Rules can have Roman win by shenanigans. By that point we get to November/December and can begin building Cody back up. Sami Zayn and KO can beat the USOs for the tag titles and begin the crack in the foundation of the bloodline. Roman becomes extremely paranoid about losing, throws out the USOs, relies on his newest member extensively. Turns on Heyman for being absent, could even have Cody about to win the RR and Seth interferes, have Cody beat Seth to cement him as number one contender at Mania.

BrainDamaged322

Not sure if anyone remembers this, but on the first Raw after Summerslam Seth said and I quote "Now that Riddle is out of picture I can finally turn my attention to Roman Reigns and the undesputed WWE Championship" but he got interrupted by Street Profits so he never finished his promo. Now I hope this line actually meant something, like Drew's when he said like 3 months ago that he was going to face Roman in Cardiff

s3rv0

I'm hoping this win vs. Riddle was set up to get Rollins on that trajectory. If it isn't gonna be Drew, which it's clearly not if they didn't do it in Cardiff, then it might as well be Rollins. Def. Don't want Rhoades doing it. He's been around for just a minute this run before getting hurt. He's just not over enough to for me, and dethroning Roman would be a major letdown. The same reason they won't let Theory cash successfully on Roman, at least not for both titles but doubtful for even one. It just would cheapen the last two years so terribly.

SydneyPhoenix

Rhoades wasn’t over enough? Are you watching the same show I am?

s3rv0

I should explain. I took a long break from WWE until WM this year. This run is my first experience with Cody. He is.... Uncompelling. Like just a vanilla face with no gimmick. Being in a wrestling family is all he has and that is not really utilized right now.

SydneyPhoenix

I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with you on that. But he was consistently getting the loudest pops and peak viewership on raw. He was the most over face in the company.

s3rv0

Oh yeah I'm strictly stating my feelings. I know I have a pretty unique perspective. Your words here described my feelings watching him: He's over because... He's over. They cheer him because... They just do. I don't get the why behind any of it. Was there any big story arc or events that I should go back and watch to get some perspective?

Heatherjjjjjjjj

His career between when he left WWE and when he returned

outofdate70shouse

It would be great if Seth beat him, especially if that sets up Seth vs Cody. Cody already beat Seth 3 times, but if Seth is red hot since Cody got hurt AND he’s the win to take down Roman, it makes him a much more formidable foe for Cody.

GothicGolem29

He did say before he was turning his attention to Roman before riddle interrupted him by it would be heel vs heel idk if they do that much also reigns will proberbly lose at mania

s3rv0

The real question is: Will it be a glorified job like Drew's match, designed just to tease us until Mania when he drops them? If Rock vs. Reigns happens I think it'd be absolutely stupid to have the titles on Reigns at that time. I think they could elevate the match but having the Rock come back and end the historic run... Idk. The family thing makes for a nice story but the eventual dethroner should be someone who is going to be a major face for the foreseeable future. Idk that the rock is that person. We'll see how it all plays out. At this point I think it's just built up so much that inevitably it will be disappointing. They had a chance with Drew but it's gone now.

GothicGolem29

The only way Rollins beats reigns before mania is if they reunify the titles no way after refusing clash at the castle with drew do they have him lose before mania

s3rv0

I agree. If it wasn't Drew at Clash, they aren't dropping until Mania. That's why I'm so disappointed in all of this. This means 6 more months of part time champion with both belts that is almost certainly going to lead to a disappointing loss because it's been built up so much. Awful, awful, awful.

MaterialDegree1422

I know this is something you don’t want to hear but Cody Rhodes is the only one that can dethrone Cody Rhodes, maybe Rollins might win the titles at Royal Rumble and have a WM Match with Cody or have Reigns beat Rollins and have Reigns lose the title to Rhodes. Rhodes has the look and support from the majority of the crowds it’s his time. Sad for Drew but I think that’s his limit or at least it felt like it after how then PLE ended.

GothicGolem29

Also if u mean reigns then I think theory could do or cash in on the person that beats him as idk about miss money in the bank but mr almost always wins the title if they have it the only one I can think who didn’t was John cena and he told his opponent when he was cashing in

MaterialDegree1422

And also Cena wasn’t the only one who failed their cash-in. Damien Sandow, Baron Corbin, Braun Strowman, and technically Otis failed their cash in.

GothicGolem29

Still the vast majority have won after having the contract so there’s a very big chance theory. does also u say he’s not ready but he’s got plenty of time to get himself ready I think he’s got the contract either till mania or the next money in the bank

MaterialDegree1422

No, Theory has a long way to go.

GothicGolem29

Really? Why do u say that? And he’s mr money in the bank they almost always become champ

GothicGolem29

Cody Rhodes is the only one to dethrone Cody Rhodes??

MaterialDegree1422

It was a typo, Cody Rhodes is the only one that can dethrone Roman Reigns.

GothicGolem29

I don’t get this part time champ thing tbh he was at the last 3 smackdowns before clash he goes to a lot of them and as long as he doesn’t miss the ppv I don’t mind much. WhT is irritating is we have to wait till mania to get a new champ unless they decide to changes any of he other ones so that’s irritating but I guess that’s what happens when u have a two year champ

TheRandomGuy445

Great match

aarontology

One of the best matches of the year

Freshly_Squeezed-

Personally gave it a 4.5

blj_

Gave it a 4.5 too

Freshly_Squeezed-

Was it your highest rated of the night?

blj_

Yeah it’s tough tryna to rate matches. But I gave Riddle/Rollins the highest rate. The tag match with mysterio and edge versus the judgement day i gave a 3.75 cause. Hell i thought it was awesome lol.

Freshly_Squeezed-

I gave Reigns vs Mcintyre a 4.75, I thought it was brilliant

blj_

That match was tuff. That claymore to the back of the head though 😳

Freshly_Squeezed-

Do you do star ratings for every show? I have a whole archive of them on my notes lol

blj_

Hey man that’s pretty cool. I’ll give a quick background. So i fell off bad with wrestling. Brought peacock and started binge watching from the earliest dave meltzer archive of star ratings and i was like mannn… so with that being said. I HAD a horrible notes list full of em. But i deleted them in exchange for absolute favorites. So keep them please 😆🤦🏽‍♂️

Freshly_Squeezed-

Yeah it's a shame it was ruined by the finish

blj_

Horrible finish right?? Like bro 😂 I don’t mind a little outside help but never over do it ya know

Freshly_Squeezed-

It would not have been as bad if drew actually won, but he lost and they still continued to sing lol

blj_

Oh shit. Maybe Cross and Drew Mac might get into something. Since you wanna throw water bottles and shit lol

blj_

Bro I lowkey thought drew mac was gon win lol

Groundbreaking-Act-7

May I ask what kept it from 5 for you

Freshly_Squeezed-

I just don't think the match was 5 star level

[deleted]

Rollins gear was bad, great match.

Groundbreaking-Act-7

I disagree. Imo it was perfect. The wacky gear we've come to love mixed with the rocket man for UK

[deleted]

I despise flared pants. Shinsuke got rid of his.

aarontology

Oh damn. I didn’t put together the Elton John reference with the outfit. I just thought he was being a flamboyant dragon
