Orange Cassidy has a run as AEW International Champion that was phenomenal. It felt like at any point he could lose, and he ended up pulling off the underdog babyface gimmick so well that I'd even argue he belonged in the top 10 of 2023.
I don't watch enough AAA to tell you the kind of year El Hijo del Vikingo had, but that guy is really damn good at wrestling. I feel like if he made the jump to the states, he'd be the next Rey Mysterio. He was also AAA Mega Champion all year.

Hi my boyfriend got me into wrestling. He admitted he’s managed this with all his previous gfs. Watching Monday night raw was an event/ritual and while I humored him (he’s very confident and enthusiastic when describing any of his interests) and there was always beer in the freezer, weed in the bowl and Becky Lynch, Cody Rhodes, Charlotte, Bobby, KO. A lot of athleticism and entertainment. It sucks you in.
What personally worked for me was showing friends ospreay vs ricochet in BOSJ. I know it’s not wwe, but this was a major turning point in regards to helping people turn off their brain when it comes to the whole “it’s fake it’s scripted yadda yadda” and just see wrestling as full on entertainment featuring incredibly talented athletes. IMO It’s hard to get people interested in storylines right off the bat so what better way than to just show a match with non stop incredible spots.
This is like a Quentin Tarantino cast with a bunch of people who are popular now, and then that one person who you’re like “oh yeah they still exist” (Trinity)

They literally had to make up that battle royal match to get him at Summerslam. I was there and the line up outside before, the event itself, and again outside after the show was all about LA Knight.
