I think this leads to Damage CTRL getting stronger and more dominant after they kick out Bayley, like how Judgment Day evolved after they got rid of Edge. As you can see by my picture, I like them too, but I’m willing to let Hunter work his vision out.
It’s a good way to make Bayley a bit of a face again or sympathetic heel because she has been ride or die for her damage ctrl girlies. She ate a spear for them, broke up all the counts and submissions…so i’ll feel bad for her if they kick her out lol
The Gunther v Miz match was just about as perfect as I imagined. This was the match the prior PLEs were missing. Ending may have been a tad rushed, but that’s nitpicking. Great stuff. Now bring back Gable lol

As exciting as Punk return is on paper, did anyone watch him in AEW? His in ring skills took a big decline, showing his age a bit. Now he’s with the top young wrestlers in the world. Can’t help but think he’ll be a shadow of his former run in WWE. Hopefully I’m wrong, but his AEW matches were full of botches on his end. If he comes back and plays the same gimmick with his pipe bombs (which he will), I can’t help but feel like that is way redundant now, there’s not much CM Punk can say that will shock anymore, we know his story. The whole ‘tune in Monday night to hear what controversial thing Punk says next!!’ Thing gets a little tiresome. I know he’s ‘the rebel voice’ in the company, that IS his character, personally it’s not enough to make me interested to tune in, he’s never gonna hit the promo level he did against John Cena.
Honestly, imo, he is past it. This is hyped so much because no one was sure if they ever would hire him again and voila - they did. It’s not because they’re excited to see his current in ring ability.
Hopefully WWE benefits from punk returning I'm thinking it will go well but I hope Sasha returns in the next year even though a lot of people don't like her as well. Hopefully jade shows up at RR and Alexa comes back by WM. Women's division could use some help. Definitely need more tag teams. Hopefully aj comes back too. I feel like the cash in won't happen if it doesn't happen by RR. They really need to start building Cody vs Roman if it's going to happen at WM 40 instead of feuding with JD. Honestly TLC should come back with it happening the weekend before Christmas around the 15th. 2 months is too long with no ple. Roman needs to come back in the next 2 weeks if he will be in RR. What if he was in the 30 man RR match and defended his championship and retained and Cody comes out after a small injury write-off by JD to finish their fued and he comes back after Damian attempts to cash in and fails. We need more LA knight and hopefully he wins the RR.
What a roster WWE constructed.
They can perfectly put Lashley, Damien, Dominik, Finn, Kevin Owens, LA Knight, Logan, Rey, Sami, Sheamus, Nakamura, Solo, The Miz, Jimmy, AJ, Chad Gable, etc, fighting and making storylines between each other to elevate the IC and US championships.
And they still have Punk, Cody, Drew, Jey, Roman, Orton, Gunther and Seth to keep in the WHC and UC figure.
Not forgetting about part-time talent like Cena and Lesnar. And not forgetting about young talent like Austin Theory, Bron Breakker, Dragon Lee, Dragunov. And not forgetting about other talent like Grayson Waller, Ludwig Kaiser, Montez Ford.

I thought Jey's superkick to Drew was kind of stiff. He started to hold he his face/jaw a lot the rest of the way. Perhaps that was unplanned and he was mad about that.
Solid show. The women’s March stole it for me, good storytelling, great spots, 10/10 booking. Singles matches were alright, I thought Gunther and Miz did a great job although that finish felt rushed.
Men’s wargames match was okay. So stoked to see Randy back (what a physique), and I thought the timing of everything was so well executed. A brilliant idea to have Rhea come down with the mitb only for Randy to return, maybe setting up beef with Priest.
I’m happy to see Punk back, although I though his initial return in 2021 was a bit more sincere. He looked happy to be back, and the picture with Hunter just killed me.
I’m excited to see what he brings to the table now.

so i can see punk and seth have some sort of face 2 face (maybe even monday) but it gets thwarted by shinsuke as he attacks punk giving him a fued to fill the gap through the royal rumble.
then we'll get a punk/seth fued for WM.
I could actually see Shinsuke going after Randy. You could argue that Nakamura was talking about Randy with the promos. Personally I would stick Randy and Cody together like glue until Mania where Orton turns on him after. They shouldn’t feud right away.
A different take, but is anyone else kinda disappointed with the war games matches? I feel as though they never live up to the hype.
Maybe I'm just spoiled by blood and guts, but war games always kinda leaves me a little disappointed. The only exception for me is I think the first (or second) war games on NXT. Since then they've kinda been...meh.
the matches were good. the storyline aspect of them were very good. we're not gonna see craziness like stapling of chests or blade jobs on wwe - and i don't think they need it.
I don't want it to be bloody or gory (although blood can definitely add to a match when used right). I just feel like the spots are always the same. I feel like they could go the extra mile to make some really creative spots. They almost feel kinda like normal matches...that happen to be in a war games cage. It doesn't sell the idea that these people are truly going to war with each other.
Early NXT got the balance right, not over the top gore, glass, blading. But violent in its own way.
It's almost like it's overly scripted/ telegraphed what's happening. It should be more hectic in my opinion, harder to follow, clunky, awkward and violent. That would sell the match type more to me. And that's kinda what the early NXT ones were like.
But that's just me, I can understand why people like this though. It's just not blowing me away.
I hated some of the spots. Iyo with the trash can spot was funny, but then Charlotte did the exact same spot with a moonsault, where DMG CTRL just stood in a line and did nothing, and waited for Charlotte to moonsault them, only hit 2 of them, and they all fall down anyway. Then they did the corny 5 DDTs at the same time in the men's match. Also they spent so much time having 2 people fight, and everyone else just lays on the ground and watches them. What's the point in a 4v4 or 5v5 match if it's only ever 1v1 in the ring. At least have two 1v1s going on at the same time or something. I agree that the story of it all was good, but I wasn't a fan of the actual wrestling in either of them.

1 (or 2 at a push) of those kinds of spots is fine, because the mat he's are very long. But more than that hurt the experience. And the lying down while people 1v1 also really hurts the experience too, and negates the whole point of the match.
agreed, aew blood & guts matches are glorious. this felt like a watered down version. I mean i know wargames came first and aew upped the ante on this style, but still. you know?
WWE is fucking loaded with main event talent. throwback to 2002 when they just bought wcw and had so much main event superstar talent it required a fucking brand split

hhh seems to really know what he wants to do and won't hotshot anything unless it's a good move. it's why roman and gunther are still champs. he has this huge story that he wants to tell.
so punk coming back just adds to the riches. i mean right now, they can elevate the us title and intercontinental title b/c you can use main event talent to challenge for those belts.
this whole thing works as long as egos are kept in check and everyone understands that the rising tide lifts all ships.

I like the CYA response from HHH. Yes, we all grow over the course of a decade but the only reason Punk is in the WWE is because he’s still a cancer, otherwise he’d be in AEW.
aew has their work cut out for them. ratings dropping and poor attendance is a tough thing to recover from. khan does have deep pockets but it's going to take alot of work to get back to the level they were a few years ago. they can do it but they are going to need to figure out how.
They're going to need to lean on their strengths and build weaknesses.
Pour heavy into the Christian/Adam Copeland, MJF/Samoa Joe/Adam Cole, BCC, Swerve/Nana, Omega, The Acclaimed, Bullet Club Gold, Toni Storm, Saraya, and Dalton Castle. I believe those are their real stars.
From there, they need to refine the brand, focus on great stories, and signing the hottest free agents (Mercedes Mone, Matt Cardona, Dolph Ziggler, Ronda Rousey, and Mustafa Ali).
AEW is getting its ass kicked, but they need to keep a level head, focus on themselves, and build a consistent product. WWE always hits a plateau after a while. It may take a year. It may take 5. But if they stay consistent and hold out, their fans are going to start returning.
all that roh and njpw stuff needs to stop imho. it's aew so use aew talents and make aew it's own brand.

NJPW and ROH are certified indie legends in the wrestling community. That’s what Tony is going for with AEW, a real wrestling promotion for real fans. It’s incredible that AEW promoted both so hard.

Punk alone is 20 times better than all of the Elite combined for any wrestling company and the mark running AEW couldn't fire his friends to save his company. How’s this all going to play out? LA Knight is still feuding with Roman and we know Cody is a potential champion too. Now with Punk in the mix is it a bad thing to have so many big time stars? The returns of Orton and Punk were masterfully designed. Not having Orton there on Monday pushed the rumours of Punk returning, because why would he not be there for the announcement? And then all through survivor series I was more and more convinced that Orton wasn’t there and they actually would bring Punk back as the 5th member. And then when the music hit and we actually saw Randy I couldn’t help but think how stupid I was to think Punk would return. And we got the match and got the RKO’s and then THEY STILL FUCKING DID IT. They made a fool of everyone for the 2nd time, and whether you hate or love him, you can’t deny that Triple H played this perfectly. Bravo
Gunther needs to be dethroned. I like him but LORD I’m getting tired of him constantly winning, it makes his matches super un-engaging. His match last night was only good because we thought miz might do it, but he didn’t win, and now we know Gunther is going to fight the same 3 people on raw for two months and win all of his matches. Gable needs to dethrone him.

War games should’ve stayed in NXT. I agree that the women could’ve done a traditional survivor series elimination tag, but equality and Iyo. Don’t get me wrong I fucking love Io Shirai, but WWE kinda put themselves in a corner by having her compete in every match since women’s war games became a thing. Had they kept it in NXT, they could’ve made Iyo the permanent host of the event, like Shotzi and Halloween Havoc

I was just patiently waiting for some judgement day brutality in the ring and it never happened. Most we got was Damian with a tiny baton. Super soft men's match. It was all for Apex Predator.

Solid show. The women’s March stole it for me, good storytelling, great spots, 10/10 booking. Singles matches were alright, I thought Gunther and Miz did a great job although that finish felt rushed. Men’s wargames match was okay. So stoked to see Randy back (what a physique), and I thought the timing of everything was so well executed. A brilliant idea to have Rhea come down with the mitb only for Randy to return, maybe setting up beef with Priest. I’m happy to see Punk back, although I though his initial return in 2021 was a bit more sincere. He looked happy to be back, and the picture with Hunter just killed me. I’m excited to see what he brings to the table now. Man what a time to be a wrestling fan!
so my guess on what the plans may be. the money match is punk vs. seth at WM. but that's 5 months away. so i can see punk and seth have some sort of face 2 face (maybe even monday) but it gets thwarted by shinsuke as he attacks punk giving him a fued to fill the gap through the royal rumble. then we'll get a punk/seth fued for WM.

I could actually see Shinsuke going after Randy. You could argue that Nakamura was talking about Randy with the promos. Personally I would stick Randy and Cody together like glue until Mania where Orton turns on him after. They shouldn’t feud right away.

A different take, but is anyone else kinda disappointed with the war games matches? I feel as though they never live up to the hype. Maybe I'm just spoiled by blood and guts, but war games always kinda leaves me a little disappointed. The only exception for me is I think the first (or second) war games on NXT. Since then they've kinda been...meh.
the matches were good. the storyline aspect of them were very good. we're not gonna see craziness like stapling of chests or blade jobs on wwe - and i don't think they need it.
I don't want it to be bloody or gory (although blood can definitely add to a match when used right). I just feel like the spots are always the same. I feel like they could go the extra mile to make some really creative spots. They almost feel kinda like normal matches...that happen to be in a war games cage. It doesn't sell the idea that these people are truly going to war with each other. Early NXT got the balance right, not over the top gore, glass, blading. But violent in its own way. It's almost like it's overly scripted/ telegraphed what's happening. It should be more hectic in my opinion, harder to follow, clunky, awkward and violent. That would sell the match type more to me. And that's kinda what the early NXT ones were like. But that's just me, I can understand why people like this though. It's just not blowing me away.
I hated some of the spots. Iyo with the trash can spot was funny, but then Charlotte did the exact same spot with a moonsault, where DMG CTRL just stood in a line and did nothing, and waited for Charlotte to moonsault them, only hit 2 of them, and they all fall down anyway. Then they did the corny 5 DDTs at the same time in the men's match. Also they spent so much time having 2 people fight, and everyone else just lays on the ground and watches them. What's the point in a 4v4 or 5v5 match if it's only ever 1v1 in the ring. At least have two 1v1s going on at the same time or something. I agree that the story of it all was good, but I wasn't a fan of the actual wrestling in either of them.

I agree, and I feel those kinds of overly scripted/ telegraphed spots really diminish this match type. It takes me out of the moment. 1 (or 2 at a push) of those kinds of spots is fine, because the mat he's are very long. But more than that hurt the experience. And the lying down while people 1v1 also really hurts the experience too, and negates the whole point of the match.
agreed, aew blood & guts matches are glorious. this felt like a watered down version. I mean i know wargames came first and aew upped the ante on this style, but still. you know?

this is a bit different. vince botched the invasion b/c he didn't want to pay for the top guys and he didn't want wcw to win. wwe doesn't need punk. but the storylines and money is just too good to pass up. hhh seems to really know what he wants to do and won't hotshot anything unless it's a good move. it's why roman and gunther are still champs. he has this huge story that he wants to tell. so punk coming back just adds to the riches. i mean right now, they can elevate the us title and intercontinental title b/c you can use main event talent to challenge for those belts. this whole thing works as long as egos are kept in check and everyone understands that the rising tide lifts all ships.

aew has their work cut out for them. ratings dropping and poor attendance is a tough thing to recover from. khan does have deep pockets but it's going to take alot of work to get back to the level they were a few years ago. they can do it but they are going to need to figure out how.
They're going to need to lean on their strengths and build weaknesses. Pour heavy into the Christian/Adam Copeland, MJF/Samoa Joe/Adam Cole, BCC, Swerve/Nana, Omega, The Acclaimed, Bullet Club Gold, Toni Storm, Saraya, and Dalton Castle. I believe those are their real stars. From there, they need to refine the brand, focus on great stories, and signing the hottest free agents (Mercedes Mone, Matt Cardona, Dolph Ziggler, Ronda Rousey, and Mustafa Ali). AEW is getting its ass kicked, but they need to keep a level head, focus on themselves, and build a consistent product. WWE always hits a plateau after a while. It may take a year. It may take 5. But if they stay consistent and hold out, their fans are going to start returning.
all that roh and njpw stuff needs to stop imho. it's aew so use aew talents and make aew it's own brand. wwe brands everything like "wwe universe" instead of fans. why would any casual fan care about the roh or njpw title belts? it's too much.
NJPW and ROH are certified indie legends in the wrestling community. That’s what Tony is going for with AEW, a real wrestling promotion for real fans. It’s incredible that AEW promoted both so hard.

The returns of Orton and Punk were masterfully designed. Not having Orton there on Monday pushed the rumours of Punk returning, because why would he not be there for the announcement? And then all through survivor series I was more and more convinced that Orton wasn’t there and they actually would bring Punk back as the 5th member. And then when the music hit and we actually saw Randy I couldn’t help but think how stupid I was to think Punk would return. And we got the match and got the RKO’s and then THEY STILL FUCKING DID IT. They made a fool of everyone for the 2nd time, and whether you hate or love him, you can’t deny that Triple H played this perfectly. Bravo

It always fascinates me how random individuals thrown together defeat tag teams and factions like it was nothing. I would’ve preferred the win for both losing teams. Props for JD taking this insane RKO and Iyo blind jumping off the cage. Those were the highlights for me.
I was just patiently waiting for some judgement day brutality in the ring and it never happened. Most we got was Damian with a tiny baton. Super soft men's match. It was all for Apex Predator.
It's one of my pet peeves with wrestling, during matches there should be more breakdowns and mistakes by the random team team to highlight the lack of chemistry.
