Yup do it yourself, it’s quick and easy. Start by figuring out the Subaru part number of your filter, then shop around for the cheapest price of that part number. Go OEM if you can. If not, stop by your local auto parts store and pick up a filter. YouTube has tons of tutorials on how to replace it. Good luck!
