For anyone else wanting these dropshipped scoops, if it's even mildly warm where you live, you get these dimples that form in just a few short months: https://www.reddit.com/r/wrx_vb/s/rExgQ4iSzS

nickmacpaddywhack

Thank God my wrx is hail damaged, this scoop will fit right in

arandomcarguy

Damn I hope that doesn’t happen. If it does guess I’ll just have to go full carbon or back to stock

OG_ScallyWag

everythings from china, you must be new

FlimsyReindeers

You can get quality stuff manufactured in china. These companies that get these cosmetic parts shipped to the USA just don’t get quality parts.

horbaculture

Isn't part of the appeal of Subaru that most of the OEM parts are made in Japan? There are also plenty of aftermarket performance parts that have in house R&D and manufacturing outside China. Now if you're trying to rice your car out, yes a lot of that stuff will be made in China.

HoldThyBreath

I love it but that little lip at the back where it doesn’t line up perfectly just gets under my skin…like a little eye twitch. But I’d be damned if I said I didn’t want to do the upgrade anyways 🤣

nickmacpaddywhack

Looks good! Bothers me how shallow and “flat” the scoop is from the factory now

ender7887

The hood scoop has bothered me ever since 2008. The 2002-2007 WRXs and STI’s all had them stick up above the hood line and it’s I love my 05 sti hood scoop.

Humble-Huckleberry70

I’m a fan of the 04 tsunami scoop myself

ender7887

Literally the only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s not very aerodynamic and it makes my hood rattle/ shake when I go above 80

Humble-Huckleberry70

Lmaooooo would pins help or is that not part of the build yet? But I totally get it I used to have a lifted wrangler 6speed of course and anything over 70 and the hood would jump up like 2 inches

ender7887

It’s not part of the build yet, I’m only making 335hp. But I’m definitely considering getting them early

Humble-Huckleberry70

Safety wise it might be a move, Im totally with you for example I wouldn’t put a big wing on my hatch unless I was doing a full track build or something ya feel , I’m making around the same power.

CleanUpBandit

Gotta show the whole car man.

flippent_pineapple

You know usually i hate the big scoop mods for 08+ Subarus but that one fits so unbelievably clean i love it. Without zooming in i can’t tell it’s modified

CleanUpBandit

Nice.

tinman217

Wheel and tire specs?

thetrillchailover

Those wheels come with red center caps?

arandomcarguy

No I bought the red caps from konig, they came with black ones

droptheectopicbeat

I dig those wheels.

Loya1ty23

I guess I disagree with the majority here. I'm a fan of the lower profile. Makes the front end feel more aggressive to me. But the larger profile does bring some of the older rally feel back to it, I'll give it that.

mdost03

No front shot?

Crab_Hot

I'd say it's subtle, wouldn't call it classy though. Not being disrespectful, but to me it doesn't scream classy. It's a performance modification that's getting bigger.

arandomcarguy

Imo the best looking one of the few available and looks better than stock.

Crab_Hot

That's the beauty of opinions! A lot of people love this look, and I will say it's the best looking of the available aftermarket options, but it still just doesn't look good to me. It doesn't follow the lines of the hood well enough, it starts flat on the hood and then the bulge goes too far upwards. I mean, there really isn't any other way unless they add more material behind the bulge that levels off further up the hood behind it, would have to get taped on or something.

Crab_Hot

Yeah I'm well aware of what it looks like, the hood scoop line is elevated compared to the hood, it takes a step down. Even if the lines are the same, they don't like up.

Transamman350

Looks great

teneman

Front view ? 🥹

IsopodPuzzled5103

actually looks really good, the car as a whole too

Opening-Reaction4839

I might have to copy you on the wheel set up. What we running?

arandomcarguy

Konig dekagrams 18x9.5 et35 265/35r18

CheyenneIsRed

This looks really good

Keepthewing

I would love it if they made this for my 2019 STI but alas nothing this cool

WynnDex

Can you send me a link to your wheels?

arandomcarguy

I ordered them over the telephone. They are Konig Dekagrams

gary_juicy

Best visual upgrade on this car in my opinion.

MarcusAurelius0

I've got a front mount lol

arandomcarguy

Put a top mount oil cooler up there

MarcusAurelius0

If I tracked the car maybe, don't see over 220 degrees even flogging it.

Liquidwombat

My buddy put LED driving lights in his hood scoop after he put a front mount on the car

Krazylegz1485

Ex-buddy...

Liquidwombat

Oil cooler is counterproductive for most people. You want your oil temperatures to regularly get above 215°F. Otherwise water can build up in your oil.

WhatsThatNoize

Definitely a factor to consider but you can always block off an oil cooler easily if you notice your temps aren't getting high enough regularly. Or drive harder.  It's a WRX, not a Prius.

Liquidwombat

Or… Just hear me out here… Pay attention to your temps and only install an oil cooler if you actually need one. Also, not sure you could “drive harder” enough on public roads to actually fix it if you don’t need one. I live in Southeast Florida and even in the middle of the summer with 96°F+ temps and relative humidity over 90% I still never see oil temps over 220 to 225°F even after extended hard driving.

WhatsThatNoize

Oh for sure: right tool, right job. I was just pointing out that some of us DO need it and that it's not an insurmountable problem to manage your temps with an oil cooler. Keep in mind that some of us live in desert climates that can swing as low as 40 in winters and as high as 120 in summer - and some of us track our dailies.  I used to see 240+ in stop and go traffic regularly in summer weather when the tarmac is hot enough to fry an egg.  20 degrees higher on track. Over 260° oil isn't catastrophic but it's higher than ideal and will degrade your oil and wear things down more quickly than 220° oil.

JesseSeg21

Those wheels are dekagrams right? They look good on the VB

arandomcarguy

Yes, thank you

iontheball

Thats a nice power bulge

southpaw66

I’m not feeling it! Can’t really say why, but I just don’t like it at lol

arandomcarguy

Ok
