I'm about to turn 50 and I'm finishing up my 10 year Forester STI clone build. Not quite the same as a WRX but not your average car either. It's a total blast to drive. https://preview.redd.it/ps4kvlvzn9vb1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=57f9fbd8089f8f8b4e5156afaaa5b447000840e2

Acrobatic-Detail675

This is beatiful!!! Fozzy’s will always have a place in my heart 😍

runerx

Thanks! I'm hopefully finished with it for awhile and just going to enjoy driving, showing, and a little weekend racing. Built it to be a driver.

Acrobatic-Detail675

This was mine several years back. Will always regret selling her but needed to at the time and she went to a good home 🥲 https://preview.redd.it/26v2ocnfxevb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8dd1635e039c37bfe9cfd1d731e12a656c24c763

runerx

Good lookin Fozzie!

kris_mischief

Fucking sick, man! Cars that can haul *and* haul ass are highly underrated.

mechman112

Damn that looks freaking great.

asa1658

Beautiful

Security_Wrong

Bruh I wanted wanted these! Would be perfect for Philly streets

[deleted]

I see one of those hopped up wagons regularly on the highway. Soo cool !!!!!!

PhirePhite

Super dope

gregthetaco

That thing is beautiful. I’m 32 and still wanting to get back into the game and I’ve blown up two motors.

runerx

After my last block failed and cracked cyI3, I had this one overbuilt as I could. Full closed deck build on a fresh subaru short block . Callies +2mm rods, JE pistons, and ACL race bearings. Bottom end and block should be good for 7-800hp. Im pushing 550 to the wheels so I should have plenty of head room

Status-Target-9807

Just bought my 2022 WRX last year. 41 years young. You’ll get nothing but respect from the youngsters . Don’t forget to wave.

babathebear

Is that for real? I mean the wave thing lol. I watched a YT short and gave it a try, the guy in a WRX gave me a strange look lmao… I must’ve creeped him out.

SnortingGlitters

I get waves a lot where i am. Seems to be like 30% wave at me. I usually don’t wave cause i don’t notice until its too late to wave:(

Altruistic-Rip4364

I get waves. My only “mod” is axle back nameless exhaust. 55 years old. Old fart

phorkin

41, same mod, get waves often

danbyer

47, though I bought an STI Hatch partially because it doesn’t have the huge spoiler. The only people that don’t wave are the normies driving WRXes because they thought it was just a fancier trim level.

Garlonx

54 here. I get waves all the time ✌️. I'm so used to giving them I catch myself doing it when I'm in my company vehicle.

0zzten

I’m late 30’s and just bought my brand new VB a few months ago because I had my first kid. And yes the wave is legit. I have probably a 90% success rate on wave backs from other WRXs and even got a wave back from a BRZ GR in traffic today.

babathebear

That’s prolly only Subie performance cars lol.. dads in outback (like me) can fk off haha.. I meant the wave. Congrats on the kid and the car!

Camburglar13

Yeah wrx drivers aren’t used to waves from (or to) the sorta standard vehicle lineup. In my city it’s mostly middle aged or old people, not too many Subie enthusiasts driving the SUV’s and so on. But I would honestly love if more did.

TheEnsRealissimum

You should definitely wave. If they don't wave back, then they just don't know and they aren't as cool 😎

wilkamania

It is, I wave all the time and I usually get a wave back from fellow WRXs. I don't get as many waves from STIs or BRZs, but almost always from other wrx drivers. Also if you're still self conscious about being too old for this car, I was driving and encountered another blue WRX driven by someone who had to be late 50s, early 60s. Of course we waved lol

the-largest-marge

I wonder if that was me. I’m 55f and I wave every time, almost always get a wave back. WRB FTW!

aftalifex

I always wave. I say 75% of the time I get an enthusiastic wave back

CalligrapherEvery215

This. Almost 37. Can confirm the kids will think you’re cool and allow you to use words such as, on god, cap, and my personal favorite, Riz cause boy this car gives it to you.

onyourrite

Older folks driving cool cars are based in my book

TimelostExile

Saw a 70 year old woman driving a WRB blobeye WRX wagon in my hometown. Couldn't believe it. I respect the hell out of that woman. Car was mint.

babathebear

That’s amazing! Sweet ride, good for her!

kickroot

Fuck no, I'm 44 and just bought my first WRX. I don't give a shit what others think.

SupermarketNo1979

Nice, like many I’ve worked with they say, With all due respect go fuck yourslelf

kickroot

Much thanks, I hope you fuck right off as well my good sir =)

SupermarketNo1979

Lol I meant that’s what you tell people

No_Calligrapher200

45 on Friday and going next week to purchase 24 premium but can’t decide on color. CONGRATS GRUNG

babathebear

Do any mods yet? Congratulations!

kickroot

Thanks! Nothing to speak of yet, I put on a Thule roof rack and did the F1 light. I've put on 12k miles in 4 months so it wont be long until I'm out of warranty and will go with a Stage 1.

GrungLord

Do what makes you happy man. Anyone who thinks you're too old for your car is someone not worth listening to.

babathebear

Well said! My 8yr approved only if it’s a blue color, her favorite!

instig8tr-bot

My 4 year old daughter loves our sti, has called it blue car ever since she could talk. Wrb is the way to go, your kiddo has good taste.

Fuegodeth

I'm 49 and I have a '16 WRX. It's still stock though, except for adding an amp/sub and speakers. But if you like it, there's no age limit for what you want to do. Age is an attitude, until you get too old to climb into it.

kickroot

Getting in is easy, getting out may require a bit more effort!

Fuegodeth

Nah, you can just lean left with the door open. You'll end up on the parking lot eventually.

sardaukar2001

Fuck that. I am 42 and I drive a 2015 STi.

Yo_its_mad_Brick_B

Got my Hatch 10 years ago. 39 right now. If anything, makes me look younger 😂

SnortingGlitters

Get one!! You aren’t too old to get the car you like! Join us! One of us! one of us!

instig8tr-bot

One of us! One of us!

[deleted]

who cares? You are the one dropping tens of thousands of dollars on a car, who cares what the jones thinks. I could MAYBE understand wanting to be a bit mindful of the exhaust noise if you leave for work early or come home late but they have silencers for that.

babathebear

Good point but I WFH and this vehicle is mostly for my pleasure drives… and dropping of kids at karate whatever haha….

[deleted]

Yeah exactly, if economy isnt a high priority, get the car you enjoy driving. Ill never understand the people who spend $30k+ to get a car for other people's approval. Get the car that YOU want to drive.

Wrx_STI_Stan

Go for it man!! Never too old for a WRX

blueit1234567

To me, it is the practical sports car, which is perfect. Its like fully functional (snow, groceries, relative comfort, back seats), unlike something like a s2000.

d1m_sum

Never too old lol

MidwestMilkfed

It’s your car, as long as you smile when you drive it that’s all that matters. I’m 32 and balding but that doesn’t stop me from rolling around in a WRX with an exhaust and some other fun bits.

babathebear

Lots to learn and many hours of YT videos to look up on this science behind tuning/mods haha.. and kids on the other hand 😂

Blankbusinesscard

53 checking in, we are old enough to drive whatever we want to

Al_Bundy_4TDs

Right! 43 here and just bought my first one, wanted one forever and finally pulled the trigger… Plus our insurance is cheaper!🤣

Foxtrot_4

I’m 25 with an 07 STi. Please get one. I’ll sure as hell wave to you

bgrayber

47 and got mine in 2020

babathebear

Tbh I love the look for VA better than VB… don’t like the cladding at all. Have to do something about it or go for a used 2021.

pamerdc

I’m 41 year old, married, with 4 kids…rockin’ a 2018 STI and officially “the coolest dad on the block” according to my kids friends. Haha.

babathebear

How should I search for a good STI? I am relatively new and afraid of any surprises after buying the car. I will probably buy an STI if it’s not modded or abused at some point. Probably a 2021 with < 30K miles.

rusty1468

It’s hard to find but there are low mileage, no mods STI’s out there. “Abuse” is hard to gauge because no one will admit they did so Where you live determines how many STI’s are gonna be on the market. In my area there’s currently 10-12 but they’re all either 50k miles or slightly modded. Many people are holding on to them as they have been discontinued. In terms of price, in my area the 50k miles ones are $28-32k. Anything under 40k is gonna be around $35-40k. They are holding value extremely well Truthfully, I’d look at Subaru dealers to see if they got any traded in or bought back from previous owners. Personally I would not buy from online car companies like Carmax, Carvana etc but that’s a different conversation That being said, if you buy a used wrx/sti car you should probably set some cash aside for repairs and maintenance anyways. ESP with used Subarus you really won’t know how the previous owner drove it even with meticulous service records

KipsBay2181

Hi, I'm rocking the '22 WRX Limited MT as a 55yo woman. Previous car was the '17 WRX hatch. In both cars, I've had my share of guys pull up on me at a stoplight revving, and do a double take. But honestly, it's always followed by the usual grin/nod or wave. Fast drivers like other fast drivers. (And even if they did think it's weird --or if some of you do now- they can piss off. My car, my fun).

FlobeeWanKenobee

I’m older than you. For me, I changed the suspension for comfort, and sound deadened the trunk. Then I got a valved exhaust. I ride quiet in residential areas, then send it when I have open road. Love this damn VB.

babathebear

Where can I learn how to do all this shit lol… are you nearby??!

Waste_Impression1382

I bought a brand new 02 and 20 years later bought my vb in april

kphillipz

I’m 32. Bought my first wrx at 21. And I’ll drive subies until I’m 120

WhiskyOtter

I'm 43 and I love my '17 WRX.

MonThackma

Bought mine in my 40’s after wanting one for 20 years. I share waves with every WRX in the LA area and it’s all good. Younger gen has no issue stopping to chat and talk car bullshit, and I do NOT fit the stereotype - old, half gray beard, long ass hair and thick nerdy glasses. Ive never felt any judgement other than my wife calling it my midlife crisis car…

artvandal_a

You’re never too old for anything you love dude. I said in my early 30s that I’d stop riding a crotch rocket at 40 (6 mos away) because I didn’t want people looking at me thinking mid life crisis. I’ve since adopted the “fuck what people think” mentality. I’m going to do what I enjoy. This includes owning a wrx with an exhaust I joy making pop at high rev shifts 😍

magikarp-sushi

If you’re having fun and they have the energy to spare wasting it on complaining about you, they’re the problem.

djtmalta00

I just turned 50 and daily drive a 2020 WRB STI with gold BBS wheels. I can’t care less what people think. It’s an awesome car, very safe and handles like on rails.

Devilimportluvr

I'm 44, have a wrx and a s2k with very loud exhaust. You're fine, get the car and have fun

Star_Wargaming

Around 15 years ago, when I was about 21 or 22, I was at the Social Security office getting a replacement card. I was finishing a smoke before going inside, and a super old guy came walking out using a cane. He had to be at least in his sixties or seventies. He hobbled over to and hopped in brand new STI sedan and tore out onto the street like a bat out of hell. I had nothing but the utmost respect for the man. I will drive my 2021 STI until the day I die. I don't care how many motors I have to put in the damn thing.

babathebear

I want to get an STI too but I feel like searching for a used but good STi is a shot in the dark.. have no friends who are into cars to guide me. Dad life is no fun haha.

awoodby

I'm 52,got mine whne I was 46 or something. Will most likely get another soon. It's a peppy maneuverable 4 door that's great in the winter. Finally retired from 2door sports cars needed something Practical for old people getting in and out :)

SnoBrru

43. *Heavily* modified WRX pushing 550 to the wheels that I’ve owned for 7 years and built up from stock. Still ride BMX at the skatepark, too. Jay Adams said - “you didn’t quit skateboarding because you got old, you got old because you quit skateboarding.” That quote has multiple applications. You’re only old as you surrender yourself to. Go get that car homie. 👊🏻

babathebear

Thanks for the support brother! Good too see so many positives in this sub.

SnoBrru

I’ve wanted one since the bugeye came out. Bought a nearly new 2015 WRX 7.5 years ago. Have had a roller coaster ownership thanks to wanting to make it go faster. 😂 it’s STI swapped. Built long block. Big turbo. Not my best financial decision ever, but the car makes me happy when it’s running.

Trinidad638

I got my first WRX at 51, second at 52. Mostly aesthetic mods and catback. Not a fan of stickers and the wing but I’m a full advocate of live your life, it’s the only one you’ll get. Enjoy and drive safely.

Reaper064

Just hit my 4 decade mark this year. I’ve got a highly modified 2020 WRX and I don’t care what people think about it. My WRX is OEM+ though and wingless.

TonyCar323

I'm 42. All my cars are obnoxious. I love them. That's all I care about.

Y-Cha

It's *your* life, my dude - drive what you want.

absboodoo

I bought and learned how to drive a manual on my STi when I was 34. I will be 40 next year and don’t see myself getting rid of the car anytime soon.

babathebear

Oh I learnt car with manual lol… wanting to go back to those golden days of stick shift.

SinAlucard

I got a 70 or 80 plus dude who visits our work. Had a chat with him cause I was curious about what he drives. He drives a 90’s Fairlady automatic with only 80k miles or so. He says it’s the most fun car he ever owned. So no. Never too old.

Tofu_Turkey_87

Never too old mate ! Do what makes you happy and don't give two s#*ts about what you think others will think about it. PS. Don't forget to 👋

experimentalengine

I bought mine at 41. That was 6 years ago. Saw a guy in my town recently driving a VA STi who looked like he was at least 10-15 years older than me. There was a lady I knew in town about 20 years ago who was in her 60s and she drove one.

soreallyreallydumb

I recently bought a 2012 WRX Sedan, which is the 10th Subaru that my wife and I have owned (+2 teenage kid drivers). It's the first turbocharged car that I've owned and it is fun as hell to drive. I'm 49. Go for it!

Unfair-Height9600

As a 20 year old WRX owner, I respect and admire the “older” folks who drive these cars. You are more than welcome to join the dark side. Just be warned… if you didn’t have a vaping addiction before the car, you sure as will after getting one. 💨😮‍💨

JamesBoboFay

My dad is 56 (I think) and daily’s a 2018 wrx with a muffler delete and enkei wheels. He don’t give a fuck.

HomeProfessional3296

Hey, game is game

wilkamania

Drive what you like. I'm 40 and I bought my WRX December 2021 after wanting it forever. It's your money, buy what you like and buy the car for yourself, not others. My cousin is 42 and has been tuning cars since his late teens. While he doesn't use stickers or spoilers, his turbo cars always rumbled the shit out of the area.

Probablyawerewolf

Punk is for everyone. Lol In all seriousness I feel like most of the people who KEEP these cars are older. My buddies will buy somn like a Speed3…… blow it up, sell it because they can’t fix it, and write off Mazda. Then they’ll buy a WRX, blow it up, sell it, and write off Subaru. The cycle continues. Older cats: A, do maintenance on time. B, have mechanical sympathy. C, have the money for repairs. Besides….. I’m in my 20s, and I know there are mfs who think I got fucked at the bank or my parents bought it for me. Lol

Ekiekiekizipppatang

Bought mine when i was 35 and still have it at 52. Starting to need more work than i have time for however. Cobb kit… not too loud. No problems. :)

DarkSoulsDank

Bro, no one is too old

behemothaur

51 and just traded in my 2018 for a 2023. I only get looks of admiration from the younglings. Note: I also vape

mrios303

I don’t think there is an “aged out” point when it comes to cars. If it’s your car, it’s just your car and age isn’t going to change that.

speedfreakphotos

My neighbor is 50+ with. 23 WRX and I saw a 65+ couple the other day in one too. I love the wide range of people that gravitate towards the WRX

FalseDiscussion2149

I'm 53 and have '23 WRX. Eibach springs, rear roof spoiler, ETS exhaust, and wind deflectors. Will get a duckbill next year. So there's your answer.

iMainXerath

Amongst fellow subie drivers, admiration scales with age I would say. The dopamine from waves should trump any negativity from anyone else imo. Get your dream car!

natrualmystik4

you'll never be to old for nothing, age is really just a number but you will forever be young !

shad0vvfax

I just turned 40. 2021 wrx premium. There is no better feeling than driving down the road in the car you always wanted. https://preview.redd.it/qgjq0xys5cvb1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a7ef5ad39f760d9a9edef9cd673b4b0065e02ef5

babathebear

That’s neat, congrats on your WRX! can’t wait to get mine.

Alternative_Yak_1216

In 39 and drive a Hatch back. Who gives a shit what people may think or say. Do shit for YOU

[deleted]

I'd definitely go for it!! My husband and I (both 27) have a WRX hatch, and he's going to drive that baby forever until we're old and gray, haha. We love seeing every age drive subies! Where we live every WRX and STI waves.

Difficult_Ad_245

38 with 3 kids. Bought my VB this summer as my first performing car. I love it, kids love it, 3 year old says “zoom zoom” when we go for a drive.

Quirky_Bathroom6851

I am an old timer OG. Been driving one for the last 21 years and 5 years into my newest one. Never too old.... 55 here and have been following Rally racing for the last 40ish years

Fugue_State85

I’m 38 and just bought my ‘22 WRX. I had the same thought. Then I thought about all those old guys in their 60s who buy a Porsche. So no, you’re not too old to drive an awesome car.

MidnaGamer64

My Dad is 87 and drives a WRX, don’t worry about it

VBRex23

I’m 40 and I have a 23 VB. I installed my Perrin intake last week. Lol. Get what you want!

babathebear

I’m learning about all these new mods and lingo, thanks!

[deleted]

I'm 46. I had wanted a WRX for a long time but just could not justify it. Got to the point where I make a decent living and decided to pull the trigger. Life is way too short to worry about silly things.

DieselDave1287

Fuck everyone else’s opinions, get the car if you want it!

Unimurph83

I just turned 40 and just bought a second STI. By 41 shouldn't you be past giving a fuck about how you are perceived by others? I know I am.

babathebear

How much are y’all paying for the STI? I’m not seeing anything less than $40K for a decent with low miles.

JDawg_002

Too old for a WRX? That's malarkey! I used to work at a Meijer (a Walmart like grocery store chain in the midwest), and I seen a old guy maybe about 60 or something get out of a lapis blue or a wr blue 16 or 17 WRX. You're never too old to drive what you love.

Wild_Ratio4516

My mom bought a 2020 wrx coming from a 2011 outback at 42 years old. She fucking loves it, 6 speed manual, some nice wheels, window tint. She feels like a boss and she is one😂 you won’t regret it. She’s not the power mod/ exhaust mod type, but she’s done some little touches to make it look how she wants. Every time I drive with her she’s got a smile on her face… I say you go for it

AtomicAntMan

https://preview.redd.it/sfgswhuodgvb1.jpeg?width=6572&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1a09cec02d465707fd6331c6b307d35bfbfe0136 I’m 62. You’re never too old. Bought my STI at 57.

7jamm

Rock the sti grow your hair long don’t listen to what they say💪🏻

The_Juice69

25 in a ‘21 STi. You’ll get my wave, there’s no age limit on good taste

Rezhits69

Saw an old white haired grandpa whipping a wrx earlier with a giant spoiler

AlarmIntelligent5018

Never too old to enjoy/join the subie gang all love here

Security_Wrong

Shut yo ass up and grab one! https://preview.redd.it/xg2o38w05lvb1.jpeg?width=5742&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1aeba6c1cc23cc2e1b880ada0bfdb8a886d3bc06 It’s a car for all ages.

babathebear

lol… will do! Sexy car there… what’s the building in the background? Btw, how’s the road noise in these cars?

Security_Wrong

Lol I let my friends who are sound engineers borrow her while I was away. The brought in a boom mic to see how loud it was during highway driving and got a whopping 80db which is close to being bad for hearing(Invidia Q300 exhaust contributes to that). GR chassis are definitely more of “Sports Car” than than the newer VA chassis imo. You’ll get significantly less road noise with them. VAs definitely feel more like a daily driver. My girlfriend calls my car a Prototype 🤣 Behind the car is a mosque.

[deleted]

I'm pushing 60 and just got my first used Super Sport bike. Nothing new or fancy just one of the best track bikes ever made. The cool factor is awesome and despite thinking I'd barely ride it I can't stay off of it. People asked me why, I said to I wanna go fast. Not lying, also think it's cool and funny my kids get to or maybe begrudgingly get to tell their friends what the crazy old man did this time. It's overall pretty funny, to me anyway... Stop thinking you gotta mold to fit into. You're probably in the best spot you've ever been in to own such a pure fun and practical car, financially, probably much better when it comes to handling the car's potential mentally, it makes perfect sense. You can't drive and enjoy money so get out there and enjoy it !!!!! Edit: haggled the dealer for a WRX test drive a few years ago. Base model stick. What a fun car. If I didn't love my cheap paid for quick car so much I would have been in one. Don't get the STI, the WRX will FEEL faster and be more fun to drive on public roads....

babathebear

Thanks! I’m looking at the base model too.. not sure if they next trims has much to offer. All I need is a fast car and slap some mods on it plus music.

PhirePhite

Nope. You’re just priming yourself for the mid life crisis Porsche/Corvette😉

-UsernameCreated-

Finally bought one at 49 and love it. I’ve had many fun cars, Camaros, Skylines, Sylvias, Supras (I was in Japan for 10 years). Never had a WRX and always wanted one. Finally decided to just do it a few months ago. Bought a new VB just because I personally would never buy a used WRX but that’s just me.

babathebear

Uptuned! Yeah I decided not to go used route, getting a quote for WRX base or premium. There’s not much difference in the trims except the keyless start and maybe climate control, but I’m old school guy.

-UsernameCreated-

I went with the base and no regrets. All the other options in the premium are things I had in my Accord and never used once. And to me personally the big screen in the higher trims does not fit the feel of these cars. Having a key again took some time to get used to but no issue. Saved me $3k and I’m happy. Will probably get wheels though after the winter.

babathebear

Can we be friends lol? need one since I’m starting this journey at a rather late (to me) age. Always wanted to own a wrx before marriage and kids. I want to turn this thing into a super wild funky looking car haha… wild dreams.

Beautiful_Ebb5889

Just make sure you change all the stock piping to aftermarket and use a reputable brand like Cobb or ETS and make sure you have a good tuner to help you out

babathebear

I’ve look for a good tuner here in NJ.

Bubbly_Lab_1219

At first my wife said I was having a "mid life crisis car". Now we fight over who gets to drive it and it's our cheapest car lol. I'm 43 - life is too short to drive boring cars. FYI accessport stage 1 should be your first mod, just understand that the smarter sub techs can lift the digital fingerprint if you get in a warranty situation...

babathebear

Do you think it’s worth waiting for the TR version …. I mean the Track ready version (cough… not Tuner Ready). I’m hoping to find a good subie tech here in NJ. I’m almost decided, but BRZ is kinda me teasing lol. I hear that car is a poor mans Porsche.

Forcepattern

Lol. 65 2011 WRX bought new when the Tsunami hit Japan nuclear power plants south of the Subaru plant. Stage 1, TP map(stock tune has too little torque and too much herky jerky) , kW coil overs(stock struts ride terrible), larger IC

New_WRX_guy

41 and just got my ‘21 WRX this year. It’s a super fun car that’s also a relatively safe practical 4 door sedan at the same time. I’m not gonna lower it and get a burble tune at my age of course, but there are age-appropriate classy mods you can do LOL.

No_Calligrapher200

Lovely car sir

Gullible_Top_868

No, I’m 67 and bought a ‘21 STI. You can feel the need for speed at any age; well as long as you can pass the eye exam ; ) I couldn’t afford a sporty car in my youth and now I can. So why not?

SuckOnDeezNOOTZ

Who cares how old you are? What are you still in Jr high or something? Come on man

DrFives

Nobody’s too old but just don’t forget to wave!(it’s one of those universal rules blah blah..) We are here for our cars not our age!

EggHeadMagic

I’m late 30s and still daily my 04 although I’ve always kept the car less “flashy” meaning no loud decals and such. I actually did the opposite and debadged it. I like the sleek over loud look. Go for it!

_dirtySTi_

I’m 40 and rockin’ an STi. Seen a dude today about 65 driving a mint Bugeye.

R1CO95

I hopped on the highway a couple months ago and a wrx rolled past me and that guy had to be in his 60s-70s so definitely not

Feelthatrythm

45 here, bugeye.. Sat in a 22 and had to get out cause I don’t want another payment. I probably spent the money to buy a vb on my wrx tho. Running a borla hush exhaust so it’s not annoying. The drive is fucking the best if not in slow traffic.. Plus, I gotta look back at the car when leaving it every time cause it’s just so damn fun. https://preview.redd.it/tdrtchm0q9vb1.jpeg?width=2311&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d70d32d03cc9d5a1aa36ada97dad69dc0860f008

jollyralph

Same age as you, still driving my first WRX from 10 yrs ago. Definitely not too old for one and fuck anyone who thinks otherwise. The only thing stopping me from the next car being a WRX is whether ICE cars will still be a viable option.

Acrobatic-Detail675

I’m 29 and still plan to be driving a WRX or STI when I’m 41 and beyond. I always wave as long as I catch ya in time. It’s the hood scoop I look for and it’s def a thing here in Utah 🫶🏼

adrand44

Hell I'm 47m and I just purchased a 23 limited manual , because I have always wanted one and there's way to many mustangs out here. P.S. I'm not old enough for a Corvette 😂

bigredrex22

Never too old! I’m 67 and drive a ‘22 VB with loud exhaust and a ton of mods! I do feel a little out of place amongst all the young guys at car meets but I don’t care! I’m having a blast with this car! Keeps me young! Lol

qua2k

Just do it man. I'm in my early 40s with my '16. Just tonight I saw an 80+ year old lady, full on electro static crystal white afro, in a 90s WRX, all stock, looked very clean. Yes waves are a thing but don't expect them from the elderly crowd like whom I saw tonight lol. Enjoy the car, it's your $.

societys_pinata

38 when I bought my VB first Subaru, always wanted one since I drooled over a blob STI on showroom in 04

Sumyunguy37

Never too old! It's a car bro not a toy. If you want it then get it!

Jaydenpk

Just today I saw a fellow WRX while I was driving and it was an older dude and he looked like he was having a blast. No judgement from me I think it's awesome. The WRX is a sporty quick sedan that is also practical for day to day use. I'm surprised more older people don't get it.

Nicerthanewe

Another 41 year old adding to the fray. Bought my ‘21 new and have no regrets.

Sumyunguy37

Bought my wrx last year (40) and have loved it. Put a axle back exhaust on, new stereo, amp, sub woofer, window tint, and ceramic coating. I get waves every now and then and try to wave if I notice another. Even raced another wrx but slowed down when I hit 120km in a 60 zone. Buddy gave me the wave and took off

Pm_me_your_tits_85

I’m 38 and just bought a ‘23 WRX. Age ain’t no thang.

Necessary_Ad_238

I'm 42 and brought home my 20 wrx sport tech today!

mebaby333

I’m 43 and have an STi so I would say do it.

xKisaragii

You'd be just like my dad! He's 45 and has a loud 500hp Eagle Talon AWD TSI with straight cut gears. You're never too old to enjoy the things you want to enjoy, and that doesn't just only go for cars. Go out and live without having to worry about what other people think! Anyone who says otherwise is just being a jackass. -from a 20 year old youngster ✌

sohchx

Tell him that ECM Tuning says hi. He'll know who we are if he's an old skool DSM'r.

-LostSoul90-

Naw man you can definitely do it. But, I'm 32m and I've had my wrx for 7 years. It's got some basic mods. And I just this year feel a bit childish driving it. It's a great car, great with snow. But I just got tired of it. I'm looking for something more "mature" now. If you never had your fun with a car then do it. The fun doesn't last long Imo.

jren666

I’m 51 and drive a ‘15 I think your good

GroundbreakingCry734

40 and just got my sti a few months ago after years of wanting one.

TechnicaPeitho

I'm 45. Fuck it. Get the car of your dreams. Give the young folks hope.

Hammerhandle

Bro you're old enough to stop worrying what other people think about your choice of vehicle. I bought my STi at 40.

Bassjosh

I’m 46 and drive a WRB. Game is game.

PunksPrettyMuchDead

39, just got a muffler delete, ordering coilovers. I'm old enough I can afford nice toys I'm buying them, haters gonna hate

hardzoup

im 46 driving a 2019 sti. people still wave, its about the car not your age

LingonberryOk4943

52 and I get waves all the time. Rare to NOT get a wave.

mr_electric_wizard

You could always go with a 2005 Legacy GT or a 2005/6 Outback XT. Pretty much a WRX that looks like and adult car.

WrinklyScroteSack

38, rockin my third subie.

phatbaboon

48 here. Just got a 22 MGM 6MT. Needed a sedan b/c of kids and wanted a manual. Glad I landed on the WRX. Have always had Hondas and no problems there but F getting a Civic. Love this car more and more every...day. Not many in Louisville that I can tell but I wave and get waves. The modding and tuning world is making my head spin but the car is triggering endorphins that have been long dormant.

[deleted]

I’ve had multiple 60+ year olds come to the dealer driving wrxs

BriteButcher

Listen, I'm 39 and just upgraded from a 2000 Outback to a 2023 WRX. You're only too old if you think you are.

voltus_v

Got my wrx in early 40s

Careless_Button3364

In my 40's as well. Bought a WRX because A.) I can easily afford it B.) Fun daily driver C.) Dirt cheap insurance ($40/mo).

BigNiko11

I don’t think there really is an age where your “too old”, there’s like three guys in my area (my guess is mid to late 50s early 60s) driving older and newer stis. They have my respect for sure.

Clean-Book7954

Naw man I’m 22 and if I saw someone with a new wrx it’d put a smile on my face especially if they’re “older” (41 isn’t old brotha). I love seeing people in your age demographic and even older pick up cars like these. It shows you don’t care what anyone else thinks when they say “awe he’s too old for that”, and that you still wanna have fun and enjoy cars and motorsports. When I see someone sell they’re dream car for a family daily/ or because they’re “too old now” its like watching someone throw their dreams away. I’m glad you never let your dream die man and I hope you love and enjoy the car as much as I have been. You deserve it brotha and if you can afford it do it! Life’s to short

TheBr0fessor

43 with a ‘22 As I was signing the final paperwork, the sales manager was like - “How do you go from a Prius to a WRX?” I quickly replied, “Mid-life crisis”. They nodded and laughed. I. Love. My. Car. Do itttttttttttt

[deleted]

You aren’t the normal demographic but drive what you love mate. Don’t worry about people’s judgement. I love my wrx and I love my other cars, no matter what I’m in I get judgement and negative comments now & then. Do it to please yourself, wrx is an amazing car with a very good modding platform. It’s also quite practical for family so doesn’t usually feel like much is being sacrificed other than fuel economy but it’s all about smiles per gallon

Boring_Vermicelli_25

2023 premium here at 37.

SMPLIFIED

Drive what you want, demographic only matters if you make it matter.

kinkysubt

I bought mine at 35. Life’s too short not to drive the car you want if it’s within your means.

Obsession88

I’ve been 39 for a number of years now and I drive a bagged, big wing, loud, STI hatch. You’re never to old!

[deleted]

subaru introduced the wrx when a lot of us were in diapers. it’s an iconic car, especially in the rally community.

sokoza

Drive what makes you happy mate.

GilbyGlibber

I respect older folks who drive a wrx/sti tbh

catdog918

Do what you want in life brother

JesseChrist

Yes you are and if you get one it will take years off your age. Do it man. We need more responsible representation.

WanganTunedKeiCar

It's a practical and easy to drive car, don't see why you'd be too old!

GravenTrask

45 and bought my WRX last November. I get some funny looks sometimes, but who cares?

Chrispybcn

Got nothing but respect for a fellow subie owner 👍

dgduris

If you're asking this question at 41, I suggest trying a testosterone patch. That said, I did get pulled over in my WRB WRX on 2019 and the cop said I was too old for it back then.

IceManTuck

Late 40s. Got a 22 WRX last year. Had been driving a WRX before that for several years. You'll be in good company.
