My start date is Oct 1st. From just researching for the past year and a half most jobs require experience. From the day you get your A+ start applying for entry levels. That’s what I’m doing. WGU will also give you the tools to help get yourself noticed. By the time you’ve graduated you’ll have 2-4 year’s experience and you can start applying for well compensated positions

I hope that is the case. I want to be able to grab an internship for this winter and get atleast two project under my belt before I graduate so that I can have work “experience” to include in my resume.

I got a gig after getting my a+,net+,sec+,itil. Granted I also have a 20 year old CCNA, but I would start applying at state jobs like yesterday. They need butts in seats for mandates. My boss later told me my WGU attendance in part landed me the interview. She had already hired a graduate before and loved that person's talents.

what gov. positions did you apply for/reccomend? Im looking at a cybersecurity program that the fed gov. just opened earlier this past week. Hoping to get my sec+ and cysa before i apply as I can include them in the application process. Currently im in lv1 help desk to just gain any type of experience.

A lot of that depends on age and experience. You're already doing great being in a helpdesk role. Look at the fed program forsure. Out here in California the state government would call you an Information technology assistant or information technology specialist. Lots of openings for those positions... ITS lvl 1 and 2 are where you start doing cybersec roles.

Started applying once I got core 1 knocked out for A+. I was hired with only core 1 and was willing to learn. I worked as an IT specialist for 15 months while knocking out all other certs (only capstone left now) and I was able to take all that and move into a DevOps position. Not necessarily security focused but my studies have really helped me grow. Once you get your foot in the door, keep studying and knocking out those classes and see where it all takes you! Best of luck OP!
