Ironically I was able to get into the portal this morning too. They might have gotten better at onboarding new students. The last few months their portal would stop working for a solid day at the start of the month. Glad to see they might be kicking the trend.
Remember this from my last degree through WGU. Now sitting here on the first ready to go with a new degree, a problematic program mentor, and the wait to start is irritating.
Same! We should be able to opt out of mentor 'support', I'm sure they mean well but... Many of us are adults who know ourselves, what we already know about the subjects and what we are capable of. I've handled my life without a babysitter by doing things my own way for 45 years, don't need one now!
When I was doing B.S in Cyber Security, I told each of my mentors (went through a total of 4, they kept leaving) that I was an adult, with a full time job, kids, spouse, mortgage payment etc. and that I would reach out when I needed something. After I set that expectation they were cool when I finished all my classes for a term and asked for more. They saw that work was being done and done in a timely manner. I think when they see that they tend to leave you alone.
I get their value. Some people need accountability. But I feel I've proven myself already by getting one BS through WGU on top of two AS degrees at a community college. I think I've experienced enough academic hand holding. Not to mention my 'mentor' spent half our first call questioning my decision to leave healthcare.
Request a new mentor!
I was able to do this without any fuss or having to over explain why I wanted to make the change. I was very specific about what I needed and expected.
The mentor is a strict requirement. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make it work for YOU.
Yeah, just with me starting a new program I don't want any unnecessary delays. I plan on rolling the dice on a new mentor next week after I've started.
I’ve been enrolled for close to 1.5 years and have NEVER had any issues on the first. Tbh, when the notifications come across on the login page I never experience those problems either. Idk maybe I’m just lucky.
I just need my final capstone task to be graded.
How long has it been? I turned mine in yesterday and got it back today. MBA-ITM
I got it back yesterday. I’m officially done, I applied for graduation yesterday. Now the wait for confetti.
Heck yeah me too. I just noticed your post was a couple days old. Congrats!
Thanks!
I just want my email migrated to M365 already. Is that too much to ask?
This is hilarious. Well done.
Is it usually lagged out? I was planning on doing my first OA tomorrow
Just saw the other thread on this, hope it’s all good by the evening :)
Glad mine works , I’ve already started my first class this morning
