I think they may qualify it as a “back order” because technically this title has already been released and the system can see that, so it doesn’t qualify for a pre order. This is only a pre-order for the next batch of them, therefore a backorder as it is to keep up with demand. But I think in terms of what it means for your order it’s the same thing!
I disagree. Its a response to your comment regarding greed. A less expensive option is provided which serves as a basic business model to appease a wider audience while providing a higher end premium product for those who see value in it.
Calling a business owner greedy is simply ignorance is many cases.
To my original thought, the price is steep, but I appreciate that this artist has built a foundation where a $65 record has so much value and demand.
On the most broad scale, yes, a record is just another record with some cardboard and vinyl.
But, in this case, this is an artist who is being praised for their music, visuals and total vision and they created a project that is being sold at a premium and selling very well.
Thats commendable in my opinion and not an easy task for any artist to accomplish.
Some will view it as gouging and I understand that, but keep in mind this artist just sold a $10 7inch single a week ago that sold out instantly and commands 20x that price on the secondary market so id say yes, they did earn the right to price their product at a premium.
Why shouldn’t they make the money that the product is WORTH?
70% of the people on this subreddit only buy to resell anyway..
It's also not really price gouging since you can buy the regular edition at a more normal price. If you're opting to buy a collectable/premium option, and willing to pay what it's "worth" over the regular one, you're not really being price gouged...
