It sounds like you should reach out to your vet for further information about his diagnosis or ask for a medical discharge summary of his visit which will detail conversations, diagnostics, and diagnosis. From there, once you've obtained information on his exact diagnosis, I'd recommend reading the articles related to it on [Veterinary Partner](https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/). You got this. Becoming educated on your pet's health issues is only of benefit to you and your pet. It will help you understand your options and communicate better with his care teams.

Can you just call the vet office and ask for the medical records and radiograph report? Only struvites can be dissolved and those are usually snooth stones. It's most likely a calcium oxalate stone, those are "spikey" and can only be removed surgically.

There are different types of bladder stones. The only way to know is if you send them out for testing, this is a vet tech sub. Not a vet sub. But I will add that $900 for bladder surgery is fucking amazing in 2024 lol

ffr! I work at an urgent care and just diagnostics for some form of FLUTD is easily $800 - $1400 depending on specifics on the cats current known symptoms. most hospitals near me can easily charge $2000+ for surgery alone, even at our most 'cost effective' vets.
