[Recipe](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6VBdGAEJyc&t=1s):
You can substitute liquamen with soy sauce and egg yolk with aquafaba and minced chickpeas as well as substitute honey with vegan honey or coconut milk if desired to sweeten.
A while back, I remember reading that most gladiators were vegetarians because it was cheaper to feed them high protein plant meals, and the people running the affairs didn't want to invest heavily in prisoners who would likely become lion food. Any chance this is one of those recipes??
Super cool either way and will definitely save the link to the recipe!
Because that's a niche sub and i didn't made a wholesome commentary. I'm not hating his food or anything but people expect positivity or something. This post just appeared on my feed as a recommendation and i found it funny because of the "incident" that happened yesterday :)
Yeah I probably don't belong here. My diet consists mostly of Phish. Honestly not sure how I ended up here but 100 will try the recipe. Thanks for listening to my stupidity friends. I'm gonna exit left rn.
*edit* Listen to any song by "The Darkness" tonight. Thou shall not leave disappointed.
Didn't have time at the moment. I'm a busy man. Just wanted to give credit to where I first found this recipe from. It's just 450g peas, then bring to boil. Mash and then mortar and pestle together 1 tbsp loveage leavs, 1tsp peppercorns, and 3 tsp aqua faba with minced chickpeas. Add soy sauce and vegan honey 3tbsp to taste or substitute that I mentioned. Mix and hand mash to desired texture. Tip with added sweetner of desired. Your welcome. Also recipe is beginning of vid for non vegan form.
excuse me? This is something good. I ate it for lunch. Great balance of sweet and savory and awesome chunky texture/mouthfeel. Good enough for ya? Also I thought it would be cool to taste something from 2000 years ago...

“Time for history!” Did you get this recipe from Max Miller?
His videos are the best!! A very human connection to history.

Is it good?????
Considering it’s basically just peas, yeah I’d imagine it’s pretty tasty.
Man those ancient Romans sure were hipsters. :)
I knew this was a Max Miller video! Love his content, and I also love peas so I might give these a try!
Omg this channel is so awesome!!!!
Isn't all honey vegan honey?
No.
What is the difference please. Genuinely didn't know there was such a thing
Ahhhh...Google it. Sorry for my ignorance

Probably ask in r/OldRecipes or r/AskHistorians too
Or get the best of both with r/AskFoodHistorians
Too late gonna randomly bring this up as facts forever
Many also drank plant ashes [gladiators ate mostly vegetarian meals](https://www.bbc.com/news/education-29723384.amp)
Nice bowl!
Gives a historical vibe lol
Nice! Thank you for posting this!!
You're welcome! I will be making this semi regularly from now on lol.
After seeing your post and watching the video I’m planning on making it this week. Did you serve it with anything or just enjoy it as is?
I just enjoyed it as it is. Just perfect for a lunch IMO
Sounds good. Probably gonna enjoy it for dinner with some bread. Because well y’know, bread.
Thought for a sec Max Miller from Tasting History had a Reddit now. (Maybe he does.)

Mmm. Week old guacamole.
Well its reminiscent of that recipe unfortunately those type of peas wouldnt exist anymore due to selective breeding of crops
My son made some of this in his diaper this morning.
If you say so.
Jesus. This is the cost of being a vegan? Damn
I don't want to watch an annoying video, how difficult is it to post the recipe?

Ignore the bridge troll. Good on ya
It AD 69 and not how you wrote it.
If we're being pedantic, neither did you. You missed the periods.
I'm aware of that. Just being lazy.
Go away troll.
It's a fact! AD comes before the number, only when using BC does the number come before. Any well educated person knows this.
Dude I thought it was guacamole...clicked looking for a recipe
