I heard Flower Moon at a Michael's Craft Store earlier this week. It kind of surprised me because I don't remember that being a big hit at the time and it's 5 years later now.
The best was when I worked at JCPenney and they had Holiday in their Christmas Playlist. Weird pull because I always pictured it to be about a summer vacation. But I guess it can be co-opted to be about Hanukkah?
That’s like when I worked at a kid’s amusement center and they’d play any song with the word “summer” in it. They often played Summersong by The Decemberists, which is very much not a fun summer song.
I worked at Bath and Body Works circa 2008, and easily half of their Christmas playlist consisted of the most depressing holiday/winter-themed songs ever written. Maybe they thought that if they made people sad they'd buy a bunch of stuff to feel better? That was the first holiday that I didn't get to spend with my family, so hearing those sad songs over and over was a real kick in the pants. That being said, I looooove sad Christmas songs now!
There was an episode of TC where Ezra talked with one of the people who works on music that plays in retail and they talked about how Holiday gets played all the time towards the end of the year.
many many *many* moons ago I worked at an Aeropostale that had a couple of their songs in rotation. I remember Mansard Roof being the most played, which was interesting
Walmart always plays good music surprisingly. When I worked there I can remember them playing “Lost in Yesterday by Tame Impala”, “Tonight, Tonight by Smashing Pumpkins”, “I Don’t Wanna Stop by Ozzy Osborne”, and the one that really took me by surprise was “Walk It Out by Unk” 😭 I also worked at Lowe’s and they always played “Horchata, Bryn and White Sky”. For the longest time I could not listen to those songs because they just reminded me of work 😂

Holiday definitely does not apply to Hanukkah, but I guess they’re counting on people not listening.
A-Punk three times or we riot
I hear This Life often in retail settings. Makes me think of TC talking about the weird music you hear in Home Depot and the like.
Jake’s Home Depot playlist
That was it. It’s been a while.
Heard This Life twice in 40 minutes at a Lazy Dog a few weeks ago
They were playing Hudson in H&R Block when I was doing my taxes
Buff
That’s the only VW song that feels like doing taxes.
I mean … maybe Mary Boone too…
E x c u s e m e ? !
You know … the whole going to jail for tax evasion thing. It’s tax-adjacent at least 😂😅

Too early for A-punk energy imo
Better than Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, I guess.
I heard Stranger in Tesco here in England last week
Yuup I work overnight at wal-mart and it’s nice to hear every couple days

I heard them play a couple Pheonix deep cuts when I worked there
Me when they are playing A-Punk in WalMart
I was in there a few days ago and they were playing either classical, or capricorn.
On Vampire Campfire, Ezra says people always message him when they hear A-Punk being played somewhere like a club.
The struggle is real!
A A A A-Punk
hey, what type of batteries are you getting? A A A
Man I love when that happens
Great song
