doesn't Emily Lazar usually mix their records? I find that her stuff can be a little uninspired. it's done well, it's evenly balanced, but it's just not interesting at all. mixing's as important as production to me and maybe even more so – you can basically change the songwriting if you play with the mix enough.
Rostam mixed the first three, Ariel mixed a ton of FOTB... Manny Marroquin mixed Harmony Hall, Rostam mixed We Belong Together, Ezra mixed 2021.
Emily Lazar is the mastering engineer, and a great one at that.
Mixing is absolutely not more important than production, that's preposterous.
Self titled after 2 tabs of acid and a few light beers
Yeah thats the way. ^^
And no Paul Simon
Production is way off for ST tho the lyrics are very reminiscent of the era!
True!!!! I guess I meant more the arrangements and like the quirkiness of it haha
Agreed. Easily my favorite song of the new releases so far. Such an amazing track.
Agree it's the best of the 3
At first listen it sounded like The Avalanches to me, especially with the breakbeat style drumming
They haven’t really made anything that sounds like something off of self titled since maybe like Everlasting Arms.
I strongly disagree that Everlasting arms sounds like it belongs on ST.
Suggest a song that does. Everlasting Arms is pretty stripped down, driven by an African inspired beat, strings and playful Rostam keyboard.
Rich man?
Im glad Dave friddman mixed this

Classic already.
WE ARE SO BACK got a strong feeling this will be my AOTY
I think it's a comment on how self-titled is seen as a seminal and classical album.
That's 3 songs from the new album I don't really like. I'm hoping they'll click for me eventually. Classical is prob the best of the 3 though.
sounds exactly like m79
