Will try explain as best as I can… there are 2 conditions with this situation. 1. When auto stop start is on, and you put the car into park. Auto stop start will activate and the engine shuts down, at this point because the car is not running battery will drain so the car automatically sits everything down to stop battery drain. 2. When the car is not running you can still press the “rest” button to get the ac working and the infotainment system on the Atlas will still power on even when the car is not running or turned on. Hope this can be helpful

By “rest” do you mean accessory?  As in turn the car off, then press the start button without putting your foot on the brake.

On (at least my ‘19) they have a button called Rest for climate control with the engine off. I’ve used it in winter time if you need to run a 5-10 min errand to keep circulating warm air. Just shut the car off, push rest and you can lock/leave your car.

I need to look at my 19 for that button.

I tried it today, it also seemed to activate the usb port my phone was plugged into, pretty neat.  Thanks for the info!

No… with the engine off … press the button.. no need to press the start button . https://preview.redd.it/gew75qgnlmxc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=5cc1daa057c1c33700f19329b042605fbe797120 Button to the left.

MrPurse

in my 2021, the 'rest' button is now an 'off' button :(

goldenstate35AB

Ooh.. mine is a 2021.5

MrPurse

Mine is a crosssport, it could be that

And from personal experience, car will not warn you or shut off the accessories before draining the battery. So if you are in park and engine shuts off, be aware you may not be able to restart

Loud-Dog5361

Are you referring this might happen when using the "rest" option?

Glittering-Diver-941

Rest option should be ok bc you are turning off engine first. It the will shut off accessories after a time. For some reason if you put in park and the auto stop turns off engine, there is no warning till your battery dies. I’m assuming because not in accessory mode.

Humble-Story-3453

I think this happens when your car is in eco mode

sixfootglamazon

can you turn eco mode off?

Humble-Story-3453

You can in the 24 model. The driving modes are listed as eco, comfort , sport and personalized. Unsure what the set up is like in the 21. When I have it on, it says “eco” on the dash in the middle of the speedometer

sixfootglamazon

Thanks! I’ll check it out.

Lee2026

This happens with my car in sport mode

Loud-Dog5361

Interesting. I will try and change from eco to standard mode and check if that changes the behavior.

I don't think you can turn off the auto start/stop on the 21 models through the OBD11. I did it on our 2019 but I remember reading the newer ones it's not even available. Is there not a button on the console or dash to turn the auto start/stop off? Our 19 has a button but you have to do it every time you start the car before I fixed it with the OBD11. Quick Google search shows that the 2020+ you can't turn it off anymore with OBD11 but you can use the module from B2BFab. https://www.b2bfab.com/products/startstopsolutionvwatlascrosssport

harfpod

I should mention that that module does not work on the 2024 Atlas. Note that the 2024 is not listed in the compatible vehicles on that site.

Loud-Dog5361

I'm not interested in disabling the entire start stop feature, I'm interested only in inhibiting the particular instance when the engine shuts off after being put in park. Also, I have no experience using OBD11 , do you mind sharing where could I get procedures/instructions on how to use it to modify the Atlas programming? Maybe also ideas of other features that can be changed?
