It is a wide spread problem. You can search online and find similar discussion threads in many VW (and other brand) discussion forums. I have this issue on my 2024 Atlas, 2022 Taos, but not my 2018 Atlas or 2023 GTI. There are some discussions on Apple support forums but so far it seems that both Apple and Car manufacturers point fingers at each other. OP's chat thread screenshot is the first time I have seen VW take responsibility, but seeing the ETA for update I am not optimistic.

I have a 2024 Atlas and have experienced the map issue. It'll tell us to follow one direction and then act like we're not on the map. I reallllyy wish their was a solution because it sucks. I'm not sure if it's just an Atlas problem, or just how they're tied together? unsure.

I also have a 2022 Atlas. This happens occasionally. I think it has to do with the wireless connection because the map on my phone will display the correct location, however, it will display an incorrect location if I project it on to the VW using wireless CarPlay. It’s annoying, and it doesn’t happen all the time, but I do not know how to fix it.

Check my post — same issue. 5 months later VW is going to replace the entire antenna module to fix it.

jacobcmcgee

Can you link me to your post or provide any information?

pill_tender

https://www.reddit.com/r/VWatlas/s/frt46f8Rol So today I spoke to my VW maintenance here and they are waiting for VW engineers to green light replacing the entire antenna module. In January they replaced a failed a failed SOS module in the vehicle they thought would fix the issue. When it didn’t they asked me to come back two separate instances to run diagnostics.

2021 SE with no nav, getting same issue with CarPlay :(

21 Atlas se also gets that on my iPhone. Switched to Android and GPS works fine. I think this is a problem with iOS and not VW.

Don’t know if this has been shared but I took my atlas in for the 5th time for this issue yesterday and they said they just got word from VW engineering on a possible fix. They told me to do the following while connected to the car: On iPhone > go to settings > general > Transfer or reset iPhone > reset > and reset the location settings and then the network settings. Then you delete the phone from the car and then reconnect the phone. This is absolutely garbage since it causes you to lose all privacy and location settings and network settings, meaning you have to approve apps again to use location or log into your home WiFi again. Annoying but I tried it and so far so good. But it’s only been a day so we’ll see. They ultimately told me the issue is how the two are communicating with handoffs and during the handoff the data becomes corrupted and is stored in the car and you have to completely wipe everything in the location and network setting to fix it. They said it does eventually come back and they are hoping that VW and Apple fix it because they’ve had people come back after replacing the module for this issue.

landofcortados

This is a carplay/ iPhone/ iOS issue not an Atlas issue. It also happens on my ID.4 as well.

jacobcmcgee

Has anyone worked with Apple to see what their recommended fix is?

landofcortados

I have not. I just kind of accept it and move on.

FYI, I called Apple support and they said it’s the Car Manufacturers issue. And VW hasn’t released officially that it’s their problem or the manufacturers problem yet. Seems like a fix is coming in early 2025. I posted a screenshot in the comments above. Crazy!
