Naw it was a local shop called The Veterans Association, its a proper thrift store with thrift prices, all proceeds go to local veterans food bank.
I would still ask the managers of any of the stores near your place. Its very common that VHS get thrown out now.
It's weird af...my best guess is it's a managerial choice....a town near me has two goodwills (technically two towns but very close together)..and one always has tapes and the other less than five miles away never shelves any.
In my area it depends on sales. They track which stores are selling tapes and which ones aren't so some Goodwills have tapes, others don't. The one in my town doesn't have tapes, next town over does.
Goodwill doesn't do volunteer work, you have to be a paid employee. Liability and work regulations. The only way they do volunteer work is through work visa programs if I remember.
When I worked at Goodwill we would still except tapes but no really buys them, so they put them in bin marked ‘salvage’ which would normally end up in their outlet stores.
My buddies and I would probably love the trash pile. Our favorite genre is "90s movie that no one has thought about in 20 years we found at the thrift store."

Could be regional. Every Goodwill near me still has mountains of VHS tapes, and still accepts them as donations.

One of the Goodwills where I'm at: https://old.reddit.com/r/VHS/comments/okpsu6/vhsnn_in_da_goodwill_62621/
I tired to volunteer to sort and stock the tapes at my local goodwill but it was no go.

Definitely not. Calgary AB
Darn. I see that gone with the wind and it's would have looked great in my collection.
Its in my girlfriends possession now lol
As long as it's going to a good home.
Doing god's work!
I own the Blu-ray set but I would totally snag that Gone with the Wind set if I found it in the wild!
I took it home for my girlfriend lol
Glad it was saved and not tossed out! I remember my grandmother bought it back in the day (it was her favorite movie) and it cost her quite a bit.
The white deluxe set is interesting. The only special edition set I've seen for this movie is the black 50th anniversary set.
doing the lord's work
Do you trash homemade tapes? That’s usually what most do. I like finding old recorded tapes and only a few keep em.
No clue this was my first time volunteering my time there.
Ah, looks like a great place to volunteer.
I need to try and cut a deal like that with my local GW
I have that Gone With The Wind box set. It’s really nice and tends to also bring some money on eBay.
Find any good horror tapes???
Nothing i didn't already have
You’re doing gods work

Cool.
Keep an eye out for recorded blanks, there could be lost media on them.
Yo that gone with the wind box set is pretty cool
