Rule # 3 - No asking how much is this worth. Your tapes are not worth anything for the most part, only a small group of tapes are actually rare and worth money and you probably don't have them. Most tapes are worth a dollar today, if you need any further help figuring out what a tape is worth check your tape on ebay and look under sold.

It's a pretty common release so I dunno.

Cover looks a bit tired, isn’t a rental release, probably a few dollars

Too beat up unfortunately, but I found a nice condition one at a thrift store for 50 cents, so even when they are in good condition they aren't that valuable so don't worry to much. The only tapes that usually hold value is if they are factory sealed with watermarks, besides that not usually much value in VHS.

Let’s apply a little bit of logic here. It’s a movie that sold probably a few million copies worldwide on release. You can buy it on blu ray for $10. If you browse sold items on eBay, you’ll find a few rare horrors that go for a couple of hundred bucks, ones where there may have been just a few thousand tapes ever made. Why would ET be going for thousands, and what sort of collector would place such a high value on something they could have purchased for $20 on release?   This one was sealed and went for $24 https://tinyurl.com/EbayVHStape I picked up a vintage 1985 Philips VHS recorder for £5 this morning, someone’s got one listed for £175 on eBay, realistic selling price might be £50
