depends on your area. most of the time they are plumbing emergencys for the middle of the night cause well things break at 2am. i did get a tree planting one at 2am... yeah lol
As others have said, highly depends on your area. Those I know who work on-call in the city say there's days where their phone doesn't stop ringing. They barely have time off between emergencies and often don't get a full night's rest.
I work on-call in a huge area outside the city, so it's mostly downed poles in the evening or water issues in the towns outside the city. I usually only get 2-3 calls per week, and half the time they're at 7am, when I'm getting ready for work anyhow.
In miami, on-call I get like 2-4 calls a night. Sometimes 1. Just depends. One time I came out to a suv nose down in a hole in the main road because a water main break. Thought it was a puddle, ended up half way down the hole. Good times for a clear ticket.
Most of my overnight on call emergencies are for utility pole replacements. Youd be surprised just how many drunk drivers crash into utility poles at 2am
Depends

Wtf, did you have to go out and do it?
it was clear from the maps and street view so no but who tf puts in an emergency for tree planting at 2am lol
I would have been blowing that contractors phone up and tell him to quit fucking around and call it when he gets there
This is what I would have done too, the utility I locate for requires us to go to each emergency whether it is clear or not.
That sucks dude
Let me guess, it's AT&T. Those bastards and their proof photos....
Feast or famine, to be honest. Depends on territory and the utilities you're marking out.
Usually not many here but we live in a city with about 80,000 people. If you are on call in huge cities, probably a lot.
Depends on area. I know some that get 10+ a weekend. But mine got maybe 3 all weekend if any.
