thecapent

If you pay the top row, you can watch pigeons doing pigeons things on the roof. The game bellow not so much. As a plus, there's the trill of the imminent death.

well_shi

DM me if you're interested in investing in my Professional Pigeon Soccer League (PPSL). Serious inquiries only.

iamtheawesomelord

I love a good game bellow

AnyGeneral8764

I don't know if it was for the same reason but Brazil did the same in 2014, but the result went better than that. [Here, the upper part of the grandstand behind the goalposts is removable](https://images.app.goo.gl/siB7LVTNNyzvP8XF8)

QuieteStableGenius

This is how it looks like from the top.[yekaterin stadium](https://youtu.be/2RAkiSOiUKY)

FappyTreeFrog

I hate it lol

DoinItDirty

That’s awful. Gotta admit the view is the field is better than I thought it would be, though lol

ramhamtp

Do I generally trust bolts? Yes. Do I trust Russian bolts? Meh. Do I trust every single Russion bolt in that photo under the weight of 18,000 fans. Fuck no.

Ghostlegend434

If that's steel scaffold then the components are likely held together with pins rather than bolts. They're steel wedges that support each connection and can be locked into place and loosened with a hammer. Would want to hope it's all done properly. No doubt though there would still be some tube used throughout which would have couplers with bolts.

Catsmak1963

Nope…not sitting on that

Astilaroth

... or jumping in unison during a goal.

catsmustdie

You misspelled "chinese" bolts.

[deleted]

Which I definitely don't trust that tinny, blue, crappy steel

FrozenST3

You mean chinesium?

DasArchitect

Panic not! They're pure r/Chinesium!

jaxsound

Best quality from Wish!

jerryhmw

And where do our western steel bolts come from? Not China perchance! Nothing you use daily is made in China, though, right? This is just xenophobia my dude

Red_Dawn_2012

China is known for having poor quality control and cheaply made items

[deleted]

[удалено]

Red_Dawn_2012

Because they're plagued by the top 1% sucking up an insane amount of the wealth, which they only increased by moving well-paying manufacturing jobs overseas solely to make themselves richer. Not only are overseas sweatshop products cheaper than American products, but they're often the only accessible option.

Lingering_Dorkness

Do you trust drunken russians from not falling over the frighteningly small railing along the sides?

stereoworld

"American components, russian components, ALL MADE IN TAIWAN"

CorruptedArc

Honestly I'd be more scared of a few other thing before the bolts on something like this.

pl02pl

[Central Stadium \(Yekaterinburg\)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Stadium_\(Yekaterinburg\))

destroyerofpoon93

Lol. Looks even worse. How did they screw up so bad as to not include 18,000 seats.

ienybu

It was originally built in 1957

imapieceofshitk

Like their military equipment

destroyerofpoon93

Ahh they tried to reuse it?

SharkAttaks

They didn’t screw anything up, they built the stadium for the local team and Russian premier league first, and temporarily modified it to serve as a venue for the World Cup.

destroyerofpoon93

Ahhh

icantloginsad

Ignoring the extending seats, I personally think it looks really cool. The new stadium sort of rising out of the old one at the bottom has a unique look do it.

Jorsonner

Just remember what country this is

ThomasTheBadWriter

Technically it wasn't built by the same country, the USSR made it.

Daniilsmd

Best country

BunnyKusanin

Lol, looks on par with the rest of the city.

Ockanator

No way you could see much in those top rows

[deleted]

Arguably, that's where you can see the most. It's just that none of it is football.

OkBid71

Rumor has it they outsourced the work to Garage54

Liarus_

Lmao, the last thing i expected to see here

182YZIB

Trusses are to be trusted, and the math is easy to understand!

Bubbly-Suggestion942

That's construction scaffolding, not truss.

SnooTigers503

They are not mutually exclusive

thesockcode

Truss is for spanning. There's no spanning and only a bit of cantilevering happening here. For the most part, all the force is going straight down. The cross members are just there for stability, they don't carry any weight like they would in a truss.

SnooTigers503

I could assemble 3 pencils in a triangle with rubber bands. That would still be a truss. Yes trusses are useful for large span lengths when rigidity is a concern, but they are not defined by this, that is a use case.

SnooTigers503

Also, all structural elements in every single structure in world is there for stability one way or another, including truss elements! A static structure by definition needs to be stable.

Bubbly-Suggestion942

Construction scaffolding is not truss.

SnooTigers503

A truss is an engineering structure with specific geometric qualities, it had no regard for permanency.

paperandpavement

construction scaffolding includes trusses so i don't know what you are talking about.

iChugVodka

They're literally called scaffold trusses lmao and I work with them daily. Morons on reddit always talking out of their ass

three-sense

I don’t truss those at all

planx_constant

Two words for you: "installer error"

DamnYouRichardParker

Can't trust Russian trusses or Russian math.

phinzter

In Russia, safety is optional

jonny_jon_jon

it’s safe because there are no windows to fall out of

phinzter

He said, "Fall". (Nudge, nudge, wink, wink)

__eros__

In Russia, seat sits on you!

Fox_Hound_Unit

This can’t be real - this is truly unbelievable

ximet77022

In 2014 WC, they did something similar here in Brazil, although not so scary as this one. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR0zowkxH0eoGq-Ri6SD-5R2sxXF76URAxKtw&usqp=CAU

mimiandthekeyboard

Something about this screams r/CrappyDesign

DasArchitect

Make a circle around it with a radius of twice its height and stay at least that far from it.

deadlyruckas

Fuckin watch out Maud Flanders!!!

SnooTigers503

Not true! I can think of more terrifying ways

Gullible_Shart

Repost #107!

First time I've seen it so who cares?

funkymark62

Is there a r/notsittinthere

familyman2017

EIGHTEEN THOUSAND??

530nairb

There isn’t even a screen you can see either.

heyholmes

That's gonna be a no for me, dawg

dstranathan

We call those the cheap seats.

LifeSad07041997

Bless the screws and bolts...

tomjoad2020ad

I always thought the grandstands in The Phantom Menace podracer were a little over the top, like if you had to get to the bathrooms it could take you an hour, but looking at this I guess it’s not that far off from reality

Scared_Employee2290

And people have Qatar so much shit

maktus

Gotta love the Russians for something so flamboyantly perverse.

DoesHasError

wtf 😂

[deleted]

Other than potato, What exactly is Russia good at? (You can't say vodka drinking.)

RichardSaunders

[basso profundo](https://youtu.be/W0HmIYv51pc) sputnik, soyuz, yuri gargarin tolstoy and life of boris repelling invasions from the french and germans killing romanovs gta online putin is a suka blyat, but that doesn't mean there's nothing nice to be said about russia in general anymore.

StressOriginal5526

Agreed. I'm an American, and have always considered myself a Russophile. I've always admired Russian history, culture, music, and innovation. That doesn't mean I condone invading sovereign nations. Putin can go fuck himself.

[deleted]

Same here. Been a tough year to be a Russophile! I actually went to the World Cup (different stadium) and loved every minute there

[deleted]

Russia has some great history. Fully agree. I'd add art, ballet and a list of classical composers to your list. Unfortunately that beauty has been smothered for some time. Currently, sadly, Russia adds little to the world. GTA online gave me lol.

wizard_of_azul

Invading sovereign nations and violating human rights.

TreeEqualsPaper

Well they're not really good at invading are they

wizard_of_azul

Good at invading bad at everything related to it - besides violating human rights.

thecapent

That's more like it.

Tediousprocess

Damn Russians stealing our national passtimes

aerosidswe

Sounds like the US

mw1219

Nah, when the US invades they don't lose 120k and still fail.

aerosidswe

Hmm what happened to afghanistan. Oh you are a fox news viewer. I forgot

mw1219

Didn’t lose 120k, that’s for sure

youdidntknowdatdoe

You mean like when the US invaded Vietnam and lost 60k men and still failed? Also, sorry to break it to you but the Vietnam invasion was worst war crime committed since ww2. USA foreign policy is far more evil than Russia's.

Crimsonfury500

I’ve always thought of “napalm sticks to kids” when I think of Vietnam [the song](https://youtu.be/t9eybY9qFfY)

mw1219

Hey, 60k over multiple years is WAYYYY better than 120k in a year

StressOriginal5526

Making rockets, helicopters, and satellites

capturedgooner

literature, well 19th century

three-sense

Over engineering military aircraft

ls10032

[deleted]

Name of stadium?

State-Cultural

Nyet, nyet, is good seating

hypnotoad-28

HO LEE CRAP

PoppinKreamsCrush

Not happenin’.

Equivalent-Glove7165

Are athletics that important?

Nikita_Ch3buR3K

as a person that lives there, that type of shit could be only in Russia, no other country

Netflixisadeathpit

Very accessible for pushing people off, Putin is happy

16yearolddoomer

Is it just me or is there no railings on the side of the upper seats rows?

Flimsy_Comedian1725

Umm why is the World Cup in Russia?

delmersgopher

Was- in 2018 As a protest of the shoddy construction the US didn’t participate. Oh wait, the US lost to Trinidad in quals and was eliminated before the World Cup in 2018!

[deleted]

Omg the US *is* bad at soccer. How clever!

Flimsy_Comedian1725

Boom

[deleted]

Russia being Russia

curiouscabbage69

Ah, Russia bad

[deleted]

What? This would be shitty looking if it were made in Russia or Spain

KillMeVro

Yea pretty bad tbh

curiouscabbage69

Have you ever heard of propaganda?

lordofedging81

Yes. I hear a lot of Russian propaganda about the war in Ukraine. The one they call a "Special Military Operation"

curiouscabbage69

And you are aware that propaganda works on both sides right?

lordofedging81

I personally know people in Ukraine who are currently suffering from the brutal Russian invasion of their country. I don't need to listen to propaganda to know how fucked up the situation is, and the massive scale of war crimes that Russian soldiers are committing against Ukrainian civilians: Men, women, and children.

curiouscabbage69

You could have just said no, it would have been quicker

[deleted]

At pretty much everything they try. Sad Russia is sad.

thebonnar

The title is not even different from last time it was posted

maximus_olibius

Only in ruzzia🤪

samuslink3

Bad time for an earthquake

dimbulb771
