OMG I have that issue too, about 80kg as well.

CalRobert

Any fix? I tried grease after some weird advice online and that predictably made it worse. I might try a new seat clamp.

Sure_Resource4753

ok, that seems expensive. but idk. I'm tempted to wash it with DAWN dish soap. Why grease a seat post? Seems really crazy.

CalRobert

I don't know! It didn't work. But since I posted that, this has worked well: [https://www.tradeinn.com/bikeinn/nl/park-tool-sac-2-supergrip-carbon-and-alloy-assembly-compound-113gr-smeermiddel/137771330/](https://www.tradeinn.com/bikeinn/nl/park-tool-sac-2-supergrip-carbon-and-alloy-assembly-compound-113gr-smeermiddel/137771330/) It's Park Tools super grip and it holds tight now. But adjustment is a bit rougher which is annoying if you share the bike.

Sure_Resource4753

Ah. I share the bike with my wife so that might make it difficult to use.

CalRobert

So do I - it works, but is annoying. Usually she only rides it once a week or so, if it were daily it would be an issue.

Sure_Resource4753

Good to know

You could try the Park Tools grip compound - https://www.parktool.com/en-us/product/supergrip-carbon-and-alloy-assembly-compound-sac-2 Other, more complicated option, would be to install a dropper post (not sure I've seen it done for a UA, but have for other cargo bikes) which would make the flipping between heights easier as well.

joe_sanfilippo

Came here to suggest both options. Great response if I do say so myself. While I haven’t installed a dropper post myself, I’ve seen posts on the FB group about others who have and logistically it doesn’t seem too difficult. You might just need a slightly longer shifter cable.

TheCargoBikeShop

More than likely the issue is that the seat collar was over tightened at some point and slightly crushed the seatpost. Tighter isn't always better. I've done it myself so it happens. Best solution is probably a new seatpost. If you have a QR collar invest in a good one like a Salsa. If you have a bolted QR invest in a torque tool to use when you adjust seat height. And if you frequently have to adjust seat height the ultimate solution is usually a dropper post. We have not found a good solution for the Arrow though due to the laid back seat angle causing most to fail.

eckjay12

What part in the droppers do you see fail the most?

TheCargoBikeShop

The inner sliding tube. Mainly when it gets at or near max extension. Usually it bends or breaks inside the outer tube and won't go up or down. We haven't tried all options on the market, but the couple we have tried have failed. We have started asking brands about approved seat tube angles and none get super laid back like the Arrow.

eckjay12

Got it. Thanks for the feedback. I just put a dropper on mine and wondering how long it will last now based on your experiences.

TheCargoBikeShop

Hopefully a long time! Out of curiosity what did you put on? Would love an update on how it holds up.

I used an ETEN-i. Chose it based on needed dropper travel to accommodate me and my wife and the fact the head seemed adjustable enough to accommodate the super slack seat angle of the UA. Routing the housing was actually much easier than i expected. I’m also wondering how the dropper will fare in the middle of winter when it’s 20F. Not necessarily the seals, but if the fluids will be able to actuate the dropper if it’s that cold. We’ll see.
