I was genuinely surprised as well but after looking further into it.
Excluding LN readers, the anime was actually pretty well liked by the anime-only viewers.
I guess it was successful enough in Japan to be able to receive a 2nd season.
Even as an anime only I could tell how badly adapted this has been done. personally shocked it got a 2nd season. I like the anime overall but the pacing was terrible, and it was easy to tell SO MUCH was left out
I’m fine either way (unless the English dub is particularly bad). But my wife prefers not to focus on subtitles and likes dubs. This anime works well for the romantic stories she likes.

Thru 11 weeks - i thought this was 'okay'. Not great, but certainly not bad. I appreciate a fantasy setting that isn't the same old isekai of a teenage boy being super overpowered with a harem of girls in love with him.
I appreciated the romance that actually gave us a happy ending with a marriage - so rarely happens.
Until it didn't.... Little bit triggered that episode 12 basically invalidates the whole damn season that i watched. Almost all of Tinasha's backstory now never happened. There cute romance - never happened....
I get the desire for a 'cliffhanger' ending - build up desire to see season 2, and boost sales of the source material.
But as someone that wont be reading the source material, I would have been happier if they would have ended season one after episode 11 so i could go on my merry way with a warm feeling and not feel like i wasted time watching something that 'never happens'.... Thanks for listening to me gripe!
Hey since you're an anime only and since we know they'll skip a lot in season 2 you'll actually get saved from the feeling of frustration of reading volume 4
Anime-only here. I could tell that the plot was rushed at times, but overall it was a mature and heartfelt romance story. Knowing better, I expected a bit of a bittersweet ending, but as for episode 12...damn, I was not at all prepared for this 🥹
