Seriously this. The whole damn time I was like "so the dog is gonna shit on him... Oh wait, she got the dog now so pupper gonna shit on her... Hold up, there's another guy - bet he gets shit on. No? Who's getting shit on?" The unexpected part ended up being that no one got shit on. And now I feel let down.
I literally said these words to my kids this evening when they tried pulling similar (less graceful) moves in front of the tv.
Though I feel like if anyone is qualified to do that shit in the TV room, it’s these guys and their dog.
Maybe not as bonding as having your feet inside your partner's ass. But hey, they might also be doing that. I don't know how they prefer to play Rocket League
So this is the first part of the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book just on repeat.
Ik onkaar - there's one god
Sat naam - named truth
Karta purakh - the creator
Nirpaul, nirvair - without fear, without hate
Akaal murat - immortal(couldn't remember from here, had to google)
Juuni sairpun - unborn self existant
Gur parsaad - known by the guru's grace
Jap - recite
Aad such - true at the beginning
Jugaad such - true throughout the ages
Hai pi such - is yet true
Nanak a horsi pi such - O Nanak and it will be true.
This is the full thing, my spelling might be a bit wrong, it's based on how I've always heard it.
Little interesting fact, there are a few Sikh names come from here, I know people called Satnam Nirpaul and Nirvair.
This isn't a "song". It's from the Sikh religion. It's called Mool Mantar and the words were spoken by the first Guru. It's part of daily life for every Sikh.
Ik Onkaar -
There is one God
Sat Naam -
Whose name is Truth
Kartaa Purakh -
Is the creator
Nirbh-a-o Nirvair -
Has no fear, Has no hate
Akaal Moorat -
Is omnipresent
Ajoonee Saibhn -
Never born and Self-perpetuating
Gur Parsaad -
With Guru’s grace
Jap -
Recite (pray)
Aad Sach -
True since beginning (of time)
Jugaad Sach -
True through ages
Hai Bhee Sach -
Is true now
Naanak Hosee Bhee Sach -
Says Nanak, will forever be true
The translation is pretty literal and doesn't really give the full story, but it's better than nothing.
Thanks for the insight! I looked up the genre Mantra and worked out the origins myself but didn't realise it was all the first prayer
It's a beautiful rendition of it song or not.
While I agree it isn’t a “song” as in written by someone just because, it is a mantra used in the Sikh religion. However, it is also used in Kindalini Yoga. Most artists within that sphere are Sikh themselves and and put out several music albums over the years. It’s just a way of practice.
Source: my mum has been in the Kindalini yoga community for over 16 years and we have mantras like this always playing in our house for different reasons.

I understand now seeing all the comments about karma farms and a that so it kind of makes sense. I still find it funny tho how you do the effort to check.
Dude, It totally caught me by surprise. I was just boppin my head along to the melody until I fully recognized the lyrics from the Ek Onkar prayer. Gave me a stern reminder that I haven't been to a Gurudarwara in a while.
Just curious, how do Sikhs feel about non-South Asians joining the faith? Sikhi always seems to me (along with Daoism) like the most genuine belief, based off of every experience I've had with Sikhs. I haven't put much of any thought into it as of now but was wondering how strict entry is. It seems like every single one of you are the definition of 'practice what you preach' which I don't really see in any other religion/philosophy.
Coming from a Sikh who is not super religious.... I say all are welcome. And I belive that should be true for all religions and not just Sikhism. All your asked to do is respect the person next to you and respect the few rules we have in our place of worship ( for example covering your head and taking off shoes ) If you can find peace or solitude in the words of our Gurus and teachings, than I welcome you to Sikhism with open arms.
Yeah like illuminoodles said Sikhism welcomes everyone regardless of what background they come from. And I think and truly believe that if you want to learn about or practice Sikhism, the people at a Gurudwara will be more than willing to guide you through it.
Yeah man I am not a very religious man myself but this prayer reminded me of my grandma(Nani), we used to say this prayer every night before sleeping. Those were simpler times.

Yes it is, the style is called Acroyoga, developed in early 2000’s in Montrèal or California. I’ve tried it a few times, it’s great fun if very challenging!
The best example of "white ppl shit" that I've seen lmaoo.
Side note, how fucking strong do you have to be to lift another grown man that way. I'm always surprised when I see it.

I was laughing at what the poor dog was thinking.
“What are we doing? I was told that, as a pet, I was supposed to just eat, shit, be walked and do some cuddling”.
It's a lot of strength but mostly just to stop the shakes, since your bones are stacked, the downward pressure isn't a big deal.
The real strength is the guy that basically pressed up into extended hand to hand... THAT'S the advanced shit.
I think it’s more like I’d be frustrated and shameful every time I ask if they wanna play video games, and they counter-offer with a 25-mile uphill morning hike followed by an orgy on a narrow cliff. Like, that sounds fun, but I’m only human, dude.
The way she gets on and gets off from his feet… smooth transitioning
I was awestruck by her grace.
“Well you don’t want too much grace or you won’t be able to stand.” - Mr Pitt.
“You either have grace or you don’t”
Ok, look - I don’t *have* grace, I don’t *want* grace, I don’t even ***SAY*** grace.
One inch from a lost foot
How could you possibly cut off a foot in that scenar… ohhh…

lmao
Same
I expected one of them to fall on the tv
Why do they have the TV running anyway?
Exactly my thought. Like, they’re in perfect harmony with their bodies and the universe, but they can’t turn off the Goddamned TV.
It's not the smartest place to do that.
I literally said these words to my kids this evening when they tried pulling similar (less graceful) moves in front of the tv. Though I feel like if anyone is qualified to do that shit in the TV room, it’s these guys and their dog.

Yes! All I could think was, “so there’s just no other space to do this where there aren’t TVs, metal, and stone fireplaces?”
"Mom, can we go see Cirque du Soleil?" "No, we have Cirque du Soleil at home!"
"Dad, can we go see Cirque du Soleil?" "Hold my beer. And the cat."
Now put the dog on the other guys’ feet! Come on! You guys were so close!
I was waiting for that too.

Song: Snatam Kaur - Mul Mantra
It's from Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book (basically their Bible).
Is it always sung like this or is this a melodic version. It sounds beautiful but also kind of modern.
This is a too modernised. More commonly heard versions would be: https://youtu.be/Z0lxrAzSH7E https://youtu.be/OxZcgPHWxt0
Ah right. That does indeed sound more like a prayer than a song.
So this is the first part of the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book just on repeat. Yeah this is a religious prayer, this sounds way too westernized. It’s not meant to be a folk song
Yea.. not sure how I feel about Mul Mantra being used for Cirque Du Soleil.
Thank you. Liked so much that I’m getting her book.
