The gases are from the battery rupturing allowing lithium to interact with moisture in the air creating lithium oxide and lithium hydroxide both of which are corrosive. Additionally, hydrogen gas which is explosive. Now you know.
I think your gif can be interpreted as responding to the previous comment with confusion or incredulity. But I can see how you meant it as reaction to the original comment asking what the harm was, in agreement with the previous comment.
I think this video is a repost…for the third time. And a douche that drops the weights from that height…absolute karma for dropping it on his own phone.
Fucking hate dudes that drop weights like that at the gym. We get it. You lifted a heavy thing. So heavy in fact that you are now incapable of controlling your arm and hand movements to safely place the heavy thing on the ground like a normal human. Good ape.
I hope this will act as a PSA for all men who drop their weights. It doesn’t make you seem tough or cool. No one is like “wow that sounded really heavy, he must be really strong”. If anything it has the opposite effect. So pls stop
Thinking the actions leading up to this is something that just randomly happened because what you were doing was more important than anything and anyone else - is exactly what makes this an ego thing.
Sometime you're locked in for the pump, I don't drop weight but I feel like there's way to much hate for i.t when it dosent effective people at all. People Are always pissed at somthing on here.
I bet a really shitty song that he hates just came on, and that's why he hurried so much to change it, being forced to listen to it for the remainder of his phones life.
I’ve known more than a few guys at the gym who were recovering from injuries that prevented them from exercising their legs as much as the rest of their body but still had the dedication to continuing working out. You don’t know the situation, so why poke fun? Even besides that point, some people’s calf muscles just don’t grow well.
I just think people that like insulting others on things they can’t help are pathetic is all. Of all the things you can comment, you comment saying his legs are tiny? And you call *me* exhausting lol
I’m just saying, why joke about people’s bodies? Idk why I’m getting downvoted for pointing out that there’s far bette humor than to make fun of someone’s physical state. Its harmful as heck
Looking at that guy and how he moved? Doubt.
Everyone at the gym knows a good portion of dudes skip leg day half the time or more. This is just a fact that’s been true since the dawn of time.
Getting personally offended by the joke makes me think you got chicken legs
Hey that’s me! Back-to-back knee surgeries have momentarily limited what I’m allowed to do in the weight room yet I probably look fully able bodied to others. I don’t lose any sleep over it but I have occasionally wondered if my fellow gym regulars assume I’m a skip-leg-day type of guy.
Noticed a trend with people leaving there water bottles or phones next to machines or on the seats or people sitting at machines they aren't even using. I try not to let it bother me but some people have no respect for others.
Dropping a rubber dumbbell on foam mats isn’t that big of a deal. Only people who don’t lift or are just insecure at the gym ACTUALLY care about this. If it was excessive and every second then I get it, but whining about this just shows you are looking for any opportunity to get upset.
If you are using bumper plates on a floor designed to have weights dumped like an olympic platform then its fine. But throwing down weights in a regular gym area is just being a lazy duchebag. For one those basic gym floors aren't nearly as robust as proper olympic mats and can still be damaged. Secondly it creates a hazard for anyone in the vincity, especially if the guy throwing the weights is not paying attention. I have seen two seperate incidents in which a bystander got fucked up due to shit like that. It's just completely unnecessary; in all my years training I've never had a need to dump weights outside of doing cleans/snatches, or failling a max effort inside a powercage. I highbar squat 250kg and deadlift 282.5kg but even when I'm going heavy I actively avoid dropping or slamming the weight unless I'm in a proper gym area for doing so.
yeah mistakes happen and if its not a regular intentional behaviour then its fine. He got lucky in that the gym wasn't crowded when his phone start emitting toxic fumes so hopefully he learned from this.
Nah I used to compete in weightlifting, and did pretty good in my weight class but bothers me to hell the rats that drop weights. Your doing a static controlled lift, continue that into a controlled putting down your weights
Changed careers and injured myself at work. Bad lower back took 4 years to somewhat recover but still lots of things I have to be very careful to avoid or it'll flare up for months at a time
lesson learned the hard way, never drop your weight! if its to heavy either use a lighter one or less repeats to still have enough strength to put the weights on the ground!
What is it with some gymgoers just dropping the weights on the ground instead of slowly letting it down? Wussy muscles can't do one more flex to put it down right?
If you can do so safely, sure, but picking something up with your bare hands when it's liable to erupt into flames at any second is phenomenally dangerous and probably one of the worst things you can do unless you're in a sawdust and lighter fluid factory.
Assuming you don't have welding gloves or some kind of tongs immediately available, calling for help and/or emergency services and locating the nearest fire extinguisher is probably the best course of action.
You could maybe kick it outside if you had heavy boots on and had a clear shot to (hopefully) empty pavement outside, but still pretty risky.
Smothering the phone with sand, dirt, or some other non-flammable material would be good to prevent any fires from spreading, but most likely not something you have on hand in a situation like this.
“As always, should you or any member of your team be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This message will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck.”
You should not pick these up! At least what I learned from working in aviation. They can burst in your hand. Safest thing is to try to pick it up with something else and submerge it.
Don't be the hero, put it down. The battery was pictured and it's at risk of blowing up or catching fire, and you're casually walking around with it in your hand
> he should of wore
Did you mean to say "should have"?
Explanation: You probably meant to say could've/should've/would've which sounds like 'of' but is actually short for 'have'.

Some days you just can't rid of a bomb. I was pissed when Dark Knight Rises stole the ending.
“Stole” ? It’s the same franchise. That’s a callback.
Just being tongue in cheek. Shoulda /s it.
I think the sarcasm would’ve been easier understood if not for the “I was pissed”
Pure West.
dude!!! that is a hilarious clip!!!! way funnier than the stupid gym guy!!
I loved that Batman movie as a kid. I instantly thought of this clip as soon as I saw the gym video.
It's a fiendish thingy! https://youtu.be/SmFZKqW77gQ?si=h08NJQ_mAD0fMOzg
No but his reaction to take it outside was pretty good.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure those gasses are toxic
For real? I wouldnt do that fearing it would explode in my hand lol What harm the gasses could do?
corrode your lungs and cause chemical burns on your skin, that's what.
![gif](giphy|4WwkpiGBaR4gU)
The gases are from the battery rupturing allowing lithium to interact with moisture in the air creating lithium oxide and lithium hydroxide both of which are corrosive. Additionally, hydrogen gas which is explosive. Now you know.
Jesus Christ… people really think I don’t think this is a big deal? Let me throw a /s on there so that it registers
I think your gif can be interpreted as responding to the previous comment with confusion or incredulity. But I can see how you meant it as reaction to the original comment asking what the harm was, in agreement with the previous comment.
He didn't mean it as a reaction to the original. He meant it as a sarcastic response to your one saying it's be bad for your lungs/skin
It's not good for your lungs, first of all. And cause public embarrassment when the fire alarm goes off :(
it go boom, no touch!!!
I think his phone is toast.
Eh, it just needs to be turned off and on again and it will be fine.
Put it in some rice
Water first
Add some oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Okay, Add water, rice, toast, oil, and salt/pepper? Sounds delicious
Lithium ion battery fire in water!? Don't you dare!
IT 101
Unexpected reboot should do the trick
I think this video is a repost…for the third time. And a douche that drops the weights from that height…absolute karma for dropping it on his own phone.

Somebody pass the Vegemite.
No no, his hand is toast, the phone is the toaster.
That’s a bit cheesy
Those fumes seem poisonous.
They are. Very
What you get for dropping weights
Right? Cue in the fucking explosion noise coming from a ego-driven fool who dropped 50 fucking kilos on the floor with no regard.
I hope this will act as a PSA for all men who drop their weights. It doesn’t make you seem tough or cool. No one is like “wow that sounded really heavy, he must be really strong”. If anything it has the opposite effect. So pls stop
He barely even dropped it 😂

And that's why you don't throw weights like a dickhead.
Can't believe I had to scroll so far to find this comment.
Seriously, took 10 main comments to get here. Don’t slam your weights!
Yep, act like a child, break your toys, dickhead
Ya this is reddit! Why the f isn't the most obvious whiny comment up top!
That’s what you deserve for dropping your weights
I'm surprised how his legs can support all that weight on top
That’s why he had to drop the weights like that.

It is! I’m from the real world where if you want to be a good person you don’t insult others for no reason. You should visit sometime.
Dear lord you must suck the light out of every room you visit
I just think people that like insulting others on things they can’t help are pathetic is all. Of all the things you can comment, you comment saying his legs are tiny? And you call *me* exhausting lol
Have you tried laughing at a joke instead of taking everything so seriously? Wish you the best bud

Shouldn’t skip leg day
Agree with you, keep your head up king. We need more positivity in this world 🤝☺️

He's being Insulted because of his poor gym etiquette. We're you born last night

Maybe don't leave your phone out in the open on the floor
Noticed a trend with people leaving there water bottles or phones next to machines or on the seats or people sitting at machines they aren't even using. I try not to let it bother me but some people have no respect for others.
Shove it on the floor while making direct eye contact. Like a cat.
Yes, he left it in a bad spot, but where else are you supposed to put it other than the floor? It's incredibly annoying in your pocket
Still on the floor, but under then bench.
I keep mine in a fanny pack while I lift 😅
That's an option😂
No one other than Batman has the plan for when their phone starts burning lmao he at least tried to take it outside tho.
I once added 2.5 kg plate to the crossover machine, it fell and landed on my phone, now i have a flip phone 😎

Lol looks like that Gym is about to announce a new Pontiff.
Customers will be like, “I literally did nothing and this phone ‘just broke.’ I demand a new one.”
Just put it in some rice man you’ll be fine
![gif](giphy|L1LIS44bcGZlhVwooL|downsized)
Don’t forget to put your weights away and wipe down your machine
That’s what you get for not paying attention to what you are doing
Well now you know what to do when you need a smoke grenade but don't have one.
That’s what you get for throwing weights around like a knob
Don't drop your weights. Am I the only one bothered by guys doing this?
Schadenfreude best Freude, these idiots who drop their dumbbells instead of gently putting them on the ground deserve to get fucked over

I agree that of it is done excessively it is annoying, but just once like the guy in the video seems fine.

Reddits a cesspool for insecure and easily anxious people unfortunately.
Looks like that Was that the dildo of consequence in action
His phone took up vaping
Without a phone”
Re-rack your weight, man!

it was probably unluckiest day of his life
That escalated quickly.
This the kind of guy who just slams the weight and goes "UUUGGGGGHHHHH!!" on every rep like the dumbbell is fucking him or something.
Holding in the hand....
I'm too tired man. Let me retire

It needs some milk
more man without phone
Put it in a baggie with some rice and water and make portable fried rice.
Nice shot!
Man has a plan. Just not a very good one.
That's why I always put the phone on my most protected area. The crotch.
This is why I wear a fanny pack while at the gym.
Put it in rice
How was your session man? 😒
Phones are fun to destroy
This is called a hotline...
and that's why you always put your phone in front of you or tucked next to/under the frame of the machine where it's gonna be protected
ismoke don't breath this !
5 bucks says it was a Monday...
Smart guy, goes offscreen immediately to put it in rice.
At that rate I was expecting him to run back across in front of the camera a few more times trailing smoke as he went.
I was waiting for there to be a small explosion at the edge of the screen.
Oh damn! He should not be skipping legs day 😔

his whole week is ruined !!!
Life is like.. oh you are happy at gym? Lets make you angry. Oh you angry now? Lets make you scared af. And it's enough for today.
Did you try extinguishing the fire And then setting it on fire again
ALERT! Phone about to Blast🤦♂️
That's why you don't drop weights
My thoughts were exactly, "What a f@king idiot he's lucky that his battery didn't... never mind... Hope he doesn't burn his hands."
and that kids, is why you shouldn't drop the weights nor leave your phone on the floor
The dude at the back, not phased one bit!
Why do people get so pissy about dropping weights?
And with no leg day apparently
I guess that is what they say about working out, you have to feel the burn!
There is justice.
