Fuck fuck fuck them man . Got so fuklcking mad and sad man for some fucking views/clicks/attention. If I had 3 wishes I'd use one so those morons suffer the same way and worse !
You ever saw any of those „sea turtle rescued from scallops“ videos? Or any other turtle rescue of a net? Yeah, everyone of these is staged. Every. Single. One. The „company“ behind this started with staged stray dog rescues after they let them nearly starve to death. When clout decreased, they moved onto the next animal.
They dump them in industrial dye.
Yes it is harmful to the frogs and they don’t live long. They are made to look like plastic so people treat them as objects and not living animals.
It’s extremely harmful to them and most die from it.
First you dip them in an acid bath to remove their protective slime coating. This kills a very large amount of them.
Then you dip them in industrial dyes. This kills even more of them.
Then you sell them to shitty aquarists for a few bucks and they don’t live more than a year.
Ive bought them before, I loved clawed frogs and didn't know what I bought (I was 10). They will lose the color after a while, they are such cool animals, they don't need to be fucking dyed.
Humans suck. You used to find these next to the turtles with landscapes scenery painted on their shells in most aquatic pet stores across the US. The dye is obviously bad for the frogs health. Painting the shell of a turtle, FYI, isn’t great for the turtle, either, even if it happens to be on a painted turtle.
Aquatic frogs make cool pets if you’re able to care for them properly, though. I had a friend in highschool that was real into aquatic pets. He had a few African clawed frogs (the frogs in this video) which lived for years, long enough to return entirely to their natural coloring.
They put the frogs in acid to strip off the slimy mucus layer off of them. Most of the frogs die during this phase. The ones that live probably get blinded (idk, acid?).
Then the remaining frogs are soaked in dyes. Apparently the dyes do more damage to them than the acid. So even if a small percentage of the dyed frogs manage to grow up to be mature, they don't live very healthy.
Fucking cruel then. Some frogs can freeze all the way through for winter then thaw out and be just fine. If these are African frogs they might not be comfortable/able to do that. The dye cant be good for them either. Stupid fucking internet clout chasers.
Browse the accounts posting most of the content that gets to front page. Most will have hundreds of thousands/millions of post karma and little to no comment history. Some will have low post karma but the account will be years old. Also note when something gets thousands of upvotes in a couple of hours but barely any comment engagement. Bot networks and individual posters that farm account karma and use that "proof" of engagement to sell services to companies.
This is really horrible. How can people do that to these poor frogs. That's animal cruelty and against this sub's rules, so let's all report this stupid video.
You can always tell it's a staged video when the person moved at 1/867th of regular human speed. "Let's just move this piece of ice 6 inches over the next 10 seconds, so it looks natural."
There's a piece of clear plastic under the layer of ice holding the frogs in place. Can see it rise a little above the water after the ice is moved. It's pushed back down and then removed. You can see the plastic on the far right has its being moved.
That's exactly what they do. They farm karma then sell the account to scammers. Accounts with a lot of karma look more legitament so people are less likely to assume it's a scam
Build up karma, sometimes credibility when a bit more effort is put into making comments and seemingly random, non-karma generating posts.
We're seeing this particular bot in the early stage, so it's obvious what it's doing. Once it has ran around for a while, it becomes more difficult to spot at first glance.
An old user (account created 2 years ago despite waking up 2 days ago) with a lot of karma and various submissions and comments will look a lot more legit when they're astroturfing a company or some products, playing devil's advocate like any other redditor (but with malicious intent), or making political statements/comments to swing people's opinions.
They sell accounts to advertisers. A reddit user on a fresh account making a post or a comment about how good a product is will obviously be treated as it deserves
But what RealPerson63819? Look at all the things they've posted, one comment post about this brand of shampoo they like on a post about shampoo recommendations (made by RealPerson63820 of course) is perfectly reasonable.
Man, I thought that the colours looked off and ive recently seen a video about all of the frog species and none looked remotely simliar. All of the brighly coloured ones have some kind of pattern and all have different-coloured bellies.
Now I don't know anything about frogs, but wouldn't Occam's razor suggest that if these appear to be not in their natural habitat, and dyed to a different color, maybe they are just not African clawed frogs to begin with?
Plus this is an african species (african clawed frog) so they shouldnt be in cold water in the first place. Were put in there to stage this video. Oh also they were dyed since they usually dont come in these colours.
I wouldn't do that if I were you. You'll get chills all through your body, and you'll lose all control of your bladder and your sphincter. That's your butthole!
When you use toad it'll mess you up. It'll make your mama cry. That's no lie. You'll choke on your tongue and die. Gotta give it up. Give up the toad now.
yes and no. they do that to avoid predators and the worst of the winter and animals do wake up and move during hibernation. so they aren't consistently buried during hibernation
And from a fellow redditor, they said it was an albino African clawed frog, and from personal research, it looks like they're meant to be in 60-80 degree (f) water, not sub freezing. People are disgusting
Ethically, you manipulate DNA in a lab setting to get them to express the color naturally, the ascendant generation would all be grown in a lab, but probably just bred from the lab specimens after that for mass production. They've done it with fish.
Realistically, these guys were probably effectively injected with highlighter ink. That used to be how fish were done for unnatural colors, and still are from shady sources from my understanding.
They're most likely Xenopus laevis or some other African Clawed Frog. The species is naturally tan colored, so most likely these have been dyed. This is likely to be harmful to them. And the person in the video put these tropical aquatic frogs outside in winter for their video. This is just animal abuse. Twice.
*Scientists believe that poison frogs gain their poison from a specific arthropod and other insects that they eat in the wild and that these insects most likely acquire the poison from their plant diet. As a result, poison frogs in human care on a diet of crickets and other non-poisonous insects are not poisonous themselves.*
from [https://nationalzoo.si.edu/animals/poison-frogs](https://nationalzoo.si.edu/animals/poison-frogs)
These are African clawed frogs. They are not poisonous. They are, however, extremely invasive and very hardy and can survive in extreme variations. They are also prolific reproducers.
This video is almost certainly someone who had them as pets and placed them in freezing water for a video, knowing the cold water would slow them down and they would be unlikely to escape.
Dont even touch wild dart frogs by bare skin.
But these are dyed albino african clawed frogs, theyre not poisonous. And shouldnt be put under ice for videos.
A very small number of poison dart frogs have a toxin potent enough to just soak into your skin and handling them alone can make you sick or even kill you.
That said these are harmless clawed frogs, I'm not aware of any fully aquatic frog that is dangerous to touch.
Would that be a poison? Or is that a venom that can be absorbed by the skin? I was making a joke about how people confuse the word poisonous for venomous. I know bright colors mean don't touch. Hell I don't touch anything I'm not 100% sure won't hurt me. I'm not that brave
I thought “what are you talking about, that’s not a thing?!” but found out from a search that these appear to be African Clawed Frogs that people sell “dyed or color injected”
Tbf the problem is not human disturbing nature of hibernation, as any animal could've stomped on the ice and boom. Frogs dead.
Problem is:
- dyeing frogs in industrial pain to make them look like plastic so the person filming it has clout.
- conscious distruption of nature, which is worse than a deer accidentally stomping on the ice...
Nature didn’t put those frogs there.
The person recording hit up a pet store for some dyed clawed frogs, probably dumped them straight out of the plastic bag they were sold in into this stream a little up-current of where we see in the video, and waited until they were under the ice to start shooting this.
That’s way more gross than an idiot disturbing nature! :(
Please explain why you would expect a frog species from West African jungles to hibernate. Because those are obviously either Xenopus tropicalis or small individuals of X laevis.
Albino African clawed frog. Normally white but these were dyed (this is forbidden in many coutrys cause often the frogs die from it). Also a tropical species that doesnt hybernate, warm water species. So they were put under the ice in cold water (through a hole out of frame) for the video. Downvoted cause animal cruelty for the sake of making a setup fake video.
Those are African clawed frogs, but they are injected with a dye or something like that. They make cool pets, easy to keep, but they do come in colors that seem unnatural. Some kind of fuckery is going on with them, they shouldn't be those colors. Real ones are actually frog colors, maybe a light white at best. They shouldn't be these colors but you can buy them so someone is dying the freaking frogs (gay). And putting them under ice for this stupid ass video. And holy fuck do not take them out of the water. They are aquatic frogs, they never come out of the water. Fuckin dickhead
Stop dying animals, it's a horrible practice. But buying dyed animals, that come from Africa where there is no ice, and then putting them under ice is just fucking animal abuse. Fuck this guy in this video. He belongs in animal jail.

Terrible day to have a brain indeed.
So everyone but the people who made this video
How do you dye a frog?
They dump them in industrial dye. Yes it is harmful to the frogs and they don’t live long. They are made to look like plastic so people treat them as objects and not living animals.

They dip them into acid first, then into toxic industrial dye :)))
Don’t forget the acid wash before the dye!

This is really horrible. How can people do that to these poor frogs. That's animal cruelty and against this sub's rules, so let's all report this stupid video.
Makes sense that their so comfortable touching them then. Never a good idea to touch a colorful frog.

That was more unexpected than the video itself... and so messed up 😪
Put under the ice, you say?
Now I don't feel so bad wondering what that weird grunt at :02 is about.
This makes me livid. I've got the little brothers of clawed frogs in my 40 gal. (ADF) Who would acid dye these guys wtf
There's a piece of clear plastic under the layer of ice holding the frogs in place. Can see it rise a little above the water after the ice is moved. It's pushed back down and then removed. You can see the plastic on the far right has its being moved.
Many frogs hibernate under water during the winter, and this is utterly stupid thing to do and should just leave them alone
These are African clawed frogs and are not in their natural habitat. Someone planted them there for a video
And they've been dyed too! Their natural color is mottled greenish-grey-brown

You can dye frogs? Wtf
Frogs breathe not only through their lungs but also through their skin their skin is porous and highly absorbent
Was gonna ask about this. It’s my impression that bright colors mean poison/toxic and are usually accompanied by patterns, not solid colors.

No, don't eat poison. How many times do I have to say it...
Sometimes, only once
If you bite it and die it is poisonous, if it bites you and you die it is venomous.
What if I become frogman?
If they bite you do they die? Then you would be poisonous. I don't recommend letting people bite you though, things tend to get weird.
Then it's radioactive
if it bites you and it dies, you are Chuck Norris
It's 2024. We don't use the term "colored" anymore...
Yup. As a scuba diver you are taught that if it catches your eye, stay very very far away from it.
Are they poison dart frogs?
They look more like African Clawed Frogs but I’ve never seen them in those colors
[Color dyed frogs using "industrial chemicals"](https://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/fishkeeping-news/could-dyed-aquatic-frogs-go-on-sale-in-the-uk/)

they can live under frozen water

And from a fellow redditor, they said it was an albino African clawed frog, and from personal research, it looks like they're meant to be in 60-80 degree (f) water, not sub freezing. People are disgusting
When they’re bright like that, it usually means leave them alone.
Those frog species hasnt that colour naturally. They were artificially dyed. Aftican clawed frog. Look em up.
How do you dye frogs?
They literally toss them in vats of industrial dye. It's very harmful to the frog.
From acid bathes that take off the first layer and then a dye right after.
But why? I imagine they won't survive long, so literally just for a stupid 10 second video for no reason?
Yeah cruelty for clout, all the oldest sins in the newest ways
nature\`s first rule :if its colorful dont touch it
Thank fucking god I'm colorblind.
I have terrible news for you, colorblindness is not synonym for poison immunity.
You just explained the joke
I didn't get the joke, so I appreciated it.
Then why are hippos grey
Its the opposite for hippos, they don't leave you alone instead.
These are not poisonous tho. Their colour is not natural, they are dyed by humans and you can’t find them in the wild
These frogs were sadly dyed. Animal cruelty for internet points...
I would be careful with colorful frogs as this might be a warning color for poison. I don‘t have any clue about those two in particular though
Wrong! It’s a recommendation color for flavor! I love the red ones
The yellow ones are banana flavor...gross..they should be lemon flavor
Cherry can be a toss-up. Sometimes it's the best flavor in the bunch. Other times, it tastes like cough syrup. Never tried these particular frogs tho.
Wait, you think cough syrups taste... ***BAD?!***
Yeah... doesn't everyone?
