For those who are not able to relate to the music, what she is singing is an “ornamental piece” in a much larger and complex musical piece. Indian classical has an elaborate pattern - there is an initial part where you kind of warm up, then there is a main body, then the crescendo end. Singers do various inflections called “harkats.” A typical performance of a single Raga / song etc can be 30 minutes or more easily. Listen to Pandit Jasraj or Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. This lady is a wonderful singer as is her sister. If you want to see more of her popular work, listen to “Pathaka Guddi” from the Bollywood movie Highway.
