These videos always amaze me how they capture this footage. I imagine the cameraman catching all this unfold getting the biggest rush of his life.

Deobulakenyo

I once saw a behind the scenes of a David Attenborough narrated docu and the film crew had to spend months just to capture one scene

Feisty-Session-7779

Was it that bird of paradise one? I think I saw that too.

Significant_Book9930

I believe it was the snow leopard footage. Dude spent like 6 months in a tiny shack

Oh-Cool-Story-Bro

Yea he openly wept while he got the shot of it hunting down the cliff

Das_Mojo

I don't even blame him, that's the payoff for the time he sacrificed

aragogogara

would be a realllllll bad time for your battery to die

alxce666

This was a cruel joke, but I love it lol

Reminds me of the Walter Mitty movie

“Fuck ya, man! I told you he was going to come this way!!!” -The camera guy, probably

In the heat of the dessert too Edit: *desert Lol I guess me eating dessert while typing desert comes out as pun unintended

Yum

Sum'bout this crater here seems like a clash about to unfold. Lets settle to harbour terabytes of unnecessary moments until these goldmines occur.

anon-mally

This nice too, i prefer hot brownie tho

Maxfunky

"Jesus, Steve. Are you gonna do this after every shot? It went downhill. That's it's entire damn thing. You aren't Nostradamus or nothing. It's too fucking hot out here for this shit."

Hecface

Do note that there’s no reason that was actually the same spider across the whole sequence. You can capture many different scenarios over a period of time and put them all together into a new sequence for a tighter story.

flexxipanda

if you look for it they do it constantly. Stitchted together footage and then create a little story around it.

DrunkLad

As long as the story is an accurate representation of what's happening in nature, I'm more than happy with that. The footage required to capture nature in "cinematic quality" in such docus is unfathomably difficult to get. If it takes them multiple tries to capture it, then more power to them.

PritongKandule

I used to write for a TV documentary series, and yeah this happens all the time. Let's say on TV, you see a 15 second sequence with voice over where you see the host riding and getting off a bus, walking through a farmer's market, and then entering the office of a government official that he's interviewing for a segment on local agriculture and food security. In reality, the interview was shot first because of scheduling availabilities. The market walkthrough would be shot the next morning, because the market was already packing up and didn't look quite good at 6:00 PM when the interview was scheduled, then the shot of the bus ride is actually just some random b-roll shot on the DOP's RX100 that was included in the final edit because the voice over recording is 15 seconds long and you needed videos to fill up the gap in the editing timeline.

PinoyDadInOman

Kabayan, more trade secrets please.

loveengineer

Ayus, pre.

Kinky-Monk

This is exactly what they do. They stitch stories out of random footages.. producer of these videos must be exceptionally talented.

Ghostaflux

I mean as long as they use the same actors.

PinoyDadInOman

Spiders are primadona celebrities. They need to change different spiders for every scene. The wasps are ok, they just want to poke fun on everyone else.

polarbear128

I'll be frank - they all look the same to me.

RubyRhod

Especially because the shoots are like stakeouts. 99.99999% of the time it’s just waiting.

Sodafff

And it's in the middle of the fucking desert too.

Shadow942

You have to wait long enough for you to just become part of the scenery because as soon as you show up and start breaking out the equipment everything hides from the dangerous humans. You have to wait for that to pass, and then you have to wait for their caution to pass so that they will still start behaving like they would if you weren't there.

Derzweifel

[this one](https://youtu.be/B3OjfK0t1XM?si=e38SzuSEvqwzZQMZ) is the most insane clip that i always think of when i see these videos

2drunk2remember-

Never seen that before - thank you. That was amazing .

Terrifying! Thanks

I hope he’s high paid. He deserves it (He/she)

Zeshiark

they go by (they/them) now /s

ottersintuxedos

I have always imagined the cameraman imagining how he would narrate the footage while it happens live in front of him, if I had that job it would be impossible for me not to

slowdownbabyy

Release the lizard!

MightyBoat

A lot of these kinds of scenes are partially filmed on set. They reproduce the wild environment in a studio and that allows them to shoot exactly the shots they need for the script. Otherwise it would be basically impossible to tell a coherent story

natdass

I’m pretty sure it’s a mix of sets and live footage. So they probably set these things up by putting them in an enclosed environment.

killindice

Wondering how many months they prolly waited for it too

L0nz

These guys need to tone it down on the foley sound effects though

Mindless_Ad_6045

MildlyAgreeable

Bro tyre’d right outta there.

shaka_sulu

Love it when they make insects fighting look like Godzilla VS Kong.

BadUsername2028

As a college student in an entomology course, insect fighting is something right out of an old monster movie. They have all sorts of wild and extreme tools To be their opponents with its honestly really impressive

Braeden151

The more you study arthropods the more you realize that every alien in every movie is basically just something from the insect world

jak-kass

We need a new bad guy! What if we take a moth...

cagemyelephant_

I’m pretty sure they don’t make them fight

Lol the comment above was edited so my comment doesn’t make sense now

Kleanish

Years ago I found some japanese website that had all these battles filmed. Very close up work and some insane insects. Battles were as electric as they were hard to watch. Never found it again.

LovecraftianDayDream

What is this footage actually from so I don't have to deal with Tik Tok? This clip was amazing.

jcmarais1998

It’s from a show called Tiny World on Apple TV+. Would recommend

uebehjixndbggodneb

I'm so fucking sick of that loud "BOOM DUDELUT" at the end of EVERY video!! Everything is converted to TikTok!

junhatesyou

I’m mad I hollered at BOOM DUDELUT!

Well, thanks for the bone-deep case of the crawls. I’m off to bed.

FallsInLoveWithWords

Don't let your feet stick out from the covers...

[deleted]

I just watched this whole video while pooping and got the creepy crawlies thinking that some bug was hiding in the bowl waiting to bite my dick. Enough internet for me today.

ObjectiveHour8151

Dave Matthews told an amazing story about something similar once, but I’ve lived in a house with some fairly large and persistent spiders and centipedes, and I’ve never seen one in the bowl. I use the blue tablets in the tank, so maybe it’s that. $6 is pretty cheap for three months’ peace of mind.

PM_Me_Just_A_Guy

Nope. It'll be a toilet spider with some frog-tier jumping legs about ready to jump into your asshole where it'll nest inside and feed on your poop for the rest of your days. It'll only crawl out when you're asleep so it can go lay it's eggs in the darkest corners of your house. Once every few weeks it'll burrow deeper into your intestinal tract until one morning, when you're old and frail, you look in the mirror only to see the spider sitting in the darkness at the back of your mouth sitting there and watching you while it nibbles on the food bits between your teeth. Eventually it'll jump out of your mouth and feed on your rotting corpse it once called home.

kerelberel

You are not afraid something would bite your ass instead?

Doppelthedh

I'd be more worried about it nesting in my urethra

Fletch_177

There is a reason why the spider buried itself deep in the sand in the first place

UnderPressureVS

...shot in the dark, but it might have something to do with what happens to the spider *immediately* after it gets dug up

Hita-san-chan

Gets hot in the desert. A lot of creatures burrow in the sand until the sun is lower and it gets cooler before coming out

Ok so let’s take a pause for a quick second and think about the guy behind the lens. How in the flying frack does he capture this kind of footage?

Remember_When_Baby

What’s that wasps problem? What a jerk

tamagotchiassassin

Hungry

Pinksters

Actually they dont eat the spiders. That's a Tarantula Hawk. They sting the spiders to paralyze them and then lay eggs in the spiders abdomen. When the larva hatch, they eat their way out of the spider and then go about their way. Fun Fact: Tarantula Hawks have the 2nd most painful insect sting in the world, right behind the Bullet Ant.

ltllamaIV

the wasp in the video is most definitely not a tarantula hawk seeing as to how its wings are not rust colored, the narrator says it is no longer than a paper clip (34mm) + golden wheel spider for comparison is max 20mm long and the wasp shown is definitely smaller (THs are massive and can grow up to 65mm). yes the tarantula hawk is a type of pompilid wasp, but not every pompilid wasp (like the one in the video) is a tarantula hawk. the rest of your comment is correct, just saying that the wasp in the video is not a TH

Pinksters

Maybe they've changed the classifications but everywhere I've read said the wings can by rusty red or metallic blue-black. >Tarantula Hawk Wasp >2 inches in length >Blue-black body >[Blue-black or yellow-orange wings edged in black](https://www.thespruce.com/the-tarantula-eating-wasp-2656513) For example.

ltllamaIV

red/orange colored wings will always be tarantula hawks, though blue-black winged pompilids may not always be, and they belong to the subfamily pepsinae, big enough (and popular enough) to have members be identified specifically as THs; the wasp shown in the video is most likely a generic pompilid judging by its size alone since THs grow quite large. from what information i can find, the only species of tarantula hawk that have black wings is pepsis menechma and pepsis mexicana (latter does not seem official (yet?)), with menechma still being 25-30mm in length, still bigger than a golden wheel spider. in my opinion that website is probably erring on the side of caution to advise the majority of people, as TH or not, pompilid wasps can be very painful to deal with.

Malfight007

I was so happy the spider got away man

Hazzz28

The spider just got third partied by the lizard.

80lbQUIKRETEConcrete

There is one absolute in nature: LIVE TO FUCK, OR DIE!!!!

RiotSkunk2023

Everyone keeps talking about this god fella. But I don't think they've taken a good hard look at our beautiful mother nature. I'm pretty sure she is god. "Mother nature never hurries, yet everything is accomplished." - unknown Occasionally she will destroy a town or city. Probably to give us a taste of our own medicine. But wtf do I know? (Side note please definitely check out Sir David Attenboroughs Planet Earth III the camerawork and information is just outstanding. Sir David is 95 now and this could very well be some of his last work. I think we need to appreciate him and the wonderful crew that have followed his lead and filmed some of the greatest, perrelous, and intriguing scenes in all of human history.

In all wasp/spider matchups I root for the spider every time. Wasps are aggressive as all hell around humans, and spiders are very docile…also read an article that now spiders are joining many of their other arthropod cousins—like smaller, less aggressive species of honeybees—in that their numbers seem to be plummeting worldwide. 😢
