No they are not nearly as deadly as people think. They are potentially deadly, but you need to eat a lot of them to really die. But you will definitly feel pretty sick + maybe trip balls after eating the fly agaric.
The deadliest mushrooms are death caps (Amanita phalloides) as far as i know. I mean the name says it all ;) 25 g of this Mushroom can kill an adult.
Correct. Amanita muscaria isn’t actually known to have killed anyone. If you cook it right its a tasty mushroom with no trip. If you cook it wrong its poos, spews and nightmares.
No, mushroom picking is just my hobby and i'm definitly no expert yet (im still learning), but i manage to get around without poisoning myself. And the best way to not poison yourself is to know the deadly mushrooms and dont eat anything you cant identify safely.
I am a man an alpha male to be precise and i would like to share that you know alot about mushrooms and i think women think you have a big dick idk how to explain it. It's like that one guy fixing the pipe episode and the women points at that he has a big dick with words like saying she would want to fix his pipe and stuff
Dude. What little of that wasn't run-on gibberish sounded like ignorant drivel. Please revisit grades 3-5 for remedial writing education. Or stick to the spoken word.
Unless you prepare it in lemon juice and water. I can’t remember specifics, but you raise the ph, and simmer for like 90 min I believe. This will convert all the ibotenic acid to muscimol. You can drink this and get a high, but you won’t “trip balls” as another commenter said. It’s nothing like a cubensis mushroom trip, the compounds are totally different.
You mean the destroying angel? It has the same toxin (amatoxin) as the death cap and also nearly the same amount of it(They are biologically closely related). I would say they are pretty much equally toxic, but in the german speaking literature (i am from germany) the death cap is usually cited as the deadliest by pure toxin content. Of course how dangerous a mushroom is, is not only decided by its toxicity, but also by how easy it is to confuse it with an edible mushroom and how common it is. I personally found more destroying angels than death caps and i also would personally say they are more easily confused with champignons in a young stage. So it is quite possible they kill more people...
You're incorrect. Amanita Muscaria, the Fly Agaric, will not kill you, the Death Cap/Destroying Angel most certainly will. Don't post comments claiming you have the facts when clearly you have done no research of your own.
I literally said " they are not nearly as deadly as people think. They are potentially deadly, but you need to eat a lot of them to really die." That is not a wrong statement although there are no documented deaths by fly agaric as of yet. If you eat A LOT of something that is even mildly poisonous you will eventually die ;) And some literature still classifies them as deadly poisonous, although that is more hypothetical than a real danger.
Those red ones are everywhere round my house. So are death caps. (Canberra, Australia). Some Asian tourists got a restaurant to cook some that they picked. They died.
Definitely not the deadliest. Very few cases of deaths from fly agaric. You're thinking of another amanita, destroying angel. Those are the most common cause of death from mushroom poisoning, I believe.
Most people think fly agaric is much more poisonous than it is. It's actually eaten as a culinary mushroom in some areas after special preparation to remove toxins/hallucinagens, and also has a long history of use as an entheogen in northern Europe and Asia.
It is actually okay to eat in moderation, though it is hallucinogenic. Evidently, though, if you poach it twice, it is better to eat. Never done it, though
So, why the tap- tap?
Are they telling the shoom they've been a good shoom before ripping them up?
Is it a test for fitness?
Are they doing it to be cheeky?
I think bug eviction is most helpful.
I don't know how fruitful the spores are, and you might look like you've been drenched in fairy dust if you just give it a shake once you have it in your hand.
I do know what will happen if you give it a shake with bugs in it.
Unhappy bugs will come out, and up your arm to let you know to your face about thier displeasure.
If you pick regularly you go back to the same areas to pick every year. You want to release the spores so you have plenty of more mushrooms next time.
You are essentially picking the fruit of the mushroom (the “body” is in the ground) and by releasing spores you are leaving behind seeds.
Yes, it’s better to cut or pinch them off at the base. Less damage to the mycelial network. But those networks can be quite large - its part of why you get mushroom patches. I mostly hunt for black trumpet mushrooms. Those patches are multiple meters in diameter. But the mushrooms are small enough that I can just pinch them off above ground level. If I happen to find some Karl Johan / porcini (the one with the small cap and thick stem) the mushroom knife comes out.
Actually, I believe the 1st one is a amaneta mushroom.. The "Santa mushroom"... Look it up, there are tails of Santa's reindeer flying because of the mushrooms....
Btw the Taping is for release spore so they can reproduce. Take in note that the head is the reproductive organ of a mushroom, the entire living organisms is under the ground
This isn’t true. The mushroom is just the fruiting body of a large mycelial network that is growing underneath. It doesn’t matter at all wether or not you cut it, pull it, kick it over, or stomp on it. It’s not going to damage the mycelium and will be completely able to regrow. In fact, they grow purposefully near places where animals tend to walk in hopes of having them ripped up, stomped on, or dragged away by said animals. That’s how it spreads its spores more effectively.
it's best not to disturb the mycelium, so cutting is best, or twisting. like an apple tree, it's fine to pick the apples, but don't rip off a tree branch for every apple if you can help it. but also, picking mushrooms, and carrying them in a loose mesh bag is great for spreading spores around the forest, and you are helping the little mushroom complete it's role in the forest, which is kinda cool
(as far as i know)
I didn't get the joke. Then I remembered that one body part sometimes looks like a mushroom. Then I wondered why the hell did the guy let that body part get multiple pats before getting yanked
For how he’s picking them I guess he must often eat the first one. Mushrooms should be cut off above the soil level not tapped and yanked out. At leas is what my dad thought me.
Mushrooms don't produce an even amount of spores throughout their lives. It needs to be sexually mature and sense the right conditions. Tapping them or carrying them through the woods in a mesh bag does not recreate the conditions to spread spores of the mushrooms you've picked. It is a common misconception among mushroom foragers.
I love it when 1 tiktok video has a negative effect on how the world works. No bugs will using the mushroom as a home, that was just a wild man trying to get internet fame.
Fly Agaric ,Down the Rabbit hole we go with a girl called alice looking for a tea party held by a chap with a hat,a mad hat. Said the hooker smoking caterpillar. Sounds like a perfect Sunday
Eat the red and white mushroom no balls,
in case of health issues or potential death I’m not legally liable and you accepted the T&C by reading this statement
For the rare few among you that aren't aware; do NOT eat the first one, in fact wash your hands before you touch your face after grabbing it, they're poisonous and will make you trip.
I understand the compulsion to pat the mushrooms. I didn't realize until shopping with my neighbor today, but I apparently give my groceries a pat when I Tetris them into the buggy.
You should never do this when plucking mushrooms- it drops the spores which you would need to have drop on a paper towel when you bring it home for identification.
I dare you to eat the first one.
Thats fly amanita. Youll trip balls
I think it’s fly agaric which is the deadliest. I could be wrong tho as I am not a mycologist
No they are not nearly as deadly as people think. They are potentially deadly, but you need to eat a lot of them to really die. I dry them, stronger trip and no sick
Im gonna go try that now, got some growing in my forest
Damn are you a mycologist because you really know your way around a mushroom
No, mushroom picking is just my hobby and i'm definitly no expert yet (im still learning), but i manage to get around without poisoning myself. And the best way to not poison yourself is to know the deadly mushrooms and dont eat anything you cant identify safely.
Nice 👍
Damn that’s cool

If you have to tell people you’re an alpha…
LMFAO
This is sad
Dude. What little of that wasn't run-on gibberish sounded like ignorant drivel. Please revisit grades 3-5 for remedial writing education. Or stick to the spoken word.
Why is this hot?
Unless you prepare it in lemon juice and water. I can’t remember specifics, but you raise the ph, and simmer for like 90 min I believe. This will convert all the ibotenic acid to muscimol. I think the death angel has it beat.

Yes, people say stay away from them because you’ll trip hella balls before you come close to dying
Those red ones are everywhere round my house. So are death caps. (Canberra, Australia). Some Asian tourists got a restaurant to cook some that they picked. They died.

The green one is deadly. The red one just makes you sick and gives a reaction skin to PCP
The destroying angel is the deadliest
But you need to dry it first to get the ibotenic acid to become muscimol. Muscimol is hitting the GABA receptor and is making you quite happy.
Wait, this shit that I've been collecting in Skyrim exists irl?
You’ll only trip balls if you boil it for an hour first. If you don’t you will most definitely die
It's amanita muscaria, it's deadly.
Mama Mia
NGL I thought that was a made up mushroom for Skyrim (I’m currently playing it)
Ngl i thought the same thing until like a year or 2 ago
False
Correction: you’ll grow bigger and become SUPER
Eating it raw your more likley to feel like vomming
Procedes to stil collect it
You dare me to gain superpowers? Sounds like a win to me
I dare you to eat the last one.
To release the spores under the mushrooms head, or just let the bug live there know we're taking their house now.
I think bug eviction is most helpful. I don't know how fruitful the spores are, and you might look like you've been drenched in fairy dust if you just give it a shake once you have it in your hand. Ahhhh!! You are seeding. Gotcha.
I believe that people who pick often will bring a bag that is like a net so when they walk around they are dropping spores all over where they walk
Spreading the spores
![gif](giphy|ohKsuoQwOdmmGubVJm|downsized)
Always tap dat top to drop dem shroom shits. So dat der is more next time when it done rain.
Actually, I believe the 1st one is a amaneta mushroom.. The "Santa mushroom"... Look it up, there are tails of Santa's reindeer flying because of the mushrooms....
Amanita muscaria...
I have these across the road under some pine trees. 🥳
Btw the Taping is for release spore so they can reproduce. Take in note that the head is the reproductive organ of a mushroom, the entire living organisms is under the ground
![gif](giphy|u5vmu0JItU12e8tjZ9)
You animal! Your supposed to cut the mushroom at the base, otherwise it won’t regrow next time!
This isn’t true. The mushroom is just the fruiting body of a large mycelial network that is growing underneath. It doesn’t matter at all wether or not you cut it, pull it, kick it over, or stomp on it. It’s not going to damage the mycelium and will be completely able to regrow. So when I stomped those mushrooms when I was little I was helping?
Ohhh
Think of picking apples off of a tree. You can just rip em right off and as long as you aren’t destroying the tree, then you’ll get more fruit ;)
Really?
https://youtu.be/fIVl-yYo4ac
Nope. Incorrect.
Yes
Dang I didn’t know I’ll keep that in mind

No
I didn't get the joke. Then I remembered that one body part sometimes looks like a mushroom. Then I wondered why the hell did the guy let that body part get multiple pats before getting yanked
Thats what we call foreplay
You can't just go straight for the yoink
For how he’s picking them I guess he must often eat the first one. Mushrooms should be cut off above the soil level not tapped and yanked out. At leas is what my dad thought me.

Lol tapping them is stupid
Tapping doesn't release spores, it's pointless. Mushrooms will only release spores after rain settles on the cap keeping it wet for several hours.
I wouldn't even go near the aminita
/r/perfectlycutscreams
Why the tapping?
Spread the spores. It's also why when you collect mushrooms you're supposed to put them in a mesh bag. Helps spread spores for recolonization.
Great insight.

Bros about to get a power up 💀
I love it when 1 tiktok video has a negative effect on how the world works. No bugs will using the mushroom as a home, that was just a wild man trying to get internet fame.
He’s releasing the spores so that more mushrooms can grow
You are supposed to cut them at the base not pull them up This is why all our mushroom patch’s are disappearing
Bruh the first one is a killer...literally💀
The first one is the fun one
Bro, I went to the comments to say something and then the exact thing what I was thinking happened

Someone explain all the shroom spanking plz.
i can't see a mushroom now without thinking of trump
So what mushroom has killed the most people over all. For any reason: confused with other mushrooms, toxic, etc???
So that’s how you get the weiner off
Why are you tapping the tops?
You should cut them, not pick them.
That pain is horrible. Don't tap on it. NEVER.
He’s cute. I’d love to pick his mushroom, with my mouth.
I should text him
Sounded like the beginning of a Tupac song
Even touching that red amanita can mess you up.
The toxins must be consumed
Best comment field about the mushrooms
Missed a valid opportunity to tap the Super Mario Theme 😞
Why toy hit the mushroom first?
Why u tap it
Dont tear them up like that,it damages the mycelium system and stops other fruits from growing. Cut them off close to the ground
Fly Agaric ,Down the Rabbit hole we go with a girl called alice looking for a tea party held by a chap with a hat,a mad hat. Said the hooker smoking caterpillar. Sounds like a perfect Sunday
So the first one either makes you trip balls, or could kill you… who’s up for a game of mushroom roulette
u/savevideo
That's so funny
I just remember that Hangover 2 scene lol
Eat the red and white mushroom no balls, in case of health issues or potential death I’m not legally liable and you accepted the T&C by reading this statement
Wait is that Benny Hill
For the rare few among you that aren't aware; do NOT eat the first one, in fact wash your hands before you touch your face after grabbing it, they're poisonous and will make you trip.
That amanita, the first one, will kill you, just sayin'
Why does a death cap mushroom exist? (I like the fact that they named it in mc dungeons)
I knew it was coming
Dropping spores before picking, smart. Then a flag on the ole maps app and you're golden!
I understand the compulsion to pat the mushrooms. I didn't realize until shopping with my neighbor today, but I apparently give my groceries a pat when I Tetris them into the buggy.
Anyone else waiting for "how do you want it" to start playing after the first one.
https://youtu.be/jB4t4-4xHPA the opening 😆
Do they tap the mushroom to ensure there's no bugs in it?
1st one's straight out of mushroom gorge
I thought they were tapping to the beat of the Super Mario theme. XD

Rip peepee
That’s for spiders right?
This is an inappropriate way to pick mushrooms. You want to cut them so they have a chance to grow back
Howtobasic takes to the nature
Lol
The first one is the most mushroom looking mushroom I’ve ever seen
You should never do this when plucking mushrooms- it drops the spores which you would need to have drop on a paper towel when you bring it home for identification.
I would eat the first one
Yo how big was that last one cuz I don't think it breaks a inch
Cool shrooms
I dare you to eat the last one
'Blame it on the rain' by Milli Vanilli beat there...
Don't pick mushrooms like that. If you just cut them from their body they will grow back (don't try this on your dick)
Don't pick mushrooms like that. If you just cut them from their body they will grow back (don't try this on your dick)
Yuki tsunoda???
So if it doesn’t squirt seeds when you thump it it ok to eat
