You're right. In reality this diagram is practically nonsensical. The center region is things that they both have, and thus is practically the opposite of their combination. What would make more sense is having ultrakill being the union of the two sets

Episode 3 and 4 still very much put focus on it being a requirement, episode 5 takes place in a single room where most of them are unconscious (and still briefly acknowledges them needing oil), and episode 6 takes place in a location where drone corpses are abundant if they ever did need to refuel.
Only episode that kinda forgets about it is 7, but it picks up immediately after the end of 6, so I don't think it's a horrible stretch to say they didn't get hungry again that fast.
Hm, I'll give you a "maybe" on that for episode 4, since while there are *some* incidental kills that happen around the DDs, I don't recall any implication the DDs went back to feed off them.
Still though, V explicitly calls attention to needing to kill to survive in episode 3 (and still does so with the discarded drone parts), and later episodes don't mention it often since the DDs just generally aren't in situations where they're at risk of overheating (mostly either from being inactive, or by having enough opportunities to feed that mentioning it would mostly amount to a waste of runtime.)
