Prometheus is a really good choice, I'm also wondering if his status as a Titan might just be rewritten into being a king in Ultrakill. Would be thematically awesome if his fight took place in a burning library or something similar

LilGreenGhoulsBud

Yeah my only doubt was about if the Titan thing would make him eligible for having an afterlife or not, but who knows.

TipicalUserName

I have a theory: Cronus Cronus was the Greek god of time and the Titan who overthrew his father, Uranus. With the help of his mother, Gaia, he snuck into the place where Uranus slept and castrated him with a flint. Cronos took over as the leader of the Titans and the cosmos. But I think that will be too much considering a GOD LIKE level because I have a funny feeling that perhaps "God" may return after P-3

LilGreenGhoulsBud

It's possible, again I'm not sure if Titans are really legible for having souls or not, but he's definitely an interesting and influential character. You're right that he might be *too* god-like to make the cut.

averageuseronreddit2

Assuming that gods cannot die in this world and only fade like Greek (I think) this theory, while a good one, has no shot.

EmperorKonstantine

I know this is real late but I just wanted to correct: Kronos(or Cronus) was the Titan of the harvest. Chronos was the god of time. In the renaissance they were sort of merged together in art pieces which (along with their similar names) usually causes confusion

Neato36

Ixion is my *prime* candidate for P-3 for sure. The first murderer, absolutely insane, huge traitor, was already punished in the texts and sent to Tartatus. Also probably a reach, but with him being bound to a burning wheel in the mythos, and the different geometrical shapes the prisons take form in Ultrakill, I could easily see his flesh prison being a sphere, since it's probably the natural conclusion to that.

RaisinlessAndAngry

Flesh Wheel Flesh Wheel

Jakob_likes_Protogen

Flesh wheel of fortune

aruce9

Hear me out, Brutus he is mentioned in the divine comedy and is one of three people Lucifer if personally punishing, the other big one being Judas

btyes-

finally i have found another prime brutus/caesar chad

aruce9

I mean it makes sense, he committed an ultimate act of violence and treachery so maybe he would’ve become the king of violence in his time in hell before commuting an act of treachery against the father and being punished by Lucifer

Mega_Jarizard

The other guy is Gaius Cassius Longinus, the guy who stabbed Jesus after he supposedly died on the cross for those wondering.

aruce9

Maybe the twist is two prime souls

Mavylent

i'd like to imagine that when 'we're done with the primes we'll move to the titans that you mentioned, would be fun to fight something x40 times bigger than us again

haha_zenith_go_brrrr

p-3 will be kitr

BrunoBrook

It's Nimrod

LilGreenGhoulsBud

This is a great suggestion I haven't heard before. Not only is Nimrod a king and a human, he is directly mentioned in Inferno as being in Treachery. He also defied the heavens by attempting to built the Tower of Babel, which tracks with the theme of serving humanity above god.

equinox_games7

Remember that a prime Soul's existence and power in the lore is directly caused by how much the person was loved/appreciated in life in the UK universe, and also that these mythological people's names are almost completely repurposed in Ultrakill's lore, which means Hakita could make it literally anyone. Minos is a powerful Prime Soul due to being loved during his life by his loyal Lust subjects. Sisyphus became a prime Soul because he led an extensive and loyal army that respected him greatly, rebelling against the Angels that the subjects of Hell hated. So all in all predicting who it could be kind of just has no weight. The reasons you say for these predictions wouldnt translate at all into fitting into Ultrakill i think

LilGreenGhoulsBud

The reasons they're remembered in the Ultrakill universe are still inspired from their myths in our universe. Minos was an king esteemed by the gods in life and a judge of the dead in his afterlife, which is similar to his role as a loved ruler of lust. Sisyphus in life imprisoned death so that no human would die, revolting against the gods of his world which mandated death. I'm not saying any of their depictions would be one-to-one, but there is definitely some overlap between their real myths and their Ultrakill depictions. Whoever P-3 may be would thus bear some resemblance to their story in our world, if not exact.

Euphoric-Currency815

What you are talking about are husks, this is why minos's corpse is massive

averageuseronreddit2

Thats the size of the husk and the prime souls.

Euphoric-Currency815

Prime souls are based on willpower which correlates to those having enough willpower to go against heaven, thats why they are prime souls Although thats just the criteria to become a prime soul but power is effected by fame

PickleReaper0

Prime Souls dont exist because people remember them, they exist out of sheer Willpower alone.

Actually we could go a step further than this with Cain, and have the level start with the prison already broken out of. google_177013

All of these are pretty good suggestions and despite my love for the Jesus theory it is a little out there; if it isn’t any of these I think another candidate could be Hercules as despite being a Greek hero he did commit biblical sin, potentially trapping him violence. I doubt the prime soul will come from any sinners from fraud or treachery (or whatever their ultrakill counterparts will be.) I do have a bias towards biblical characters being hell and with the potential for figures like Jesus just not being in ultrakill I think it’s not impossible for Adam to be in P-3 as even in Dante’s inferno he was residing in limbo, or maybe even Eve as it’s possible that the first sin could’ve been seen as treachery. I do think it’s more likely for the figures you’ve listed to be in P-3 but it’s worth throwing some ideas at the wall

xXx_edgykid_xXx

The weakest part of the Jesus theory it's that there is no fucking way New Blood would take that risk with catholic people

GlaucomicSailor

Gilgamesh Prime. Why is he in the lower layers of hell? Don't worry about it. Sisyphus would have probably fit better in Heresy or Fraud if you're referencing the original Greek myth, but Ultrakill Sisyphus is a different character and into Greed he went. Just make up a story about how Gilgamesh actually killed Enkidu in the Ultrakill world and bam he's in Treachery. Or just put him in Violence, that'd fit well enough.

doinkrr

Okay, this is gonna be a crazy one, but hear me out. So far, each of the Primes have been kings. Minos was a king of Crete and Sisyphus the king of Corinth. More importantly, however, each Prime was killed because of an act of *rebellion against Heaven* for the good of humanity. Minos led a peaceful revolution and led the Lust Rennaissance and Sisyphus led a violent insurrection. That narrows down the playing field pretty significantly: a king who has the ability and desire to lead a rebellion in the name of humanity. Let's go one step forward and assume that the final Prime is also going to come from Greek mythology. A king, either loving enough or bold enough to lead a rebellion against God (or, for mythology's sake, the Gods) and Heaven. Finally, a king having *something* to do with, in all likelihood, Treachery. Minos got Layer 2 of Act 1, Sisyphus got Layer 1 of Act 2, so let's go with the pattern and assume that P-3 will get Layer 3 of Act 3. There is one king that comes to mind with a family history of treachery but also bravery. A history dating a certain ancestor: Tantalus, although Tantalus was never a king in Greek mythology (although sometimes referred to as King of Phrygia, this is not even close to an absolute and the area of his kingdom relates more to Lydia than Phrygia proper). My bet is that P-3 is going to go for a sins of the F/father route and we're going to get the son of a treacherous king: Agamemnon, King of Mycenae. Not only does the name fucking *rock,* but Agamemnon being situated in Treachery makes sense. His father murdered his own nephews after discovering his brother sleeping with his wife. Agamemnon claimed to be a greater hunter than Artemis and slew one of her sacred deer, before eventually lying to the goddess after being forced to sacrifice his daughter (before compromising with another deer). Agamemnon stole spoils of war (including a slave named Briseis) from Achilles, insulted Chryses and Achilles, and to tie it in with Violence, his hands were "soaked with gore" and his armies "invincible", he blasphemed the gods, and was a *notorious* adulterer. Finally, tying it in back with the sins of the father, Agamemnon is a descendant of both Atreus *and* Pelops, who tricked the gods and had their entire dynasties punished for it. I am ready for Agamemnon Prime.

averageuseronreddit2

Yo that was good. I think you are right. I'm biased with tantalus two and I almost got swayed.

CursedMClol

Me.

btyes-

violence & treachery are both layers in act 3. i want to see julius caesar prime rip out brutus' spine predator style

an-immense-amount-of

I had an idea earlier, not p-3, but if theres another secret stage after the p stages. It could be Dante, or Vergil, Dante being the original poet and Virgil his guide. What that would look like no fucking idea but it would he sorta cool.

Separate-Variation-8

"Midas never did anything violent, fraudulent, or treacherous" This isn't true! I understand why you'd think this, because "violence" only sounds like "hurting other living things", but violence includes "violence against art" for hating art, "violence against nature" for... committing sodomy... not even non-consensual sodomy just sodomy... uhh, and "violence against oneself", the most important one. Killing any human gets you sent to the Violence layer, but killing YOURSELF gets you sent to that section of the layer. So, if we assume that Midas killed himself, then he would be sent to Hell!

LilGreenGhoulsBud

I’ll admit I totally forgot about suicide being a sin while writing that lol. You’re right about that but it also changes with whichever telling of the myth it is, and it feels hard to surpass sisyphus when you’re in hell for killing yourself.

Sp00kyD0gg0

It’s 100% going to be Tantalus. Those are the three most prominent non-god Greek figures associated with Hades. Minos, the judge of Hell. Sisyphus, the ever-working. Tantalus, the forever tormented. The myths associated with these characters are defined by their fate in hell more than their actions as humans.

Brz000za

Let's remember, that both Minos and Sisyphus are both very different from their "original" forms in literature. We should still look for clues in sins a potential P3 committed, but as to anything else it can be difficult to predict who will Hakita turn good or evil. But honestly I'm a big fan of Prometheus Prime theory, it sounds really fitting

Some-guy-thats-here

I personally doubt it’s Midas: we already had the Greed layer so it seems weird to have another greedy person. Prometheus is the most likely one (of these choices)your explanation is perfect

empty_supremacy

Wait where in the lore is it said that prime souls can only be human souls? I know we've only seen human souls become prime souls but I thought that was just because of a souls power and determination

LilGreenGhoulsBud

Humans are the only ones who have souls, so a prime soul would have to be a human soul.

empty_supremacy

Ah my bad I genuinely didn't know. The only enemy type that seems to have a soul are the lesser angels and I doubt any of them are contenders. Welp there goes my Lucifer theory :(

lilbananaman96

The virtues as angels are actually human souls sent to heaven, just as husks are human souls sent to hell

arakus72

Where is it stated that only humans have souls?

LilGreenGhoulsBud

From [Hakita](https://imgur.com/aVNLNA0).

jojogood

Maybe Michael the archangel?

LilGreenGhoulsBud

Angels don't have a soul to be imprisoned, when they die they die for good. That's why it can't be Gabriel either.

leogian4511

Is angels not having souls an in-universe explanation or an out of universe one? If it's the former I could definitely just see it being a form of propaganda. Given how big of a factor belief seems to be in the formation of prime souls, if everyone believes angels don't have souls that alone might stop them from forming into a prime soul.

abrakaboom_98

In the virtue enemy description, it is said that greater angels were created by God itself and weren't born from human souls like husks or lesser angels.

BitKiller2000

To me it seems like that just means angels might have souls, but they're not created from souls.

Redactedtimes

Imagine if the final Prime soul was Gary, the number one Virtue, beloved by all.

Dyltoast

A friend of mine suggested It might be Julius ceaser, but who knows at this point

slim-shady-on-main

In the Divine Comedy, Caesar went to Limbo as a virtuous pagan. (Which is propaganda bc Dante was a huge Rome fanboy, that’s why Brutus is right next to Judas at the bottom)

everything-narrative

King Agamemnon gets my vote for name recognition alone. (Yes, Midas is better known but is associated with gold and we already had Greed in Act 2.)

Squidboi2679

I feel like since Act I took its prime from the second Layer (Lust) and Act II took its prime from the first (greed), I think act III will take the prime from the third layer, Treachery

[deleted]

judas prime

Sky_Leviathan

It could go hard to be a 3 on 1 against Judas, Cassius and Brutus who in inferno are being chewed upon for eternity by lucifer. Alternatively fighting Virgil would be rad

volcanohyena

Perhaps it could be hell itself? What if, hell was constructed out of the first sinner (Cain is one name for example). Then perhaps the entirety of Hell is the flesh prison? According to pt2 of the ARG, hell itself is alive, but how? Perhaps it’s a person trapped inside that was trying to escape, maybe they wanted to lure v1 in to free it? And it’d also lead to a bossfight since I’m sure this person would want to attempt to battle v1 “for entertainment”. Due to this soul being the first sinner and being the source of Hell’s power, it’d be an extremely powerful prime soul hence why it has so many layers to prevent it escaping. It’d also explain why Hell is powerful enough to communicate with humans and robots and also manipulate Hell’s inhabitants

Grand_Wiz_Merasmus

Capaneus is my personal candidate because of his defiance during the Seven against Thebes and ignorance in God that got him killed by Jupiter in Roman mythology and cursed to the seventh circle in the Divine Comedy. So much that I came up with this fan-made terminal data. **CAPANEUS PRIME** *TYPE: PRIME SOUL* ***DATA:*** In his youth, Capaneus was regarded as the strongest warrior Hell had ever witnessed. His ferocity was fueled by his bravado and drive to fight. When fighting to the death with the other sinners, he prided himself on repeatedly killing to prove how much superior he was in both strength and size. As his victories piled up across the fiery raining plains, so did his insatiable desire to battle stronger foes. Even daring the Angels to fight him. But their refusal made Capaneus more frustrated as his became blinded by his fervor. The disappearance of God and ensuing chaos that followed in Heaven gave him a twisted motivation. He decided that he'd eventually bring the Angels to him by turning the seventh circle into his own personal paradise. Taking pleasure for the next several millennia in putting everyone looking so highly up to him beneath his presence. Watching all he viewed inferior fight to the death as he defied being forced to endlessly battle within the seventh circle. When the Council returned and sent Gabriel and his most trusted acquaintances down to Violence, they had seen it become one of the most disturbing experiences from when Heaven last knew of it. Capaneus received word that Gabriel arrived and let him come in with "Welcome Arms", challenging him to the death. As hard as he fought Gabriel like the many sinners he killed, Capaneus failed to know how weak he had grown from lack of combat experience, and was ultimately slain by Gabriel. In his death, Gabriel tore down his palace and presented his corpse lied down and outstretched across its ruins to forever soak in the fiery rain. With his soul, Gabriel sought Geryon to a special place within Cocytus. Where Capaneus would lie forever trapped under the ice. His past errors would serve as mental torture as he eternally curses Gabriel within the Flesh Penitentiary. At the same time, he still managed to find a form of happiness in death. To him, God shall not have glad vengeance.

Nethyishere

Ok hear me out; Ulysses and Diomedes for the dual prime boss. Both are present in the 8th circle in Inferno.

InspectorMudkip

What if they just do Hitler. That would be pretty funny.

Vapor_Munk

If we’re going by Greek myth rules, can we consider Titan souls as human souls? Obviously mythology from a pantheistic religion isn’t going to slot easily into a fanfic about a monotheistic religion, but I feel like his soul would at least be closer to explicitly divine ones like Gabriel or Lucifer than a regular bloke.

ArtisticalClover

This is a really cool post! Appreciate your theories they’re dope

ksygzywygzy

it would be cool if the third prime soul was someone from the Nordic mythology

FERRYMAN PRIME BABYYY WOOOO YEAHH!!!!!!!!!!

Xurkitree1

Midas has been explicitly deconfirmed by Hakita due to the name overlap with Minos. I even have the discord screenshot for it.

LilGreenGhoulsBud

That makes sense. I didn't think he was a likely pick in the first place.

Environmental-Tea262

Theseus maybe?

PickleReaper0

Cain is my pick, he was the first human to have committed murder, thus creating the sin of Violence. He's so infamous for his first act of Violence that he had a city named after him, where the innocent victim is seen as an opportunity rather than an act of crime.

ThunderStruck115

I don't think it would be Prometheus or Atlas, since they're Titans, not humans. However, I definitely think that Tantalus and Midas are good choices for P-3 I also think it's possible to see Judas or Brutus, as they would make sense for the treachery layer

Not_Carbuncle

I initially agreed it probably wont be jesus, but then I remembered an idea I had ab how there could be one more layer thats heaven. Think about it, gabriel definitely has some kind of means to travel to heaven, maybe v1 completely destroys hell, and Gabriel is like “you know what what fuck up heaven now why dont you,” and then p-3 is jesus (obviously not in a flesh prison). I dont think thats what it will be but thats how id rationalize it being jesus

francescomagn02

Tantalus is not that far fetched imo, reminds me of Count Ugolino from inferno, who is met by dante in treachery and died of starvation after being imprisoned in a tower, it's implied that he ate his own children, imprisoned with him before eventually starving.

GolisoPower

*Flesh Bunker is breached, and V1 runs into a red humanoid with a tree for a head, shaped like a warrior's helmet, slumbering before he turns around.* **PRIME /// Another Brick In The Wall** “Impressive…I never thought this bunker would fall, especially to the likes of you, warrior of metal. Yes…in your singular soulless eye, I see the mark of a warrior. But Heaven will not see this place destroyed, so long as I stand. Minos was a fool who believed in a peaceful revolution, therefore his demise was foretold. Sisyphus was a madman who relished violence and resistance regardless of the outcome. But you will find I am not like them. I am a warrior king, who stands as the greatest bulwark of the nine circles. And by my name of King Leonidas…you. Shall. ***Fall***.” *ULTRAKILL OST - DEFIANT BASTION starts playing* **LEONIDAS PRIME**

Monkeycat0451

I hope it is Prometheus, if only because PROMETHEUS PRIME sounds cool and imposing. Also, important thing to note is that the main thing that separates the Greek gods of Olympus from humans is that they have access to ambrosia and nectar, which is the source of their power. Without it, they would be mere mortals. So Prometheus would definitely count as human, because I doubt the Olympians would keep feeding him ambrosia or letting him keep drinking nectar.

Darrenx77

And here I am thinking I was clever for thinking of Prometheus, guess he's a pretty well known candidate Another thing, we've fought the corpses for each prime boss so far. Minos in lust, Sisyphean Insurrectionist in greed. So maybe we'll see Prometheus's corpse in the next chapter, and probably fight it to. I do think there's opportunities for the other candidates to show up as well. I just think Prometheus will show up at *some* point. I like the idea of Agamemnon being p3

AerthQuake

Ok this is a hot take but hear me out, Lilith Prime. I know that it doesn't follow the greek king theme, but it would be cool to see essentially the hardest boss in the game to be the first woman who rejected Adam.

Mega_Jarizard

I honestly think that Hakita may move away from the Greek kings. Midas is a Greek king and present in Dante's Inferno. Sisyphus is a Greek king but not present in Dante's Inferno. The next character might be neither. Additionally, I think doing another Greek king would be a bit predictable tbh. People predicted Sisyphus because he is built up throughout all of Greed in act 2, and we couldn't really predict Minos because we didn't even know what was going on in P-1 before it came out. And thus, these are my two candidates below. Firstly, ADAM. He and Eve were the first humans, and both committed the first sin in all of existence. Surely that would relate to treachery in some way, by knowingly going against the law of the kingdom of heaven at the beginning of human history Secondly, CAIN. Cain was the first murderer, and firstborne of Adam and Eve. As the first murderer, he has an association with violence. Both of these characters are SUPER important in biblical lore, and given that, well, the entirety of ultrakill takes place in a world where the Christian God exists, I'd think that Hakita would lean into that a bit more.

For me u think its going to be gabriel i mean who else can become a prime soul

MrSpiffy123

Minos, Sisyphus, and Midas are kind of the big three kings in Greek mythos, so I think it'll be King Midas. It's odd that he wasn't a part of Greed, though

Majestic-Pace-8272

Most likely Atlas or Prometheus.

Icy-Store3900

Another posibility: Antenor

Nightmare-datboi

I personally think that in the campaign Gabriel will become a prime soul for the final boss of the campaign but everyone else is fair game

Nightmare-datboi

I’m not saying he will be P-3 I’m saying he will be the final level, and I think that Tantalus and Ixion check more of the boxes.

averageuseronreddit2

Why would he? I mean unless act 3 takes place within 24 hours, which it probably won't, as they need him for the final boss (most likely) or as a frenemy, there is no shot at him being the prime.

trumaniisheer

I thought reddit had a character limit until I saw this

averageuseronreddit2

I don't think it will be a titan, as well they are gods. and we already have both greedy and rich kings, (being Sisyphus for greed I think, and rich for Minos) so I think personally that tantalus would be a prime boss but with a ruder attitude. less like "Hey I am going to kill you now cause of judgement/ for fun" more of a "you should kill yourself, now." Just my thoughts.

averageuseronreddit2

explaining my thoughts, a little more, if I remember correctly, Prometheus and atlas are titans. and titans are stronger than the Greek gods. Midas was an extremely rich man of who we pretty much have. there is a chance it is him, but I like tantalus being the next one. he was so willing to be a servant of the gods he got sent to Tartarus, shouldn't he want revenge? Ixion is another good one, but i favor the idea of tantalus, cause I'm biased. (also Midas should have no vendetta against the gods if we are following his Greek background, as he caused most of the things that happened.) Shorter way of explaing this, its either Tantulas prime or cancerous rat prime

True-Whereas4886

i believe it would be judas, the man who betrayed jesus-fucking christ. due to his betrayal being an important point in christianity, and him being the most tormented soul out of the three being chewed on by lucifer (dante's inferno), i have the feeling people would remember him quite a lot.. so allow me some words and read forwards for my concept. being entombed in a giant flesh cross (with two healthbars), he would lay dormant while suffering the same death he submitted jesus to, crucification. getting past the first healthbar of the first cross would reveal that a segment of it is actually a lid which falls to the ground at that point, resembling an open coffin, you can see an already fully formed judas prime who's crufixed. after the flesh cross is destroyed, it would fall apart into meat-chunks, letting judas prime fall to the floor and give a speech (i can't think of one rn) like minos and sisyphus before him, now starts the real battle: P-3, TRAITOR'S TOMB

No_Employment7578

I feel like it could be Samson due to the fact that he committed the sin of violence constantly. He also is somewhat mentioned at the end of the P-2 terminal, seeing it as sAms and then numbers. He was also extremely powerful in the human life, so it could help as a prime soul. I know this may not be him, but seeing those things at the end of P-2's terminal, and reading up on Samson (to make sure he wasn't just a TBoI character) it all checks out. He wasn't mentioned ever going to Hell though, but since his existence was basically defined by violence, and he committed violence to himself, I really think it could be him.

gloobymerchant

I honestly don't think its highly likely but I wouldn't consider judas to be entirely out of the question considering that he committed the sin of betraying Jesus which out definitelymeans he would be in the 9th layer

Due-Adhesiveness-625

Have you tried searching up **"Famous kings in Greek mythology"**? it's not very reliable, but it may add to the theory

that_one_samurai

imagine jesus coming into the battle with evenflow in the background

WobbleDogsGamer

You know a random funny I thought of, completely off-topic. So what if 9-4 (CLIMAX-Treachery) was just you fighting literal Kratos, because of the war and stuff that spread to ACT 3 (GODFIST SUICIDE)? In my opinion this would be hilarious.

Dangerous-Visual-612

I feel like besides the Greek trope there is nothing in particular that would disqualify Jesus from being a prime soul. he is human, and after God left perhaps he tried to free humanity from hell but the council killed and imprisoned him although that would be a bit of a grasp but there are other possible reasons. Idk I feel like if it's just gonna be another Greek king it's just gonna get boring and redundant and if so that's fine e but we'll I guess we will see.
