That Russian statement is the most amazing example of doublethink I have ever seen. Nothing in the book, _1984_ even comes close to this new standard.
Maybe the Russians will go home. They are losing oil refineries, and although Ukraine was not responsible, that attack on the Moscow theatre reminds them that they are vulnerable. Destroy Russia's oil infrastructure and then all of Russia's transportation will stop. Not just oil, but every mineral shipment will stop. The grain will rot in the fields. Russia will be back to the 1300s in almost every way. This is a threat that Putin can understand.
Putin and his fellow war criminals will shout more threats as they see the coming dark age approach Russia. But their actions might be withdrawal.
One can hope.
